I Found A Bug in My Food

There's bugs in most food.

I probably wouldn't go back there personally just because it's a bad experience but if you ever eat grains and stuff there is all kinds of insect eggs in flour/rice/oatmeal. I took a long vacation once and came back and opened the cupboard and noticed there was moth larva crawling out of a bag of flour! It's gross but it's life.

Also the other day i was drinking my coffee and noticed something in my mouth and it was an ant. I spit it out and drank the rest of the coffee. He must've just crawled in there when i set the cup down somewhere.

Oh boo hoo, you found a bug in your food. It's not going to hurt you, why are going around crying about it?

You want "justice"? Want some people to lose their jobs for what was almost certainly an accident? You pick it out of your food, toss it and move on with your life.

Can't stand people who think this way.

I once found a bug at a very high end restaurant that uses a private garden for all their produce. Guess someone hadn't washed the arugula well that day and a small bug ended up in my plate. They gave me a complimentary bottle of wine which made for a nice toasty lunch. I'm not sure if you'd get any other type of monetary compensation.

Did you know that the FDA allows a certain amount of insect parts in food before it's ruled as defective? Insect parts, rat hairs/feces, etc. Giant hairy spider (ok I added that last one after seeing the above spider picture, but maybe it is also included).

"the FDA considers such things to be "natural or unavoidable defects," and the agency maintains a "Defect Levels Handbook" to describe the acceptable levels."

A big visible bug would gross me out though. I always wonder if I ever eaten a full bug by mistake, especially spiders, flies or such while sleeping.

I don't really see why you want anything beyond asking for a refund. Bugs get into food like all the time. If it's just happened once then it's really not a big deal.

Wow a cockroach, I would have thrown up. Those things are disgusting. They coat themselves in their own waste, and it was chopped up, ugh.

Beetle would have been preferred over a roach.

My girlfriend once bit into a burger from Sonic only to discover half of a roach, the other half being in her mouth.

I had already finished my sandwich...

I found what I thought was a chicken foot in a bowl of soup, it was pretty horrible since it was my favourite flavour lol

If it was green, it wasn't a roach. A random beetle is much less damning than a roach, imo, since roaches or flies suggest an unhygienic kitchen environment.

If you have picture evidence, I'd upload it to Yelp / Google and just describe the restaurant's inaction to your complaint. You could write a bad review without the picture, too.

My personal recommendation: Go to PJay's or Allwyn's instead. PJay's over Allwyn's.

Chicken feet are wonderful.

it's hilarous how people expect restaurants to stop nature from existing inside of the restaraunt.

like people complaining how flies get into their food, what are they supposed to do? every time the customer opens the door they let a fly in and those bug fuckers suicide into the nearest piece of food matter.

Now hair getting into food you can prevent, but bugs it's near impossible unless your restaurant is a goddamn vacuum sealed space.

That's just flavor right there.

I got a box of patties from PJay's this weekend. I'm like 3 minutes from them.

Their patties are wonderful. I don't live that close, but I happened to be in the area on Saturday and grabbed some grub. Their oxtail is the best in the city, imo.

It's basically skin and ligaments, which absorb the flavor of whatever it's cooked in.

Yes, there are a lot of bones, it's really not that bad since the edible parts basically fall right off. It's a bit of work, and it's unsightly to eat since you're constantly spitting tiny bones onto your plate, but I like the flavor and texture. Totally get that it's not for everyone.

It's really weird to see so many people acting like finding a cockroach in food is normal or even to be expected

Ain't that the truth. I'd straight up go up in there and let them know what it is. OOOH! If they had a Twitter I'd blast that and I know my aunties probably go down there with me.
