WE BACK!!!

Pretty sure they tried that with Maverick hunter x, one of the best remakes. And people didn't give two shits. Shame because they were looking to make X2, and X3. Same thing happen with powered Up.

I feel like putting it on PSP and PSP alone hurt it a lot.

DMC seems pretty dormant nowadays tbh

*Incoming, we just got HD ports of old games!"

We'll definitely get more HD Remasters, Capcom has said that's part of their business strategy going forward and the HD Remasters have been a success so far to my knowledge.

But this I think is talking about something else.

Zack and Wiki. The best 3P game on Switch!
The Switch isn't even out yet. Capcom wants to make money. Not go broke.

Nioh is the closest we're getting to Onimusha huh guys?
I'm guessing that in between those "IP Revivals", Capcom gonna drop a Monster Hunter on mobile.

They probably mean stuff like Onimusha, cause DMC isn't dormant and never was. Speaking of DMC, in all likelihood a new DMC is one of their big releases for 2018 with an announcement sometime next year (probably E3).

There's a Mega Man revival coming for mobile (already announced), and they've historically listed Devil May Cry and Lost Planet in their list of brands even after they stopped releasing games in either series.

They didn't really stop releasing DMC games, though. It only feels like it because of the relative silence around the series. DMC4SE started development in late 2013 or early 2014, and is basically a new entry with all the extra content they added, and it's clear to me looking at what else Capcom is doing (mainline titles in multiple major franchises, even games like RE2 Remake and MvC4. Releasing remasters to prepare for new releases) that a new mainline DMC is in development.

The modern Onimusha of this gen is NiOh so we don't need everything else.

And the only one capable of making a new DMC isn't Capcom anymore.
They should rely on Platinum to do it.

I'd prefer to see a new Dino Crisis.
After RE7 it would be a great return.
It's really just super shocking Capcom didn't even tease a Dino crisis game after jurassic world did fucking gangbusters.

Seems like nothing but money left on the table, as the market is clearly there.

Onimusha isn't dormant by these standards either though because Onimusha Souls is actually quite successful.

If we're going to assume that they'll definitely make another Third Person Shooter, wouldn't Lost Planet be the better bet?

A TPS featuring dinosaurs with RE6 level of combat mechanics would be a far easier sell, even to people unfamiliar with either series, than a new Lost Planet I think.

DC would be pretty easy to reboot and would allow for a lot more oomph. They could also time it to release close to the new Jurassic Park movie (which I believe is in the works?) and ride that wave as well.

5 years isn't that long of time in my view.

I would gladly take Viewtiful Joe 3 though. It's been 12 years since the last main entry, and 11 since the newest game in the series.

For something that's s praised fighter coupled with a big licensed IP that's not a lot of units shipped over 3 games.

I'm guessing the first two games didn't sell all that much - did any 2D fighters on PS1 sell particularly much. Plus, the Marvel brand is much bigger now than it was back then.

Itsuno is still at Capcom. Just because they lost Neo_G isn't a dealbreaker. Technically he had little if anything to do with DMC3.

Don't get me wrong, he's a big loss, but not the end of the series. Platinum should continue to do what Platinum does.
