Wow standard looks much better than deluxe.

Speaking of the deluxe - have they detailed what's in it?

It better not be 'pay more to play early'... :(

"Let's do a shot of the guy's back with a weapon in his hand. Lunch anyone?"

Who's paying these clowns.

It's called heavy focus testing.

That would make going Standard option even easier. I bet it'll be stupid shit like MP exclusive stuff. Hopefully nothing related to DLC.

When it became convenient to set the game in a new galaxy so that new players didn't feel lost. :p

So is there any explanation as to why you would want to colonize another galaxy in the first place? Like a galaxy is fucking massive, why would you even bother going to another galaxy

Having a dude with a gun on the front cover actually does quite a lot from a marketing perspective, there's an interesting story from Ken Levine regarding Bioshock on this.

Glad that you can't tell which Ryder it is.

I thougth it was confirmed that it's the dad? Either way I think the box cover is the least important part of representation in this case because box covers are so much focus-tested beyond repair anyways, it's much more important in regards to actual marketing videos, posters etc.

I like the standard edition more.

Not like it matters what the darn box art is. I'm buying it digitally most likely

It works. People like that shit.

Great middle ground would be putting these heavy focus tested covers but also adding a artwork based alternative cover on the backside -just like Doom's cover- so we could swap them if we want.

The reason box art tends to be this way is because the target audience for box art is people who have never heard of your game before, so it tries to make it clear what the game actually is.

Like you could probably figure out that all the games in ElBoxyBrown's post are shooters even if you had never heard of them before.

It's fine. Incredibly redundant with the pose and colors, and I think Mass Effect has a lot of great art they could use instead but marketing and all that.

Like the standard one way more, I honestly thought op had just mixed them up at first until I saw "Deluxe Edition" on the boxart, now I'm wondering if Bioware have mixed them up.

Yep standard cover better etc.

Very excited to play more ME. Still devastated that the one remaster collection I would have happily paid full price for never happened.

And normally when we get boxart like that, after the backlash, they tend to do a much better, reversible cover for the fans. Maybe that'll happen again with this.

Might be that the dad dies and Ryder inherits the uniform ?

You can play as both a dude and a chick, so at least one of the children couldn't comfortably wear the outfit. I also can't see the military just letting one of their soldiers wear an elite officer uniform when they haven't achieved that rank. Chain of command and whatnot.

Besides, it's been heavily implied that the father will be a significant figure for a non-negligible portion of the game.

A reversible cover art is usually what they do after a backlash but the main cover stays the same. If the main cover helps the game sell millions of copies then marketing was right.

I'm hoping one of the strong themes of this game is understanding that finding a new home doesn't mean destroying some one elses home.

The standard one is better, but I'm pretty meh on both. In fact the only time I see box art anymore is in threads like these.

If there's one thing I miss primarily being a digital PC buyer, it's the smell of new game cases with sweet box art to boot :(

Standard > Deluxe for sure.
