Bought the ps4 pro today. Had to make a choice, keep it in the room with 4k HDR tv and play very limited, 1 to 2 hrs a day or place it on a 1080P tv and play 6 or more hrs a day.

I went with 1080P tv choice. What do you say gaf, good call?

Ratchet and Clank... goodness.

Skyrim looks great too, but clearly has worse performance. Not happy there. Needs to be addressed. Use checkerboard instead of native if it's going to do that to framerate.

I just tried Titanfall 2 on my 1440p monitor.

I am delighted with how good it looks.

Supersampled 1080p output looks fantastic with the buttery smooth frame rate.

I was not expecting it to look this good in my office. Maybe it will reside here longer than I thought it would.

One small gripe. The corner of my console seems a little smudged above the PS4 logo.

Move the 4K TV to the area you spend 6hrs.

Using it vs not using it is a good call but you're missing out on the whole point of the console tbh.

Swap the TVs?

Trying to decide whether to get this. I dont have a 4k tv but the upgrades seem nice regardless.

Can i ba kup my current PS4 to a hard drive and restore to the new one from there? I would be trading in the old one

I wish I could but it's not possible. The 4k tv room is full of traffic and all just relax and watch tv and stream Netflix, I wouldn't wanna take that away from family.

Quick question, getting a pro and giving my existing PS4 to a room mate. Is it possible to share one PS plus subscription with both consoles? If so, does it share all the features ala Monthly games, Online etc.?

Any caveats I should be aware of?

Why did they move the light bar on the console to the front so that it's constantly shining in your face? I have to say I really hate that.

Is that annoying/distracting anyone else?

Does COD IW selects 4k on its own; or do I need to make sure it does? Also, is it mp only or 4k in campaign mode to?

One thing is not really clear to me: I have a new Sony 4K TV and a new AV receiver that supports HDR, to use HDR with PS4 Pro can I connect it to the AV receiver (as all the other devices I have) or I need to connect it directly to the TV (hope not)?

Yes, if the receiver supports 4k/hdr passthrough then you can go through it

You can share PS Plus on both consoles. But you have to choose one of them which will be your primary console. For the primary console, the PS Plus benefits will be shared across all accounts. Meaning, all accounts will have access to online multiplayer, the free games.

For the PS4 which isn't set as primary for said account, online multiplayer and access to the ps plus games is limited to that one account. That and I think you need to be online to access your PS Plus games.

Deus Ex Mankind Divided is looking realllly good. All the edges are so clean. I'm guessing that's the downsampling doing work.
How's the performance, I thought I read somewhere that it's worse but I've been hoping I'm mistaken. It's still downloading rn so I can't try it myself.

Ah thanks. So I imagine you can't really have two PS4s logged into the same account at the same time then. Complicates things a bit, but cool thanks for the feedback =)

Yeah, but the ps4 that's set as your primary allows all profiles access to the ps+ benefits.

Edit: I read that wrong. Sorry.

So if I understand this correctly, what you would do at the end is have the second PS4 log into the account that has PS+ access (aka the primary account) and have the primary PS4 using a secondary account (enjoying the benefits of having the primary marking)

I am so conflicted...

If I get a PS4Pro by turning back the day one PS4 I'd get 2 more years of warranty, and a console that would be able to use my 4K TV.

But do I really want to spend €200 and giving back 2 games?

The consumer in me screams "YES DO IT" the accountant in me tells me not to do it.

After seeing games in 4K going with 1080p would be impossible for me

Also you shouldn't be playing more than 2 hours a day.

Seems about the same to be honest. The performance was never great. Not any better but not any worse. Trying to go guns blazing will tank the framerate, but that also goes for the standard version. I do wish they gave us some options though.

Picked this up at lunch, and finally got a chance to dive into things in the evening. First time PS4 owner, although I'd collected a few games (Last of Us Remastered, Until Dawn) and PS VR in preparation for the Pro's arrival.

1) So I'm really gonna have to go through an absurd plugging-and-unplugging ritual ever time I want to play VR, huh? That's not great. It's not the end of the world either, of course, but it definitely will make playing in VR something that has to be planned, rather than a spontaneous "might as well throw on the PS4."

2) As I expected, I ended up getting informed that I'm limited in terms of HDR—I made a $200, 5" choice in going with an M-Series over a P-Series Vizio, and so I'm getting "2K HDR." However, toggling it on and off during Last of Us still showed a difference, and the game looks amazing, so I'm not going to complain.

3) I will say, though, that it's tough not to have a game to really "compare" given I'd never played any of them before (except for the VR stuff, which I didn't have time to really get to individually this evening). Even TV and movies is tough—I upgraded Netflix and watched a bit of The Crown in 4K, and it looked spectacular, but not such that I was truly blown away. Found some of the YouTube stuff more impressive, but might try to find something to compare between the XBox and the PS4 to see how much the contrast is.

4) So Sony really doesn't let you change the country on accounts still? I haven't used my PS3 much since I got my Xbox One two years ago, and it hasn't been plugged in since I moved last year, so I had forgotten that I had a separate "U.S." account in addition to my primary Canadian one. Frustrating that I "wasted" my primary username on an account that is now useless (as I'm not going to put my PS+ on the Canadian account and be forced to pay the higher taxes that come with it), but I guess that's what happens when you can't see into the future.

On the whole, happy to have held out for a bit more power—curious to try some more VR stuff in the weeks ahead.

Exactly.

The person using the account that doesn't have ps+(on the ps set to primary) won't have auto cloud saves.

And if you're using your "main" playstation without setting it to primary you won't have access to your digital content if you don't have internet. Something to keep in mind.

My Pro is pretty damn loud in UC4. Wonder if new thermal paste would quiet it down.

Are you playing while the disc installs ? Because yeah the BD drive can get loud. But the game itself is pretty quiet. Just played a round MP (digital) and my Pro didn´t gave a peep. My OG PS4 usually goes into frenzy mode in MP but not so the Pro.

Ah damn, yeah a high frame rate option would be nice but it's not biggie I guess I'll continue my play through then with some glorious super sampling
