What? 1080p60? But that means the NX would have to be more powerful than PS4.

It means that the games for NX are probably not always as graphically impressive as PS4 but are native 1080p/60fps which is often preferred by GAF.

Most PS4/XBO games are made with 1080p or 900p 30fps with higher quality graphical effects and textures at the expense of 60fps.

Ok I have to add more because I'm way too excited thinking about a launch 3D Mario.

I said there would be Mario at the NX reveal because Mario is the face of Nintendo + if Nintendo is going after the casual crowd they have Super Mario Run, in which they can advertise the new 3D Mario game to them.

I figured 3D Mario would be until holidays. Maybe Nintendo would do a 3D Mario at launch and do BotW in April. I still think they want to give them a little space so they don't cannibalize each other's sales.

If this is true, like I said before, Nintendo could be very confident with their games lineup (especially considering if you believe all games to one system). If you think about it there should be a lot of games, since it would be like combining 3DS games and Wii U games. Also, Kimishima did say how important software was.

That brings me to the MCV rumor that said Pokémon and Mario are coming within 6 months of the NX launch. This would make that more believable and now the wonder is what the Pokémon game is.

Base price point seems to be sitting at $299.99

Bundle price is currently sitting at $399.99

The packaging is relatively clean and simple and is similar to the Wii U in terms of package design.

The color scheme for the packaging is white and blue (compared to the Wii U's blue and black).

The packaging still says "NX" however there is still no indication if this is a placeholder or the final name.

1080p and 60fps are being used by the marketing teams in relation to gameplay on to the console portion. I've heard unconfirmed rumblings of 900p for the infamous hybrid part of the device.

This ranks pretty high in the chart of the stupidest rumors posted.

So 4 launch games a one appears to be Mario? Hmmm wonder what the other three are. I imagine one is just a standard gimmick/demo game.

Of course though this sounds like a fake but eh..

4 launch games?

Don't believe this. Nintendo tries to make a great library, thats why they delayed it.
4 games to buy at launch would be one of the worst launches they have in their history.

Specially because everything could be quickly ported. It should have 20 launch titles at least.

PS4 is so weak by 2016-2017 standards though, it wouldn't be particularly suprising

Zelda and a new 3D Mario at launch would be amazing though.

While it does, it's still for the fans like me. What about all the fifa mainstream players. Sony owned 98% of them on their console. There is where the money is and not the fans/core gamers like most of us.

Ok because someone said ubisoft dance title would be one of them.

I also believe they will have a few wiiu ports.

I believe miyamoto said they maybe could show something of the new Mario next e3. So it would be strange if the have could done it faster

They're playing Fifa on the console they and their friends own.

I don't really care about them. The Vita also had FIFA and CoD and well that was something wasn't it.

I personally interpreted it as four free games coming with the console a la Nintendo Land, Wii Sports, etc.

Anyone else fed up of these threads now? And not because of the OP's but damn Nintendo themselves not doing anything with the NX, ooh lets keep it a secret until we are ready to release it, like Apple do

I swear to god they are trying to pull a Apple, where by the time they have the direct, 2 weeks later the console is in the store, what they dont realize is, it will hurt them, big time, what works for Apple will not necessary work for Nintendo, since the iproducts are huge, Apple can do this, Nintendo cannot.

I 100% agree with you. I personally think that try to act like Apple, except your not Apple. Nintendo does not have Apples status across the planet. Even though Apple keeps things a secret, with all the leakers at foxcon and other places we still know what Apple is doing. We all know iPhone 7s or whatever they call it, is coming next year. One of Apple's strengths is that it is mostly predictable.

I don't care what anyone says. I think something has gone very wrong for Nintendo. I think NX was supposed to be out this November. They still haven't even publicly talked about it since Iwata mentioned it was in development. Maybe they had pre production issues, maybe the software wasn't ready. But something is wrong.

IMHO, this is their last stand as a console maker. I also believe despite what you all will say, I think Nintendo is desperate to be acquired. But only if it is a Apple, or Disney. I think the Japanese government would want jobs to remain in Japan from one of these monster companies would save face with the public.and

I also think a partnership with Microsoft makes a lot of sense as this point.

Either way, the longer silence goes from Nintendo. It will eventually not build anticipation, but make people tone deaf to their message. People will not care, and if will cost them sales. $299 is a death sentence if this is primarily a handheld, and if their is no western third party support.

Last thing, if they delay their announcement until 2017, then they aren't launching in March.

You expect Miyamoto to say "Yeah guys we'll have 3D Mario at the NX reveal"? Come on man. It doesn't matter what he says.

Exact. No way that we get a new 3D Mario for launch and after the failure of NSMB for Wii U I doubt they will release a console with a 2D Mario again.
Maybe it is Mario Run? That we can really play the Nintendo smartphone games also on their new console.

You don't know the tech. You don't know anything about 3rd party support.

.

You are absolutely correct. Nothing would please me more than a portable game console that could run the current 3rd party games with lower specs. That would be awesome.

