Xbox One Backwards Compatibility Includes Nearly 20% Of 360 Library

I need:

Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection.

I also want:

Two Worlds I, II (I forgave the huge amount of technical jank, and objectively worse writing/voice acting, I enjoyed Two Worlds more than Oblivion)

50 Cent Blood on the Sand.

Whatever else is sitting in my arcade that hasn't been included.

I say this in every BC thread just in case someone important is reading

Project Gotham Racing 4 PLEASE

PLSSSSSSSSSSSS

Backwards compatibility has been awesome so far, but I would love to see the following games added to it:

Assassin's Creed: Rogue
Assassin's Creed III
Dead Space 2
Dead Space 3
Splinter Cell: Blacklist
Call of Duty: Black Ops II
Batman: Arkham Origins
Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate
Max Payne 3
Crackdown
Crackdown 2

I am sure there are more, but those are the ones that spring to mind.

I think... well... mmmm... there was no Crackdown 3, wasn't it?

Ubisoft kind of confirmed via twitter that AC: Rogue is not in their plans

Ooh, thanks for the heads-up on Killer is Dead being on sale, OP. Grasshopper stuff is a guilty pleasure, never got around to buying that one.

Daytona USA shouldn't be a licensing issue if they currently still able to sell it digitally, I'd imagine.

Outrun is probably screwed though unless an Outrun 3 gets made.

Out of curiosity, what's the reason that Microsoft needs to relicense every title for their BC effort, whereas it never appeared necessary in the past (PS1 -> PS2 BC, Wii -> Wii U BC)? I assume them being able to sell digital copies of games is a factor? Could it also because of their emulator solution, which requires tinkering with each game?

Broadcast streaming/clip sharing would be one of the major reasons if there's licensed music in the title. Your examples from prior gen are all in-home and not public display/distribution/audience.

Yeah, but they also shutted the platform a few months before they said they would support, who knows if that's still the plan?

Microsoft have stated that they are working on a solution to preserve them.

Why these articles keep forgetting xblig?

SOOOOO many good games for so cheap. I wish the press yould make a big deal about it so Ms can preserve it going forward as well.

I never really got into xblig. I know it sounds silly, but I think it was because they didn't have achievements. I like how every game is weighted equally on xbox one (achievement wise). What are the xblig I missed that are great?

Yeah, it's been pretty great. But I am still waiting on many more. Namely:

Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen
Red Faction: Guerilla
Alice: Madness Returns
Viking: Battle for Asgard
The Darkness
Fable Anniversary
The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena
Ninja Gaiden II
Dragon Age: Origins
Lost Planet 1 & 2
Divinity II: The Dragon Knight Saga
Conan
Dark Messiah of Might and Magic: Elements

It's funny to think Microsoft is actually the largest publisher this year because they are obtaining publishing rights for every single one of the BC games they put out.

They've done a great job with this and I hope it continues. I still need Tales of Vesperia and Vanquish before I can retire my 360.

I wonder how much it costs though.
So many licenses, do they even turn a profit on the copies sold on Xbox One?

They did a great job with the 360 BC on Xbox One. Perfect 'emulation' and often with even better performance than the original. And with the XB1 features on top!

Now I hope next year they announce OG Xbox BC, or at the very least release some 'best of' compilations.

I want to play PGR2 in native 4K on Scorpio!

Once they bring Crackdown, I'll be a happy camper. Oh and maybe the original Modern Warfare.

Unless I missed these???

MW ain't happening.

Music licensing is a bitch. Karaoke stuff is even worse.

Plus like someone said, streaming of said music/ karaoke could need a license.

I doubt Microsoft cares too much about turning profits on individual games. They'll probably make profit on the bigger games like Red Dead and Black Ops, but I'm sure they're fine taking a loss on smaller titles. The bigger the BC library, the more 360 gamers they'll have moving over to XB1, which means more people they can sell current gen software to. I'm just one person and this is definitely anecdotal, but the BC announcement was what ended up pushing me to get an XB1.

I have a lot of 360 games on my HDD that I don't know when I'll have time to play, but filling the list of BC games is so satisfying so I keep buying them ._.

Yea but I wonder how much it took for Phil to get it up and running. I'm sure it's very important to him, but it couldn't have been cheap.

Unfortunately, the game I care about most isn't likely to see support any time soon. Give me support for Culdcept and I will sign your praise, MS.

Catherine IS an excellent title, though. I am going to grab that one myself.

Oh, and Nier would be nice.

I can't believe that with Nier: Automata on the horizon, they haven't gotten BC for the original yet.

I also need:
Lollipop Chainsaw
Condemned 2
Naruto: Rise of a Nina & The Broken Bond
Vanquish
Tales of Vesperia
Eternal Sonata

Then I can finally free up the space used by the 360.

Maybe. Though they could just not stream the music I guess. Not really sure about the karaoke stuff though. What would cause that to be an issue with BC, but not with selling the game digitally in general?

We're scraping the bottom of the barrel now if these are the biggest omissions...

Don't make me have to slap you.

Isn't the Nier sequel a PS4 exclusive? That could be why.
