Misread the OP didn't see the 1080p render. Not as exciting, but improved graphics are welcome, and they are showing support for the Pro. Will be interested to see if they tweak it further. The game would look great with a TF2, IW level of IQ.

It would appear that way. I have an i7 paired with a 1070 I run most games at 1440p 60fps and even some at 4k 30fps. But I have to settle for 1080p 60 with the division. I don't think the PS4 Pro is as powerful as my PC.

Consoles aren't using HFTS, which is the BIG setting that kills performance.

Going from high to HFTS reduces your framerate by almost 20 in this case. Worth it if you have the power though.

The Division runs at 30fps on PS4 while BF1 so 60fps so I don't get your comparison. There is no way this patch used much of any of the extra resources. It looks a hell of lot better than The Division as well.

I don't agree but I guess it's subjective. I can tell you that The DIvision is much more technically advanced compared to BF1 though. The impressive thing about BF1 is how well it runs compared to how it looks.

You have to understand that some advanced graphic settings like realistic shadows would nullify the entire power difference between both PS4 models. Like the above mentioned HFTS for example. You can't just look at resolution and framerate and say they didn't do anything.

Yeah I've noticed that shadow setting is very demanding especially at higher resolutions.

I also agree that it looks more impressive than BF1. The detail in the city and environment is absolutely staggering. Also the day/night transitions are very nice and the lighting in general is superb.

Disappointed!!

I was really looking forward till The Division getting some PS4 PRO love, hoping for at least 1440p, with AA.... But nope, it kind'a looks the same, with crisper text.

I actually think the 4K UI still needs improved as I can see badly aligned text shadow in a load of places but not in others. Can anyone else see this?

Yup. Definitely looks nice. I tried logging in but I was stuck at the connecting screen (maybe server maintenance).

cool, hopefully you get in soon and wouldn't mind giving some impressions.. This game already looks good now to add pro support when nobody would blame them if they didn't is awesome.

cool. never finished the game's campaign. will go back now and do so and hit max level. well, i say that, we'll see. my black friday haul was pretty big so the backlog kinda grew an extra appendage.

Nope, they were cube maps

However I would love to be proven wrong.
Absolutely were not cube maps for the puddles on the ground (only windows and such were cube). I probably have some screenshot somewhere of it before but frankly even if I don't, it was one of my favorite graphical features and it's been there all along lol

I first noticed it because the changing screens on Madison Square Garden have always been reflected accurately on the puddles surrounding the building as the images changed.

Maybe they upped the resolution of reflections, but the puddles were always similar to what you posted.

Overwatch had a similar PS4 Pro patch that rendered the UI in 4k but left the game the same except for very minor texture improvements in certain cases.

It already had SSR on consoles for puddles, shiny roads and such (reflections were set to high), it's easy to check if the reflection were SSR for yourself. What it didn't have was additional environmental reflections on secondary objects like shiny objects like car windows and metal surfaces (As evidenced here on PS4 vs PC) and one particular instance of planer reflection on metallic surface to reflect the character back when he/she is near it (As seen here)...which is what I assume they have now.

Both of these might now be included in the PS Pro version, along with higher resolution of reflections (basically the equivalent of Very High preset)...will need to check and confirm though.

Nope it did have SSR and was mixed with cubemaps..which is par for the course.
You won't find a single game that exclusively uses SSR due to the limiting nature of SSR.

Yea I'm glad Massive actually they did something. I still think it's a bit more than what's listed in the patch notes tho.

My mistake.

So the patch was even more pathetic. Good job ubi

They added Pro support, but that doesn't mean it will be the last Pro patch.

Could have just been laying the groundwork while they optimize. We'all have to wait and see.

Has Massive been vocal on Twitter? Maybe someone can inquire about it.

Man they didn't have to patch this but did anyway and people are complaining.

Why not just be grateful they did anything at all? Curious to see the improved effects mentioned

The original DF analysis said the console versions were missing the extra reflections and shadows that the PC version had. Maybe thats what they added?

Cant imagine how tiny text bad the UI will look in 4k lol...every game nees to have an option for bigger text from now on damnit,I am going blind here...besides that, kudos on doing a Pro patch.

Uhh.

Tiny Text will look infinitely better in 4K..

I think you're expecting a bit much here guys. I have a 1070 and can't even run the game locked 30 at 1440p maxed. It still has severe drops during fights. It's a very demanding game.

We are not running the game on Max.

I wish we get 1800p checkerboarded, at medium/high (just like the original PS4 release) at 30 frames.

Also.... The original frame buffer could get from 1000p up to 1080p. So... They just locked the resolution down and added a few sparkles.

lol so it went from rendering at 1080p to rendering at........1080p

what a patch

There is more to graphics than resolution. I'm a huge 4K guy, but let's wait and see what all they've done here.

Also. It's a free patch for a year old game.

Game came out in March, I'm pleased they put in the effort and money to MAKE a pro patch. Wish more companies would (Diablo 3 I'm looking at you).

aren't seasons and anniversary update coming ?
i can see them push pro patch with it.

better reflection/shadow is a good choice imo because they are too foten at low resolution on console.

Lord Error

Insane For Sony
On another positive side the game also probably won't drop frames anymore. I know it didn't do that much before ether, but now it will probably be locked.

Has any Pro patch made a game worth buying if you were not already interested?
Feel like everyone should buy Mickey's Mouseketeers: On Patrol with Addition and Subtraction for the awesome work they did for the Pro.

The integers now render in 4K and the particle effects during the successful answer animations are sublime. It's the best-looking K-12 edutainment title ever, by a long shot.

Definitely something you'll want to show off to your friends and family.

Can't wait to try it out tonight. To those who have played Survival, how is it? Is it separate from the main game or is there a section on the map you have to travel to?

You get to it from lower part of the Base of Operations. It is its own game mode. Everyone starts with a pistol. You'll need to to find and/or craft upgrades as you work your way to the middle of the map in the DZ to extract yourself and the anti virals. You can select if you want PVP or PVE and if you cueue solo, the game tries to match you with other solo players (works the same with groups)

I played one match before going to work this morning and had a lot of fun with it. Looking forward to playing it some more.

At the end of every Survival session, it adds up whatever your score is and rewards you sealed caches with gear for your main character.

You join it in the BoO like Underground. Its really fun and adds a lot of replay value. Like a whole new game.

Wow, sounds awesome. Thanks for the replies.

D= Hopefully there is a sale this weekend. Is the pc population still active?

There's a decent number of players, on Steam there's 17K+ concurrent players atm, although I'm not sure how many are playing outside of Steam using the Uplay client.
It also went pretty low on steam to sub 10k a few weeks ago before the latest updates.

I think there's supposed to be a steam sale on the 22nd so it'll probably come back on sale then.
