Anyone else feel like its gonna be some ridiculous time like 3 am for us in the UK/Europe? Don't get how NoA can say the 12th, and NoE say the 13th without us getting screwed timezone wise

Honestly I wonder if pre-orders will go up after the presentation. Is that how it usually works? Might need to take the day off.

It won't be. Anything in Japan during their office hours are great for Europe. (UK = Europe)

I'm hoping we'll get a sneak peek on Monolith's next project in this presentation, just like we first saw Xenoblade X back in January 2013's Direct. We need a januaryton once more!

At least we have a date but my god isn't it cutting it way to close to launch?

Since we know between now and then no real games will be discussed or revealed, they will have 2 months time to reveal, market, and hype the system.

And while I trust Nintendo to make fantastic games and this looks like a promising system, their marketing is atrocious. I still know people who don't know what a WiiU is or if it was ever revealed.

I mean I hope divisions of people were fired for that mess but now they want to be a player again but only give themselves 2 months to market?

Id kill for a Xenogears HD release to go along with a XCX 2 to be teased.

Wwhat does this say about E3 though? No one announced their system at E3 but MS with Scorpio.

I'm so excited to have a set date in January! Nintendo is nailing the Switch reveal so far. They gave us the general concept, and now they'll give us the details that matter once the crazy holiday season is over.

What do we think will be the date for the last Wii-U Direct? The one where we watch Miyamoto and reggie recreate that scene from Office Space with the gamepad?

This is pretty much the main reason why I'm gonna watch the Switch Direct.

I want to hear Duckroll say "I JUST CAME 10 TIMES!" again.

Converted, Japanese office hours start at like 1am for us, so if you aren't nocturnal, anything until early Japanese afternoon would be middle of the night/early morning.

Dang. Switch Presentation is on January 12th and I've got a business trip from the 12th through the weekend. I bet preorders open and I completely miss them.

Dang it.

Glad we got that date, hopefully it will calm down some of the speculation between now and then.

Zelda and Mario on the same day? That's not going to happen. That's 2 of Nintendo's biggest games. They need to spread those out. Zelda launch, Mario for Christmas period in 2017. Also, Miyamoto himself said that they'd share more info on the 3D Mario game at E3 in 2017.

I think Switch will launch with a 4D Mario game.

They will revealt that the Mario footage in the reveal was just a tech demo. EAD Tokyo is really working on Metroid and F Zero.

So, is that Samus in a racer?/

I think it's good timing. The system will be fresh in our minds. Nintendo appears to want to start the new year right. It's a different approach telling us this date so early.

Us nerds want things right away (and for what? the system doesn't come out for months). The general public can wait. By the time the news is out people have enough time to make an informed decision and purchase the system.

I'm interested about the games, game play elements, and battery life. I hope Android is on this.

Power doesn't really matter to me. I feel like all current gen systems can output some really gorgeous games. It's not like back in the day where there were huge leaps graphically.

Nintendo...

thank you. Thank you for doing an press conference again and thank you for telling us the date so far in advance. That's a huge step into the right direction.

Now we can hype and speculate to January, these 2 months will surely fly by.

Very happy with how Nintendo handles the Switch so far.

In my Magik 8 ball, it predicts: (Best case scenario)

Switch is going to run $249 to $299. Pro controller is extra $49.

Launch is last week of March. Since 2 million seemed low for anticipated sales.

Switch secrets to be revealed:
Has access to Android App store (Hearthstone), and

Nintendo will unveil a streaming service for graphically demanding games that can't not run on the system.

Chat will be handled by third party apps like Kik, Skype, etc.

Some games will have cross play with Xbox, PC, and Mac.

Esports will be a major focus for Switch.

Nintendo launch games: (2) Zelda, MK8.
Also Miitomo, and Mario Run.

Third party launch physical release:
Activision: (2) Overwatch or Modem warfare remake & Skylanders
EA: (2) Garden warfare 2 and Fifa
Ubisoft: (3) Just dance, rabbids, and either For Honor or R6S
2k:(1) Nba
Bethesda: (1)Skyrim
Capcom: (1) Resident evil 7
Square: (2) Dragon Quest Builders, World of Final Fantasy
Atlus: (1) Persona 5
Codemasters (1): Dirt Rally
Namco: (1) Digimon Next Order
Warner: (1) Lego
Spike Chunsoft: (1) Daganronpa

Streaming service will offer both games for sale individually and a Netflix style service for $9.99/mo. First and third party games included.

Then I expect a few big games for sale to stream: such as games like Rise of Tomb Raider, Doom, Batman, Borderlands, Destiny, Witcher III. Maybe not all these games. But this quality of games.

Possible surprise: Nintendo announces Valve and Rockstar support, will get CS:Go, And Red dead 2 (like the deleted Nintendo tweet using the red dead background) will come via streaming. Other possible surprise they get Trail of Cold Steel 1&2 bundle for Switch.

Nintendo will tease games coming thru out 2017 and early 2018. Including Mario 128, Metroid, Paper Mario port, new IP from Retro, Monster Hunter HD remake, BGE2, Fast RACING NEO, RE Remake 2, Madden, Pokken port, Pokemon HD remake, Splatton, Nintendo Massou game,DK:TF port, Rocket League, Minecraft, Smash, Sonic holiday 2017, Amiiboland game for holiday 2017, and Destiny 2 (even of it is streaming).

So that's realistically the point onwards from which their marketing engine kicks in until release. Is this a normal time period for this? They must be pretty confident that they can market it effectively in that 2 month period.

2 months of marketing is normal, even if they did do the full reveal at E3, the big marketing would have started around Sept.

Yes the hardcore gamers like us would know and follow info from June to Nov, but the people who they need to market to wont care until a few months before launch and thats when you market it big time.

Since the conference is taking place in Japan, does that mean they'll provide live English interpreters? How does this work?

At first I thought no way Metal gear rising comes to Switch. But I forgot Konami was on the list and it is already on Nvidia Shield. You probably are correct. I think Borderlands may come also as a test balloon. It is also in Nvidia Shield, so it will be interesting to see.

Not really at all.

I very much expect it & I doubt anyone would be shocked or angry about it.

P5 will come to the switch.

Yep. Atlus' 3DS games already proved that the market is there for their games. Why would Atlus pass up on releasing their games on Switch out if some misguided sense of loyalty to Sony and their fans. It is a business first and foremost. I expect P5 in the Switch and wouldnt be surprised to see a P3 and P4 release as well.

They should announce a Dark Souls port in 60fps with a new Hyrule area with a Ganon boss fight.

I just wanna see the lore and timeline theories.

I think alot of games that are on NVidia Shield or even Android will get quick and dirty ports

Forget the crossover. Just make a new FromSoftware IP for switch. I know it's a stretch but what if the talk about their future releases being a switch launch title?

I agree 100%. There will be alot of Nvidia Shield ports and with access to Android games, Switch should have a fairly healthy library quickly.

There will be no access to Android games whatsoever

It would be up to developers to port their Android or NVidia Shield games.

Metal Gear Rising and Borderlands are probably the 2 most popular Shield games
