one thing is for sure, the announcement will take all of neogaf by surprise.

this is the only NX thread in the front page and most people won't get near it with that thread title.

I think the majority of gaf does not suspect in the least the announcement is imminent.

I read this thread back when it was actually about predictions right when it got created, and stopped clicking on it until a few hours ago I noticed it now has hundreds of thousands of views and tons of pages. Then I knew

I spend the past two hours in bed reading the 40 pages added to the thread.

I feel like Im losing control of my sanity lol.

Will go to sleep for six hours then work. Hoping for something tomorrow!

Hopefully serious, not quirky.

There is a bit more context then this single post. I like Emily follow her, etc. I am disappointed with her calling people out on Twitter with opposing views ... these are regular folks not bullies etc.

"regular folks"

You're new to the internet I see.

Hmm I'm expecting all business. Nintendo usually only uses skits and comedy to reveal games or special hardware (like the Galaxy N3DS). For a new console / system reveal, I expect a pretty direct Direct. Lighthearted maybe, but not comical.

The whole announcement of the amiibo started off with an amazingly goofy skit but then followed by a serious, business man Reggie explanation. I'm betting on that.

Y'all are reposting the same images from before that were less than a day ago

Seems like this thread is more similar to the NX leaks than we initially thought

The Wii and Wii U were both revealed on stage at live events, right? The NX will be the first system in a long time to be revealed through a video presentation, so I rather expect them to make it a little more formal and informative like an E3 presentation would be. I won't be upset if they decide to make it a little goofier, but I'd rather they get to the point and just let the hardware do the talking and the game footage do the entertaining.

I'm fine with either.

I'd be over the moon even if they reveal the damn thing without any games shown

Imagine if all we get is "Coming (exact date) 2017!

*End of announcement*

At first I was thinking "no way, since RDR2 trailer".....but if we're just talking a Direct announcement, yeah, that's definitely possible.
I feel like anything is possible with NX. This whole thing has been unprecedented so why not a direct announcement tomorrow with a reveal on Friday?

Yeah. I was specifically talking about Smash NX in this scenario.

Even just the announcement on Red Dead Day is unlikely. You want as much buzz going in to your event as possible. Announcing said event on the day of Red Dead just means less buzz surrounding the announcement.

So what happens to us if Nintendo pulls a Sony PS4 reveal in Feb of 2013 where they talk about features and specs, announce a few games (first and third party), but do not show off the console?

they're not going to do that after the wii u reveal disaster where media and people alike were confused about nintendo not showing the console upfront and making it look like gamepad was a attachment fo the Wii ....

anyway its not a console ;d its a handheld with just dock right lol

Do you guys think Nintendo will simply iterate upon / evolve Miiverse as its main online and social component, or do you think we could see something new and exclusive to the NX; some new service like XBL or PSN that allows for easy parties, gameplay sharing, streaming, and multiplayer?

Honestly I think Miiverse provides some pretty good bones to work with. It's nice to have groups for the games you like, and I can't overstate how much I love to see everyone's original doodles and drawings along with their posts. That really sets Nintendo's online experience apart right now, even though it's anemic compared to the competition.

Long as we get a proper name and like, what the console is, if its a hybrid or whatever, I wouldn't mind not seeing it right away.

I wanna get hyped, but I also want to get this over with already.

End the insanity.

I hope they spend 10 minutes doing a big epic skit where a black box with NX printed on it is shipped from the factory to wherever they're recording the direct.

The possibility of that is actually high. There is still the fact that there remains a little less than six months to launch.

They can call the console "PlayStation" and the handheld "PlayStation Portable".

I think out of the whole Wii U "debacle", aside from some stella games, Miiverse is the one thing that i felt Nintendo did really well with.

I think it is fantastic, so i hope they continue it in some vein. I think out of all the online features on various consoles, Mii Verse is the best thing going. It could do with perhaps a redesign, but the whole community aspect of it is a real pleasure to scroll through.
