Destiny |OT42| Embrace the Not-Knowing

I think I'm done.

I can't ever seem to find a full fireteam to finish one damn raid from start to finish.

I think I'll just have to accept never being able to finish WotM/get the exotic because I just have horrible luck finding squads that can't seem to persevere in the final fight.

The only reason I ever finished Kingsfall was because some rad sherpa squad took me through it like the day before ROI dropped. Similar cases for Crota and Skolas.

I had all monitors done tonight and was at phase 2 and this guy just rage quit after 4 failed really close attempts. And we couldn't find a replacement for the final fight.

Then not knowing the monitor progress was deleted by orbit'ing..... - it was just too much disappointment.

I made it to Axis twice last week and people fucking bailed at the end and no one reconvened at the time to redo the raid the following day. (or rather some people finished it off with their friends earlier because they didn't want to wait/do it again to help)

And if I can't finish a damn raid I don't know how I'm going to be able to continue to level in any kind of reasonably paced manner.

Then it'll get to the point where no one is doing normal raids anymore and I can't even be high enough LL for Hard. (my luck is garbage, rolled dead orbit faction 15 times and only got a LL upgrade once out of those rolls)

This game is fucking heartbreaking if you don't have a competent regular squad to play with/luck.

Thank you so much for that info. Would have wrecked an earlier run if we beat the boss and didn't know that.

The quest is really involved and for a lot of people the final boss of the raid is quite hard. It will be some time and LL before it becomes easily accomplished by many, but pretty soon Guide GAF will kick into high gear to help as many as possible. Concentrating on boss kills may be the way to go since there's so much to learn. I still mucked up twice today on slams that are second nature to me.
OP get. Thanks to zocano, zewone, mindlog, and commish for the help!

FYI, the second "activities" step w/ Sepiks and Forge can be done solo.
Big thank you to everyone in that group. The steps are so involved I didn't know when the opportunity to get it done would come again.

Relax. It's been one week. Barely. Once people have this on farming status you'll find fire teams left and right.

I haven't even set foot in the raid yet - no need to be the first at everything ..

Yeah thanks everyone! What a long... Long ... Quest. And thank you Bungie for allowing us to pass around team members to get it done.

And the gun is ridiculous. So nice.

I have check from first boss fight if you want it Kean. First monitor starts from there.

This is probably my favorite quest. I liked how involved it and everything felt really rewarding afterwards.

Once people have this on farming status the hard mode raid will come out and no one will want to run a normal raid because it's a waste of their time. Which has always been the case with this game.

And I sure as shit won't be able to hard raid because I can't get enough gear to even be close to being an appropriate level for hard mode.

You get trapped at the wall before hard mode comes out and you're just shafted and have to wait a long time until people are so bored of running hard mode that they might be entertained to sherpa someone through normal.

Grinding hopelessly to get skeleton keys, exotic engrams, and faction rolls to MAYBE getting 1 piece of gear that is 1 LL higher while everyone is running around with raid gear and enginge 10+ LL above you is kind of garbage.

I mean, if my experience with this game is any indication I'll have to wait like 6 months until people even remotely feel like sherpa'ing someone through normal mode.

Just a heads up, sorry if someone mentioned this already but I didn't see it in the thread.

You can get people who have finished the exotic pulse rife quest to help you with the decoding parts of the quest.

Once you've finished the quest you can buy two different 'replica' parts from Shiro allowing you to help others with the first two decoding phases of the quest. Also, the part after the 2nd decoding step does not need to be in a fire team (forge, sepiks, plaugeland kills). So while not doing everything in one go with a group will make things more difficult it is possible to do it slowly step by step, providing you can find the people needed to help you out still.

Home tomorrow, now 352,351,350 w,r,t.

What's lowest ll for the raid to get through it without being a reviveathon?

Will do some more siva strikes to clear that out, get some more clusters and work on the book to get higher.

Well that's a relief, I was worried I'd finish the quest so late I wouldn't be able to find anyone to actually do part 2 with.

Yeah Destiny has been pretty fucking consistently miserable for me when raids come out.

And as a bonus was never was even able to play Trials of Osiris because I never had good enough LL gear.

I think it's pretty ridiculous that bungie made the raid 370 when its nearly impossible to get to 370 without raiding in the first place. I've been in a couple of competent groups in the mid 360s for aksis phase 2 that had the phases down ok but the damage just wasn't there. This wasn't a problem with king's fall last year.

And yeah I know dedicated raid groups managed to do it... But for lfg groups the failure rate seems quite high, mainly due to light level issues.

Just FYI, the monitors all reset when everyone leaves the raid zone, so if you go back in on your checkpoint on aksis P2 the monitors will all be reset so the lasers won't go away.

Someone has to stay in the raid zone the entire time for the monitors to stay active, you will need to run it again from the beginning to activate all the monitors.

You COULD join a raid group that is already on aksis and has activated all the previous monitors, you will be fine then. But starting your own raid at the P2 checkpoint will not work, as far as I know.

Great, so I wasted the entire evening and half the night for nothing.

It should be a challenge, and apparently it is.

Again, I don't think the expectation should be that everybody should be able to crush the raid 6 days after it came out.

Goddamn Destiny is moving too fast again :D feel like i'm missing out on everything when i'm barely 365 light level...

