Argh. Have to work today. Went up on my lunch and picked up my Pro. Sitting here at work staring at it. 3 and a half hours til I can take it home and begin my 3 day weekend.

The clock is moving sooooo slowwwwwww. Damn.

Is there enough space around your unit? The OG PS4 was quiet until a year of usage and then it started doing the Jet Engine. This was corrected in the CUCH 1200 series, wasn't it? As I had previously owned both the OG Launch day Unit and the CUCH1200 and I could tell the difference
It's in my entertainment center that's completely open from the front and back, yes.

Almost done transferring everything from my launch day OG to my Pro. I'm surprised at how small it is, I have no idea why but I was expecting it to be huge.

Looking to get a new game that'll make use of the pro's extra horsepower.

Any thoughts on which to get? (I appreciate they are different genres, I like all types)

Dishonoured 2
Titanfall 2
Tomb raider

Really? Even Infamous with HDR 4K and the unlocked framerate?

Yeah so far I've tried Infamous (on both modes), Paragon and Rez Infinite. It's a night and day difference between this and my OG PS4 which would overpower the TV's sound.

Those who follow me on Twitter know I've been moaning about my PS4's vacuum noise for a long time now. This alone makes me feel justified in the upgrade.

It could get louder over time but right now, I'm very happy.

Honestly, probably Tomb Raider. It's got the several different modes to test out and the base game looks exceptional.

Didn't expect such a vast improvement but IW has taken my breath away. Can't wait for the Black Ops patch (supposedly day 1?!) as I prefer the MP of that compared to IW.

OMG this isn't a pro specific issue but with ROTTR and stereo headphones Lara's voice and noises so footsteps etc comes from mostly the left ear only cus the camera has an over the shoulder view point

WHY WOULD THEY DO THAT? Urrrrgh

If your PS4 Pro's set to output 1080p in the OS, games will probably default to a 1080p TV optimised mode (if they have one) but you don't have to physically connect a 1080p TV. Games should offer all rendering options with unique benefits no matter what you set the PS4 output to though.

Thanks, that should be all there is to it, right guys?

Im lost in this awesome thread with transfer instructions. So should I deactivate my old ps4 before or after the transfer?? Thank you!!

How are you transferring the data? If you're doing it straight from one to the other using the built in tool, it'll handle activation for you.

Mine is about as loud as my C chassis was when under stress, just without the intermittent high pitch sound (thank god). :(

Gonna have a go in the morning when i finish work, but for now everything is transferred off my old PS4 over the network, took all of 45 minutes, glad it leaves everything intact on the old one too, now i have 2 mirror image PS4's.

I can't seem to figure out how to do the whole USB software update thing. I followed the website steps but it doesn't recognize it.

I haven't played it but I remember reading RofTR has amazing options for the Pro and they did a really good job of updating it... So that's probably your best option if you're looking solely for eye candy and to show off the extra power.

Titanfall 2 I believe is 1440p/60fps though so a big improvement over the OG PS4 so that wouldn't be a bad option either (plus the game is awesome).

Idk anything about Dishonored 2 or it's Pro plans though.

It's been 3 hours and my transfer to the Pro still has 7 hours to go... guessing I won't be playing it today :p

Doing the one where they're both plugged into the router and it's a 500gb ps4 I'm transferring from if that matters

I replaced my Pro 1TB with a 2TB and it went fine. Same experience as standard launch PS4.

I've got the correct folders PS4 > UPDATE > PS4UPDATE.PUP

Wait...does this format the SDD or do I need to do that manually?

Edit: Wait there. Found I had the wrong update file for the full install. Dur. We good now.

No HDR, gorgeous.

Infamous isn't even TRYING, it flat out looks like dog shit :/ . BUT running close to 60 FPS is awesome so I forgive it.

I'll make screens later.

This looks like a bullshot. How is this possible?

Same happened to me when I swapped back the stock HDD on older PS4 before i traded back in. Boot into safe mode, press and hold the power switch long enough to hear the beep sound and it would take you right to it and you re-install firmware there and get going!

Would it be quicker to transfer files using an external HDD?

I done just shy of 300GB in about 45 minutes over a Gigabit network, with the network the data is being sent and received at the same time, with an external drive you need to wait all the time for it to backup, then wait again whilst it transfers so i would imagine it would be slower.

Wow, you must only have a 100MB network then

Anyone get a promo code from Amazon for buying the Pro that gives you $20 off Infinite Warfare? Figuring with my prime discount I might as well... but then I get to the page and the prime discount is only 10% and the code doesn't work.

1. Why only 10%?
2. Has anyone had a code work?

The lack of/shape of the packaging from Amazon is making me get rather anxious. It was just shipped in a box of similar size with a small sheet of paper as a buffer on the top. Outside box was wrecked to hell.

I am sure it will be fine but sheesh.

I'm sure others here with a 2160p tv must have noticed by now. But even regular unpatched PS4 games look so much better on the Pro, versus the 1080p output of the OG PS4. Bloodborne looks great at scaled '4k' output on the pro, even without a patch.

At least on my tv (Samsung KS9000 (8000 in EU) flat). The Pro's scaling of games natively to 2160p output is great. The games look amazing.

*wipes brow*

I only bought this tv last week for the Pro, and was getting worried about the IQ in games, but thankfully it indeed was og ps4 maxing out at 1080p, and then the tv had to take over and scale the whole ps4 image up. The games looked meh and rough. Happy to say they look glorious now ^_^

Hope everyone else's Pro experiences are good too.

Do you have the correct firmware file for your situation? There's one for updating the firmware from previous version and one for a completely fresh install. The latter is much bigger in size.

Yeah, find the file that's up to 900MB. That's the one you want for the full install.

Ok, connecting both PS4s to PSN through LAN and router seems to fix the server timeout error ( NW - 31175 - 7 ) with Wifi - direct LAN cable configuration. It looks like that OG PS4 was loosing WLAN connection before the preparation for the transfer could be finished, so it failed.

After I connected everything to router (found second LAN cable fortunately) the transfer process has started. Will need like 50 min for 150 GB.
