Media Create Sales: Week 51, 2016 (Dec 19 - Dec 25)

Just noticed 3DS HW actually did better this year than in 2015? Never thought I'd see that happen, though as mentioned above, it did help that Christmas was on Sunday (sales were not split in two weeks, like last year).

huh?

BC isn't really all that important.

I would assume he's referring to week 51 2015 vs. week 51 2016.

Yeah that would make sense. Both the 3DS and PS4 numbers are largely increased, the Vita is down, and my goodness at the Wii-U drop:

8.417 (2016) vs. 101.122 (2015)

It's being discontinued soon, and Nintendo (+ retailers) do not want any units left when the Switch comes out.

Week 51 sales only, my bad (should've specified that).

Sandfox got your back, lol.

Not really - 3DS isnt going anywhere and people still have a device to play 3DS games. Sacrificing too much for BC didnt work out well for Wii to WiiU.

YW3 games in the end will sell +2m when its all said and done - not that bad for "bomba", considering it still easily sold twice as much as FFXV.

Pretty much this - the games are designed that way that even if you dont care about the building level aspect there is enough for you to play with.

Having BC isn't what made Wii U that weak. They could've had the same CPU with more cores and the same GPU with more shader units.
As for 3DS, it's an ARM11 CPU which is also compatible with ARM Cortex A57. As for the GPU, they could've worked out a solution. Thing is they didn't wanted to go this far but yeah, I agree it would've driven the cost higher. But it wasn't a same case as Wii U, since the architecture would've been the same.

Thread title is a lie? Where are the Media Create sales?

4Gamer already on vacation, they'll share their data on January 5th. Maybe Media Create update their website tomorrow with Top 50, though (and/or Gamer share their data tomorrow).

Last year the Wii U had Splatoon and Mario Maker to give it some life.

This year is abysmal for Xbox. I mean, never did specially well, but looking the last year's numbers (that are atrocious, tbh) are more than double, keeping in mind that this year they have released the slim version...

Only weeks PS3 did over 100k in a week were PS3 Slim release, FFXIII launch week and following week after that. PS4 does 107k without any noteworthy releases this week and XV being weeks old (and not as big hardware mover as in past). Impressive.

I pretend a ban for Chris

Btw, impressive 3DS and PS4 sales imho. And not only this week but for the entire year.
GREAT sales for Pokemon and especially Mario Maker. Miitopia too is not a gangbuster seller but still a very solid game for the JP market. YW3 will surpass the 2 millions mark counting all three version, as FFXV will surpass the 1 million mark soon.

I know that the comparison isn't exactly apples-to-apples, due to Christmas being on Sunday, but still

So the game has as much pre-made content and properly designed levels as something like NSMB?

100 unique levels with 2 bonus challenges to complete for each. Those challenges are a game changer.

So, yes. There is a proper Mario game in there that people are missing out on. Not comparable with those pre-made levels in the Wii U original in any way. Some of the challenges are super hard, some are really fun, some are just power fantasies. There's even one that encourages you to learn how to fly with the SMW cape properly, something you never really needed to learn before.

If Mario Maker 3DS with all its shortcomings is doing this good, there is no doubt a Switch port is coming

Like that ever was in question :p

So i heard momotaro is made by valhalla?

Yes.

Yup. With just one week in Japan, Momotetsu 2017 has most likely sold more than Devil's Third did LTD worldwide, though we don't have data for that one. A much better deal for Nintendo this time around.

Does it matter though? Valhalla got as much money from sales of Devil's Third as they will from Momotetsu.

0 fucking dollars.

OG Gameboy 2.0.

Nintendo made a lot of moves to put themselves in a fairly good position WW this holiday season and get people talking about their brand.
