Oculus' Palmer Luckey funds white-supremacist/misogynistic/anti-lgbt harassment group

Just gonna leave this here:

Wait are you posting these pictures to disprove the poster as if you expected Trump supporters to admit to racism as a reason for supporting Trump?

California, Texas, Florida, North Carolina and Virginia are welfare states? News to me.

3 of those 5 are going to support Hillary so which "military states" that were going to go for Trump were you referring to exactly?

And the military that you and these people hold so highly is the biggest form of wasteful welfare this country has right now.

I didn't see anything in there about any white supremacy group. I see a pro-Trump group - and if that was Palmer Luckey's quote, he was obviously having fun playing a character, because he *doesn't* have a private jet, and I don't see how he could possibly have tried to convince Trump to run for president in 2008. I mean, where would a VR geek working out of his garage meet Donald Trump?

He's got some shitty views, to be sure (I still don't see the evidence of him being an outright racist) and he's got a lot to learn, he's a kid. I fat shamed sometimes when I was a dumbass kid, I had no idea how destructive that was, didn't know to apply empathy. Palmer is learning to keep your views behind closed doors. If we had beers with a lot of people that make a lot of money that we think we like, we'd like a lot less of them I bet.

How about how you read into his past and the way he treated black people on his properties.

I think people will more than happily turn on Clinton the second she's elected. But until then, most people are focused on making sure Trump loses. Lots of us don't like Clinton, but there's time for that once Trump is off the field. So I think its fair to say tat people are spending less time worrying about her than they are Trump, largely because only one of them is promising to violate the Geneva conventions like it was a #McChicken.
I understood this reference and I loved it. Thank you for this lol.

Or because 4 more years of a democrat pouring funds into the welfare state might literally bankrupt this country? There are different reasons for different people. Economy being a huge one.

Let's have a lesson on macroeconomics & the national budget shall we?

I don't really understand, the article says that Luckey confirmed to the daily beast that that was indeed his reddit name. Why would he tell them that?

Ah, Trump isn't that bad!

He just wants to ban an entire religion, mock disabled people, mock POWs ("John McCain isn't a real hero! He was captured!"), bully women, scapegoat minorities, criticize Gold Star families, promote anti-Semitism, deride four-star generals, ask generals "well why can't we use nukes," abandon our allies, undo all environmental regulations, reinstate torture, execute the families of terror suspects, praise dictators, encourage Russia to hack our national security secrets, and talk about his dick at presidential debates.

He also has a history of housing discrimination based on race (marking paperwork "C" for "colored"), refuses to condemn the KKK who support him, and doubles down on hiring known white supremacists. He also has a litany of failed businesses, and a tendency to con people out of money and then counter-sue them into oblivion when they press charges. He also buys 6-foot-tall portraits of himself with money meant for charity, while never contributing to his own foundation. His college is a scam. He withholds his tax returns, probably because he has ties to Russian oligarchs.

The guy is a pathological liar with a nonexistent attention span, for whom all human interactions are a zero-sum game of "You praise me, I praise you; you criticize me, I insult you." He could be baited into starting World War III with a motherfucking tweet.

Liberals can feel how they want. No difference to me. I was actually serving when Benghazi happened, and each military state 100% will vote Trump because of it. I hate both parties, btw. Democrats pay the poor and nobody else, republicans are confused about just about everything. Anyone that ties themselves to one party boggles my mind.

i mean you can easily ding hillary on how the libya intervention was a shitshow but you instead swallow the benghazi canard revealing yourself to be a simple mark

Maybe I don't get it, but I read that post as sarcastic...

Matching like for like; you donate a dollar and I'll fly my jet less...

This sounds like an ill-informed attempt at Luckey to jump onto a meme for kicks. He could also really believe in the crap, but the way that post is written make me think otherwise.

go look at his twitter likes and come back here

I knew there was something off about Luckey from the get go. Didn't take him long to go from nothing to the .01% that only care about the almighty dollar bill and stripping as much of it as possible from the lower and middle classes.

Oculus can rot in a hole, sub par tech anyway.

Maybe stop getting your news from South Park?

Right, because taking care of the poor is such a terrible thing to do. And what's the appreciation rate of "giant impossible walls" these days?

Yep. That's crap. Picture of three people at the gym, one of them is working out while the other two take selfies and post on Twitter. GTFO.

