Disappointed with no big announcements, but I do love the content they're adding. Ragnaros in HotS is the highlight for me. Shame the Necromancer won't be out til 2017 considering it's playable at the con already. Arcade mode in Overwatch sounds like it'll be interesting, and Sombra seems cool. Surprised WoW was completely swept under the rug. As a whole I'm worried they intend to just release more and more DLC for their existing games rather than making new ones. That's not going to keep me around.

Anyway, break time then panels.

I used to be a blizzard fan boy for years and years but it's really hard for me to get behind any of these games these days. I own them all but maybe blizzard just isn't for me anymore. The announcements are very ho hum so far. Sad times indeed.

Aye, the entire esports and game-as-a-service angle doesn't do it for me either.

Well. D1 semi-remake, 2 new zones with a patch - presumably coming with season 9 - and Necromancer... in 2017. As paid DLC.

"20 years of a franchise beloved by all. Here's how we show our apprectiation. Meanwhile, please enjoy how we give literally every other of our franchises more attention."

I'll still get it. D4 when, however?

The Necromancer class is cool but I've moved on from Diablo 3. I guess they haven't. Oh well! Back to other games until Diablo 4.

The Steam equivalent of the drunk friend who keeps offering to pay your tab all night.
- New Character for Overwatch
- New map for Overwatch
- New Hearthstone expansion
- 2 new heroes for Heroes of the Storm
- New pirate thing for Heros of the Storm
- Diablo 1 and Necromancer (paid DLC for Necro) in Diablo 3 RoS
- DeepMind is making AI to be good at Starcraft so pls play Starcraft 2

This is REALLY bad. You know your show sucks when the most significant announcement is a hearthstone pack (something they don't even usually do at Blizzcon).

They shouldn't have spent the money on an entire convention if their content is THIS bare bones. I understand the biggest draw is the esports scene so renting out space to just accommodate that would have been better. I feel REALLY bad for people who bought digital tickets or went their in person to see some cool stuff.

its almost like those people go there for...the convention itself, for the people and shit.

its like crying about PAX not having game announcements

I can't believe I'm saying this, but Blizzard has lost me. I used to love this company, but they seem to be shifting away from what I loved about them.

Diablo III is so long in the tooth at this point. I was really confused by their little mini-packs for StarCraft II, and with Diablo III it seems even weirder. They keep adding tiny new zones in Adventure that seem like aborted ideas for full areas in a hypothetical D4 as well as more post-game quality of life features and functionality, which is neat if you're somehow just jumping in now, but a game like this needs at least a full expac to keep excitement up. It feels like it's been years since they put the game into a holding pattern where it felt like a second expansion or full sequel was coming in a year or two, but it's just kept going on.

I was down for seasons when they put in new sets & legendaries/redesigned set bonuses & legendary bonuses/redesigned skills every season, but they've even slowed on that now so I don't really care to play through again.

Now they're selling a new class as part of some kind of DLC pack three years after the last paid expansion?

Cancelled expansion content being re-used with a smaller team working on finishing some of the stuff that was in the works for it whilst another part of the team is working on the expansion; They had a few ideas they toyed around with but they're not in a rush with a Diablo game;

Well, time to set the cryo chamber alarm for 2020.

Maybe by that time they'll be ready to announce something.... and I'll get to wake up and see how President Trumps doing.

I like Hearthstone but I really wanted new Diablo or Diablo 2

guys...

i don't even know what to say or do anymore..

i'm so sorry for everything... i'm terribly sorry, I don't even know how to compensate the clusterfuck that was the opening ceremony

i jusdt dont know

I feel you. I knew I shouldn't have expected grand things for Diablo. Yet, I put my trust into Blizzard. So much suffering. I'll be there to smack stuff ingame should you feel like jumping in again, tho.

You go to PAX for all the things available in many fandoms. Blizzcon is made for big announcements or even worthwhile announcements that need an audience. Most of the panels over the years are about NEW content. Comparing the 2 isn't appropriate.

The writing has been on the wall for a while that Blizzard isn't about the traditional full game release + expansion model anymore. Imagine how much money Overwatch/HotS/Hearthstone are likely pulling in on a regular basis. No way it makes sense for them to spend the millions it takes for a full Diablo game that is only going to earn $60 up front and then a huge drop off in revenue. If anything, I imagine the next Diablo, if there is one, will be a f2p title more akin to Path of Exile or Marvel Heroes.

Character Pack for a Diablo game?

That is a hint that the next mainline Diablo Game will have a Vanilla release with PACKS thereafter. Packs that will be focused on new Characters to play within Sanctuary... that will be for sale... :( O RLY you want to play with the Amazon or d1 style Warrior? Pay us or play HOTS 21 times. :p

Man.. i let myself down thinking a type of tease would have been shown for Diablo 4. :(((

Necro looks like the Witch Doctor to me. (wont be none of this- 20 skellies running around i bet or 30 cows)

Wow the people whining from before about not seeing D3 news I actually feel bad for you now.

Why the hell did they wait until they end for THAT!? I mean seriously, no new game, no new expansion for Diablo 3 just the anniversary event which is pretty good at least better then I was expecting and then the new class everyone already knew was coming... But... its paid DLC? Like you couldn't even give it for free? I mean people would still be disappointed but if it was free it would at least be understandable...

Seriously should have had Diablo to open and ended with Hearthstone expansion (seriously that legendary they showed is sick! Really great idea!), I never understand the choices they make when they select what plays when during press conferences like this.

So... Yeah, not a lot of great things honestly, WoW had nothing, Sombra was a given and the other stuff for Overwatch is okay but not the greatest, Heroes stuff is cool for those who play it but ugh I don't want to play that many games of Heroes of the storm just to get a few skins >.> and Starcraft 2 lasted for like what a few seconds before it was about AI...

Yeah not a great presentation, Hearthstone expansion is clearly the highlight (imo at least) with a really cool way to mix up the gameplay with these multi-class cards and again that legendary sounded awesome, certainly going to be decks designed around using that much like Reno.

While we aren't getting an expansion per se it feels like we're basically getting a good chunk of the content from one. Two new areas and a new hero class is the guts of an expansion, we arent getting any new story content, which isnt really surprising as it offers a terrible ROI for Blizzard. Most peope play it once and then its done, considering the absolute shitshow the story is in D3 (even by Blizzard/videogame standards) I'm happy to be spared more of it.

Goddammit. Everyone wants Diablo 4, Blizzard! More content is great but it's time to advance!

I don't, D3 is in a great place and more content is exactly what I want as opposed to gambling on D4

Honestly, is it? You would think they would announce it at least or show something. The Necro teaser should of lead into coming to D4, the Necromancer.

Well, they've hired people and they have pretty much nothing to announce. If it was for an expansion, we wouldn't get the Necromancer alone next year, he would be part of the expansion.

So yeah, imo they're working on Diablo 4.

The only thing about the Diablo news that annoys me is they were hyping it up like they had some big announcement. Blizzard trolled us all.

I'm aware. Exacerbating the problem. But I do support franchises I like, so that's the way it's gonna go down. I don't, for example, buy Overwatch lootboxes. Pure RNG lottery isn't something I'll support.
