WaPo: Trump Foundation lacks the certification for charities that solicit money.

Donald Trump’s charitable foundation — which has been sustained for years by donors outside the Trump family — has never obtained the certification that New York requires before charities can solicit money from the public, according to the state attorney general’s office.

...

If New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman (D) finds that Trump’s foundation raised money in violation of the law, he could order the charity to stop raising money immediately. With a court’s permission, Schneiderman could also force Trump to return money that his foundation has already raised.

The Trump campaign did not respond to a request for comment Thursday.

...

“He’s a billionaire who acts like a thousandaire,” said James J. Fishman, a professor at Pace University’s law school in White Plains, N.Y. He said Trump’s foundation seemed to have made errors, including the lack of proper registration, that were more common among very small family foundations.

“You wouldn’t expect somebody who’s supposed to be sophisticated, and brags about his business prowess, would run his foundation like this,” Fishman said.
Weird!

Full story.

Who would have thought that his sham foundation was run in a half-assed manner.

Two reports of breaking laws within 2 days. Trump is on a roll.

That's business, by the way.

But he's Big League. He has the best business. His foundation is run great, by the best management ever.

Those recent statements he gave praising his foundation and how it is run are delicious now.

Not to sound too cynical but so what?

Trump can do no wrong in his supporters eyes.
And even though his incompetence and illegal activities have been exposed time and time again, nothing ever seems to actually stick or keep him down for long.

The judiciary sure hasn't affected him much, and for as much as he talks about the biased mainstream media, they never really give his Illegal actions the necessary amount of scrutiny.

So, again? So what? Now let's talk about Hillary's emails and Bengahzi somemore.

Yea. As you can tell, I'm pretty jaded. Wish I wasn't but there really seems to be no justice when it comes to Trump.

I have to imagine at some point all this crap will just hit the breaking point and it'll all come home to roost.

I would've thought it'd be during a campaign for president, but honestly I'm kinda surprised it hasn't yet.

If he is forced to refund the "donations" into the foundation, many of which appear to be paychecks masquerading as donations in an attempt to avoid income tax, that means that he will not be refunding "donations" but instead will be refunding what amount to paychecks.

He'll be refunding NBC for his work on the Apprentice and WWE for his wrestling event, for some potential examples.

Damn, that could potentially be quite a large chunk of income, too. I just wonder if it'll happen or not, though. Feels like something that will get delayed in court, but if it's pushed hard and long enough, that could really be a pretty devastating thing for him down the road.

I was wondering about this, given that the foundation doesn't seem to have any employees. While it's nice that that means no overhead, unless it's getting donated services from a Trump company that's also going to lead to this sort of thing.

Can we slow down with all these scandals? It's honestly getting hard to keep track. The Cuba thing only came out a day ago.

It's not about his supporters at this point, though. They're always going to support him, like you said.

The people with consciences are the ones who are going to care about this stuff.

Wow, what an amateurish mistake. Hope he get burned nice and crispy

Well, if he is actually self-dealing and tax dodging, registering this as a charity that can solicit donations would have required the charity to undergo a yearly independent audit. That illegal activity would have presumably been found out then
