Oy, and I just went for the Ultimate Edition.

Running an i5 3570/GTX 970/8gb ram system here.

Was planning on upgrading the CPU+mobo+ram next year.

I will update this post with performance later on.

I'm sure there is a super simple explanation but can someone tell me why people are locking the frame rate at 48? can you not lock it at 60?

I have pretty much the same system (mine is a 3570k but I can't OC it). Your post will decide if I will ask for a refund or not. I'm mad at the game because it just doesn't download here. :<

Because they are using 144Hz displays. 48 is 1/3 of 144.

Oh man, I'm downloading the Windows 10 Anniversary Update and then need to download the game. Likely won't be back until tomorrow afternoon :/

There ya go, I knew it was simple. Thanks mate

And thank you to everyone who posted below as well.

I'm getting serious stuttering in the garage when I try to tune the car or swap out wheels and such. It's unbearable. Any one have this problem?

Whilst roaming around/racing I get 40-60fps, with Ultra dynamic optimization, only once did I have the frame rate fall to 10fps.

Titan X Maxwell, 16GB DDR3 RAM, i7 4790k.
All CPUs are above 85% or close to 100% usage! Gfx card usage goes to a max of 85%. Fix you shit MS! Great game though.

It's ok, I bought the standard edition. I can wait a few days.

Awesome. I own an XB1 as well so I'm not completely out of luck regardless of how it runs on my system. I'd be ok with locking to 30fps and dropping some settings if the game is CPU limited if 30 on PC feels as smooth as the magic they do with 30fps on XB1.

try turning hyperthreading off in your BIOS.

Miguel from gamersyde saw a 15-20 fps bump from disabling HT on his i7 5820k.

PSA: It is 2016... get 16GB of RAM. RAM is super cheap right now. Your minimum frames will be improved, especially if you are CPU bound (i5/i3/non K model).

Getting anywhere between 80-60fps at 3440x1440 with everything maxed apart from MSAA set to x2.
There is some stuttering but not unplayable. The only weird bug I've discovered is that occasionally I get weird artifacting along the right side of my screen.

GTX1080
4690k
16GB

The unlimited frame rate in menus and loading screen does my head in though, it's the first time I'm actually hearing coil whine, granted the FPS does jump up to 700-800

The game supports 21:9?

Just a quick question. Are people who are having the stutter issue having the same issue in Apex? I've played the hell out of it and never had any issue. And I thought for sure they said they were using the same tech from Apex to bring Horizon to PC

Thanks to all the people who spent the extra money to bug test this for a few days for those of us that didn't. If we haven't got patches by Tuesday, we'll have some good workarounds. Hyper threading off... got it.

Thinking this would run as well as Apex was a mite optimistic. Yes, the technology between the two games is very similar, but the title one is based on runs at 60 fps on Xbox One and the other one runs at 30 fps on Xbox One.

Well I was talking more about the stutter issue. That doesn't seem to be a gpu/cpu power issue but something they did in programming since turning off the Hyperthreading fixes the issue. And again the only reason I brought it up was because I was almost sure (but I could be wrong) That they talked about using the Apex stuff in the PC development of FH3

So what are we looking at here? Another shit port or something that just needs some kinks worked out?

Got the PC version pre-loaded. Thought there would be less issues going off of Apex. Will see how it runs tonight on my aging rig.

I'm not surprised that it looks like a bad port after seeing how much of a mess Apex was. It sucks though. I was hoping they would have fixed their issues for this release.

Hmmm, from what I saw Apex was relatively solid actually....the OT thread had many good impression....game ran rather well for me.

Wait what? Turn off HT? So every time I want to play Horizon 3 I need to turn HT off?

That might explain why I was only getting 60fps with 2 1080s at 4k. And at 1440p it was somewhere like 70-80s.

Will test when I get home.

I was really hoping for HDR on PC, starving for HDR content. Very disappointing. That and Microsoft store only is making a typically no-brainer purchase a difficult decision.

4K/1440p (DSR) + Ultra + Frame Smoothing is fine... 1080p uhm, the lower the preset, seems to be stuttering...the points to CPU... most of the time...

Yeah it'd be interesting to see if the people that are having problems with FH3 also have problems in Apex or if there's really no correlation at all.

I've had a few crashes and stutters in FH3 (not to the point where it's unplayable, mind you) but utterly flawless performance in Apex.

God damn downloading this from the Windows store is a wild trip! It paused and canceled itself, starting all over :/

Weird. It downloaded 100% for me in under an hour. Just waiting for the unlock time. But no issues at all with the download for me.

6700 and a GTX 1080 at 1080p. Smooth most of the time but every so often I get pretty noticeable drops for a few seconds, anyone else?

Also another issue, I set the installation location on drive D and it installed on D, however there is still 40+gb of space taken up on C drive?

Half the Apex thread on here is people complaining about frame pacing issues, stuttering, or framerate drops.

And I can state the exact same problems exist in Horizon 3. I had some faith that MS would fix these issues for a $100 new release, but I made a very expensive mistake.

i5-2500k
16GB RAM
970 GTX
SSD

I'll keep tweaking, but so far I'm seeing exactly the same sort of stutter and consistency issues I could never resolve in Apex.

Fair warning to other Apex players with problems in that game: do not rush into Horizon 3.

if I run all high x2 msaa, fxaa on, 1440 v sync off and cap at 72 I dont drop a single frame. no stutter. if I go variable it never goes above 60.
980ti 6700k 32gb ddr4
edit: V sync is on, g sync doesn't seem to work
edit again: nothing lasts forever :( game chucks a wobbly every few mins

I switched from 3440x1440 to 1024x768 and my frame rate is exactly the same
Jesus christ that CPU botteneck

Was 50-80 Ultra (minus msaa) depending on where I am
Switching to cockpit increased my frame rate by 10 on average
I have hyper threading disabled

GTX 1080
16GB DDR3 2133Mhz
i7 2600k @ 4.3GHz
Installed on a Samsung Evo 850

Edit: Seem to go down to the 40s in towns or when theres a lot of cars on screen

The game is unplayable for me. I tried dropping the settings even down to low and I'm getting 20-35 fps, stuttering like crazy. I'm playing at 1080p with a gtx 1060 3gb, fx-8320 @ 4ghz, and 16 GB of ram. I know my specs aren't amazing but cmon. There's no reason I shouldn't be getting better performance than on Xbox one except that this port is ass

Playing on MSI GS63VR Stealth Pro laptop, 068 config with i7-6700HQ, GTX 1060 6GB, 16GB DDR4, and a 512GB m.2-slot SSD.

Preset automated to "High." Tried to play, opening mission starts at 60fps but as soon as I am down the hill and on the dam, I get hard stutters down into the low to mid 50's every 3-4 seconds, then it just gets worse in the jungle.

Tried setting maximum performance in my nVidia control panel and everything suggested in this thread earlier.

Tuned settings down manually by disabling dynamic settings, mix of high and medium (no ultras). Largely the same exact results.

About to jump back in with the "medium" preset and dynamic settings enabled -- if it doesn't do the trick, then I'm just going to play on Xbox One, and hope that they might patch the PC client. 30fps cap was another consideration and while I don't see it waver one bit from 30fps, the frame pacing is really sluggish and is not at all enjoyable for me.
