I know you have your own standards over what constitutes a new Pokémon, but this is very obviously not true. There are four new ice types on the docket that never existed prior to this generation, even if Crabrawler's evo isn't Fighting/Ice.
They certainly seem to be catchable- they have Battle Preview images and shinies.

Gen 7's shinies really are great so far.
I'm feeling very mixed about the whole thing. I think they ruined a lot of great designs by giving them evolutions (Crabrawler -> That thing, Litten -> Tony the Tiger), and I'm really not a fan of the Ultra Beasts. I am a big fan of Mega Evolutions, but Alolan forms got stale really fast and are an obvious attempt at appealing to Gen 1 fans.
The games will probably be great, but from a Pokémon standpoint I'm fairly underwhelmed.

These designs are awesome, Wimpod is even better than I had imagined, a bit gross maybe but it a good way 
And Rowlet3's model looks great too

Ah, not sure how to feel about these.
There are a lot of designs I really like but there are a number I don't like either. Overall it's not as solid as gen 6, which for me remains the gen with my favorite designs.
I don't mind the low number of new Pokemon, but I wish there weren't so many single stage mons. Some of them feel like they could really use additional stages... like Komala Hopefully the single stage mons at least have decent stats.
I think overall this gen feels crazy in a good way. UBs in particular. They look like Personas or something.

EDIT: Are battle preview sprites indication of anything, given how SM's battle screen is laid out? And Shiny sprites aren't necessarily a confirmation either.

Although some are now saying it's not an evo - just he female varitant... not sure how I feel about that.

Not when Alolan Ninetails, Exeggutor and Marowak exist.