I know there's a former Playboy bunny who, last I heard, is facing charges for a similar incident. Though that might be be to the woman in her picture being undressed in the locker room. Those types don't surprise me; they only feel good when they make others feel worse.

And two of those five (NC and Virginia) take more from the federal government than they put in. California puts in way more than they take out. Texas puts in slightly more than it takes out. And Florida bounces back and forth between slightly more and slightly less.

But what's to stop this whole saga unfolding again in four years' time? We've seen an extreme hard right individual like Trump soar from irrelevancy to having a real shot at power, and that's been under a (more or less) well received President over the last eight years. What happens when you've had a President who's been attacked for four years by the people who championed her election; what kind of political climate does that create, and how much more easily would that be exploited by someone like Trump?

I understand that right now it's the only option remaining, but man, it seems to me like building a short-term future on some very shaky long-term ground.

I just remembered who was Milo Yiannopoulos. I'm even more destroyed.

How Palmer, an simple and aparently nice guy, support such things?

Oh man, this is harsh. So harsh it hurts, for real. I liked that guy a lot, but i can't begin to imagine him defending this stuff.

One of the best summations I've seen so far!

... But I also find it a little odd that in this race, at some point progressively minded individuals seem to have lost all critique they had for Clinton, at least openly, (critique I often saw around here) because it's all focused on Trump. I worry it'll give Clinton a free pass in the long term, and that'll be the real damage done by Trump in the end. People afraid to criticise what should be criticised because it could be interpreted as fuelling the fire of extremist demagogues.
Progressives railed against Clinton when Bernie was in the picture. Bernie and his supporters single-handedly shifted her policies noticeably left, and should feel accomplished because of that.

However, now that Bernie's out, it's only a question of Clinton or Trump.

Clinton can't "get a pass" if she can't get elected.

For what it's worth, The Daily Beast is owned by IAC, which has Chelsea Clinton on the board of directors.

I'm going to sit on this one and wait until I hear his response to pass judgment. Regardless, I'd like to know what Palmer was thinking. Publicly admitting to funding something like this? Eh?

Honestly I could see why people in the military support Trump. He is always going on about how poorly we treat veterans and making vague allusions to how he will make things right with them.

Of course, he never actually goes into detail about it (or anything really).

A 24 year old is not a kid

The military isn't standing in the way of anything. It's an overfunded, wasteful albatross that feeds on bullshit nationalism and "patriotism" from people like you which allows politicians to use it as a way to line their rich friends' pockets.

And a majority of Trump's electoral support is going to come from the poorest, most uneducated states, which are all much bigger welfare leeches than any of the coastal "Welfare Queens" those same people like to crow about.

Dear lord, do you understand anything about the budget? You do realise that spending on defense dwarfs every single other piece of discretionary spending.

Almost all liberals I know do have issues with Clinton, and if you actually paid attention, so do a lot of people here on GAF.

I voted for Bernie in the primaries. I no longer have that option. Trump is the opposing candidate. There's nothing for me to do but vote Clinton.

Spot on, but I think we should back away from this topic and go back to pointing this out:

No surprise this guy funds white supremacist groups...

He's clearly a POS.

mock POWs ("John McCain isn't a real hero! He was captured!")\

I am shocked Republican still supported him after saying that about McCain. It was so far below the belt its gross. Even those who oppose McCain wouldn't say something as outright disrespectful to a veteran like that

I know this isn't nice to say, but, I kinda hope Milo dies soon. Like, preferably by fire.

But, I digress.

Come on, don't fight hate with hate. These kinds of things just fuel him and his types

Without defense spendimg there is nothing to defend. Fact. Anyone drops bombs, they know there will be bombs dropped in retaliation. Without defense spending, what happens when the bombs drop?

Great examples of what makes the idea of a Trump presidency absolutely terrifying.

He's not a kid, he's a rich man who is using his money for evil.

This is not defendable, at all.

We don't need to spend more than the next 25 countries combined to get that point across. It's wasteful bullshit and your fear mongering defense of it is exactly why politicians are so easily able to get away with it.

Stop side tracking this thread with non-sense.

It's not about voting for Trump or HIllary it's about Palmer Lucky actively giving money to people and groups that have white supremacists/enforce those views.