However if you look at Nintendo and their track record with 3rd parties, it's not a reach to say that games like Destiny 2 or anything Rockstar is doing won't be coming to NX. If that's the case and they (again) miss most of the popular 3rd party games, you can't sell an inferior console with the same price as the competition and miss all those games unless you win people over with some gimmick, like the Wii. Well of course you can, but you can't expect to outsell the competition or stay competitive.

20 first party titles at launch? As minimum? :/

Zelda AND and a new 3D Mario would be a big reason for many to must buy that console.

I think Nintendo knows that they have to launch with games people really wanna play so they just need to buy that thing.

Delaying Zelda for a NX launch was a smart choice even tho its also coming to WiiU but nobody owns that thing anyway.

Erm...

It'd be 4 launch titles from Nintendo.

20 launch window titles from them is physically impossible. Unless they have near zero games spread over the rest of the year.

I also don't believe for a second that they'd stop using their phones just to play some FIFA on the NX hanheld or something. There's FIFA Ultimate Team (50 million downloads on Google Pay wowza), a Companion App and the game itself for their phone already, I'm sure that's enough.

Competing with the communities on PSN and XBL for the console version is next to impossible for Nintendo at this point anyway and I don't see why EA would be particularly interested in investing money in porting. They get the kids with their apps and they get the teenagers/adults with PS4 and XBO.

All sounds reasonable.

Would've thought the packaging color scheme would be red though.

They should put a formal Direct date in now though to reveal this thing already.

Wii had 21 and Wii U 23 games at launch if i remember correct.
He's saying first party at in Nintendo developed or published games. Nintendo usually has a few first party games for launch.

4 games for NX launch makes sense with what they've done with Wii and Wii U atleast.

Wait until you see how weak the NX is. According to those Tegra rumors, a LOT weaker

Which doesn't matter because this is going to be a system for Nintendo games, lower budget niche titles and mobile/handheld/indie developers.

No one should be going into this expecting the same wider target audience and broad software support of Console and PCs.

Most likely, this will be a system for Nintendo fans, kids, and with an eye to steal some scraps from the tables of iOS and Android, or at least slow the haemorrhage of falling sales as the young and casual audience shifted over to mobile.

If you have a PS4 or Xbox One or PC, why would you buy an NX for FIFA or Madden if all your friends have them on PS4/X1/PC?

Yes, I believe Nintendo should definitely have the sports games, but people already have these other systems for Call of Duty or FIFA with their friends.

FIFA and Call of Duty didn't even sell the best on the Wii. The Wii is proof Nintendo doesn't get great sales because of sports games, but they definitely should have it because it makes your library better and more appealing.

Let's be honest, there's bound to be a Mario game at launch. And before anyone starts citing Gamecube yada yada, Luigi's Mansion was close enough and Nintendo today wouldn't miss the opportunity to put their no.1 mascot on the launch lineup following a lacklustre previous gen.
Not when we already know we're getting Zelda at launch. Makes more sense to space out their big releases.

At this rate if all this stuff is true, they only have to name it Wii O to confirm us that they did learn shit about the past.

Screams fake.
You don't throw your handheld and console market together and then release a device for a price that excludes the first group.

Actually it does.
Just like when he said no new 3DS was coming and then the following week Nintendo announced the New 3DS (or 2D I forgot which one)?

Yeah, I don't care what he says. You're not revealing a brand new system without a new Mario. 3D Mario has been missing for 3 years now. They showed Mario prior to Wii U's launch and they showed Galaxy at E3 2006 for Wii prior to its launch.

I never said it was true 3D Mario would launch with NX, but I could see Nintendo being pretty desperate to make sure NX takes off unlike Wii U, which didn't have compelling big first party titles.

Again, Miyamoto isn't going to tell them "Don't worry friends 3D Mario will be shown during the NX reveal later this year!"

299? This thing is already dead. Ps4 and xb1 will most likely be 249 after this holiday.

Yeah but do they have Mario and Zelda?

I've saved with £300 in mind for the device. Anything more than that for everything will be overpriced imo.

Once again, this thread that they should have done something tempered the insane expectations people have.

Of course, some will say that Nintendo doesn't have to appeal to their core audience because that's not who they want to sell their product to, thath they want to expand their audience, but they can't afford that after the wii u debacle.
Now we're hearing that a new Mario could be there at launch and people will star to expect a "R E A L 3 D Mario", when it probably won't be.

Nintendo's track record with 3rd parties means diddly, because there were two reasons for it. The biggest was a technical problem, the fact that Nintendo used a different graphics architecture than the competition - it was a lot of work to port any game to a Nintendo console. The second issue were controller features were quite a bit different, which meant that controls had to be remade and/or new features had to be added to the game, which again added to the porting cost.

The rumors for the NX gives it an architecture similar to PS4 and XBox One - Unreal 4's Blacksmith demo was even used to show off the Tegra X1 chipset when it was announced. And rumor has the NX having fairly standard controls as well. As long as NX isn't hobbled by something like tiny cartridge storage or low memory or crappy networking, there isn't any reason for third party developers to keep multiplatform titles off the console this time, as long as it can get a decent-sized audience (which is why NX needs the big first-party titles at launch, to get a good-sized audience at the start).