Hopefully people will still play the raid and aid with the puzzles after some weeks :D

Don't worry I'll still be floating in Bungo's limbo.

Speaking of Bungo, they warmed us yesterday with some sick Nightfall loot rewards, 16 Strange Coins and 11 Three of Coins! That is not helping with my light levels :D

Yup.

I got 6 strange coins, a low impact purple sniper 1 LL below what I had, and a scout rifle 1 LL below what I had.

:\

I think my problem is mostly with the light leveling. They've created a bit of a purgatory between like 360-370, so a lot of people are trying to finish the raid before they're ready. Sure in 2 or 3 weeks people will generally be geared, but since the raid was such a big part of what was new this expansion (and raiding in general is considered to be one of destiny's strong suits) I think it was important that they give everyone a fair shot at it when they released it.

The part where the boss stays still and you just shoot it shouldn't really be the hardest part of the encounter, but it is currently because everyone is so underlevelled.

On Friday night on the final boss, I thought the same. But we slept on it and conquered it the next day, with 4 people being under 370 and it was a glorious feeling. And a lot more people we able to Conquer it on Saturday and since then.

We then ended up doing it all 2 more times that day. It's just learning the mechanics, and then working together as a team with communication including communication tactics (empowereds only talking during empowerment phases) being the most important.

I think they nailed this raid. It's totally unlike Oryx where it involves heavily relies on 1 person and that 1 person can cause a wipe.

It's a great raid.

I think this is a little hasty. I mean it hasn't even been a full week since the raid was launched. There will be plenty of runs for normal mode coming up and long after HM is released, like it's been for every other raid. If anything, I expect more, since there's now an incentive to run a raid after having gone through it (siva key fragments).

I haven't played Destiny for the past 6 months, only back now. Just checked the OP and I am very saddened to read about Drizzay.

He was in a league of his own and will be sorely missed.

His wife done a great job on the memorial site, my condolences to his family & friends.

Hell, I'm stuck on 350. I've decided to take my time because I can't face grinding out strikes at the moment. I haven't even done the damn Gjallarhorn or Khvostov quests. I'll get there eventually, I just hope I can get a raid done this time: I never finished King's Fall, which annoys the hell out of me.

Hopscotch Pilgrim kind of took over for my workhorse weapon so far in RoI. Hard for me to break out of my weapon loadout pattern right now, though I haven't done the raid to try the AR or Scout from there. Other than the Hopscotch I've swapped in the MIDA just because the Special Ops ornament is pretty cool. But it's hard to give up the exotic slot there between Raze Lighter and Gjallarhorn.

Any GAF Warlocks who are at the Equalization Equation step of the pulse rifle quest, or alternatively that have already completed it and would like to help me get past this? A hunter and me are waiting for it and I really want to go to sleep :(

Out of curiosity how long have you been part of this community? I dropped in around HM VOG and this place has never been short of helpful people.

The raid will be on farm mode once the majority of people have the mechanics nailed on.

It took me 3 tries with three different firetrams to get my first clear and that was only last night during the quest for the pulse rifle. Be patient and it will come.

Hawkian said a few pages back that it won't be long till he starts newbie WOTM raid groups so certainly not the 6 months that you seem to be suggesting.

Add me to your friends list, I'll be more then happy to group up at some point and help you clear it. My PSN is Ty_84.

Man ... that soft-cap between 350 and 360 is dumb as hell.

Why would Bungie do this? Makes no sense. It just shoves me into a shitty position being unable to Raid or play Trials/Iron Banner ... As a father of two I only have time to play in the evening. Mostly 4~5 hours. Spend 5 hours doing strikes and got NOTHING important. +1 Chest Piece and the rest was below.

You're doing the 320 strikes that drop blues up to 365 right? Something is wrong with what you're doing if that's all you got. You have your highest light items equipped when decrypting right?

Have you been doing heroic strikes? 5 hours of that should have gotten you a whole bunch of blues that drop from the boss at higher light levels.

Advice on leveling and engrams please:

I'm currently at 353 and have three exotic engrams and seven legendary engrams. I'm planning on saving the exotics until after I reach 365, but what about the legendaries - should I save those until then too or go ahead and decrypt them now to help get to 365?

Basically are legendary engrams more useful pre-365 or post-365?

Went to bed at 3am. Failed to kill Aksis. Learned about the fact that monitors are reset when leaving the raid today morning. Yay.

Yuck.

Legendary fairly useless after 365 unless it turns exotic, pray.

Essentially use engrams to boost lowest light level gear when nearing next level.

Also when you get faction packages do the same.

I as a mainly crucible player get a lot of weapons and class items.

So with all my packages, I will use them on Armor ones to then enable me to grow.

Faction packages also offer ghosts occasionally too be sure to pray to RNG.

When you get to the point of being stuck for an artifact, go level Eris as she offers probably the most chance of getting an artifact plus the weekly quest she gives makes it fairly painless!

Legendary Engrams won't decode above 365 unless they decode as an exotic. So go ahead and use them in the 350+ region to level up is what I'd suggest. Either that or save them until 365 to save yourself the infusion if they decode as something you might actually use, and use blues from 320 strikes (which also roll up to 365) to infuse your way to 365 first.
