Atlus USA kills rumors | no PC & Switch versions of Persona 5 & Yakuza 0

How is that ? It's not a first. Not only that but it's not a they as the company but as the american branch.
It would be a first for Atlus, don't treat them like they're Ubisoft. Come on man is it really that hard to see why? If they really are then I guess all of those Nintendo exclusives are coming to Vita sometime soon? They are the same company that release P4 2 years after the PS3 on an old system everyone moved on from. We're damn lucky to even get a PS4 version.

I haven't been following the price of the game so I don't know. Stop trying to equal the catastrophic bomb that was the PC version to PS4. PS4 SKU sold plentiful in Asia. In the West it did not bomb, though it did not do well.

Right, the famous dollar humble bundle. Stop trying to equal what ? That's just what it is. It debuted at 30k in USA. Do you have newer numbers ?

Didn't know the Switch version rumor exist...

Its more so that the Switch is new and people want it to have every Japanese game that being made to release for it.

That and Atlus has done portable versions before even though there no indication yet of a portable version/port for the switch in development.

I'm not sure what will be funnier: The inevitable "wait vindicated" posts if these do eventually get ported or the realization that they've denied themselves two great games for an extended period of time just to feel "vindicated".

"See? We were right! I know everyone else played Persona 5 two years ago, but hot damn, we were right!!!"

There's nothing wrong with waiting for a game to play the best version available. Some of us have limited gaming time and would want to play the game at its very best.

I never understood why people want games to purposely be held back but then ask for remasters at the same time...

I'm actually not arguing it's the case here. I'm just answering to your question on whenever a company would hide their plans on other platform releases.

I'm sorry the PC potato race has to constantly port beg.

Gamefaq level of post. Thanks for raising the discussion with console war vocabulary.

Steam WW LTD: 35k
PS4 1 month in US : 31k

I don't think you know what you are talking about.

And where's the game is sitting now in West ? Do you have numbers ? Say it was sitting at 120k in West on PS4, does a 90k difference make it dramatic ?

Remember when people expected every Sega game would get released for PC noe.

lmao

It's funny, in retrospect. I keep telling people to not expect a game to hit PC/other systems unless the developers confirm it. The tags and shit don't matter. It'll save you grief in the long run.

Perhaps. That doesn't mean anyone should listen to the business acumen of some Joe Blowhards on the internet regarding the CBA of porting.

Give that man his soul back. Jesus.

Remember when NA PR was adamant Persona 5 was launching in 2015?

I'm not saying he's wrong, I'm saying I don't trust Atlus PR unless it's a press release.

A 3ds port of P5 was more likley than this. Atlus isn't in the buisness of even approaching a level of technical competence to make a PC port of a ps3 port.
Yakuza games on the PC would be great but not a thing that team would consider at all.

edit:

But we can more confidently say that the persona team over in japan aren't technical wizards or consider other markets to the extent to consider the PC platform.

Actually it sold a bit less on its first month than Steam LTD. Pretty decent considering DQH was a late port that was just dropped on the store one day without any marketing.

Japanese companies have shown time and time again they don't really know how to do business.

Yes, I'm just pointing out that despite DQH bombing in general, the PS4 version bombed significantly less (yes, that's due to factors, but end sales are sales).

Right, the famous dollar humble bundle. Stop trying to equal what ? That's just what it is. It debuted at 30k in USA. Do you have newer numbers ?

ToZ wasn't 30k. It was higher. Let me look at my data.

Is there any reason to believe that it would? I don't see anything that would be set in stone about sales.

PC sales are unknown. Persona 4 Golden sold like >320k on Vita alone in Japan. That's a known factor.

It'll end up on PC eventually if you wait long enough. Legally or not is another question.

I was talking about DQH. Don't apologize, I should've been more precise again :p

How in the fuck? But it's a cross-platform game! Come ooooon Pro ;-;

Good news about Yakuza tho.

The gameplay is going to be like 90% menus and turn based combat. I'm all for putting the extra PS4 juice into nicer visuals. 30fps will be fine.
I get the PC begging but Switch begging?

I'm not that big on the Switch yet, but a portable way to play Persona 5 would be swell. Vita version of Persona 4 and PSP version of Persona 3 are my preferred way to play those games.

I like grinding and dungeon-crawling on the couch while watching something on TV, or on the train, or airplane (I travel a lot for work). The nice thing with the Switch is that I have that flexibility, so I was hoping for P5 to come to that platform at some point.

I'll be doing just that, but with a Vita. Anyway who knows it may come, it might just take a long while.

Why are people talking about Switch rumors? Where in hell did they get that info? Someones ass? Or that loser CratridgeGames on twitter?

Every single game being developed right now should come to the Switch because why the fck not?

At least that's the mentality of many Switch believers, I think.

Shit. I was totally holding out on an Ouya port too.

Seriously though, I never imagined P5 coming to Steam and this is just reaffirming that thought.

The toxicity in this thread over wanting more options to play this game is abhorrent. People name calling ("PC potato race" "big baby," etc.) should be ashamed of themselves for getting invested enough in the release status of a single video game in order to resort to personal attacks.

As far as the game is concerned, I've got it preordered on the PS3 and am glad that Atlus is bringing that version over.

People wanting to play Persona 5 on Steam, the Switch, and the Xbox One aren't wrong for desiring it, seeing as how Sony has no money in the game's development or marketing.

There are still people waiting for PS3 emulation to become stable JUST to play Demon's Souls. They're that adamant against buying a console. It's gonna be the latter.

I will buy Persona 5 on PS4. But hey, Atlus, if you ever decide to release that Switch version, I will double dip for that handheld goodness. Deal? Cool.

Yeah it's not make or break for me, but that sleek art-style would only benefit from a more fluid animation.

Why is this funny? Is there a reason to believe that a Vita version wouldn't outsell a PC version?

Considering the development cost of bringing it to a super low spec device, combined with the lower MSRP and the need for a physical release - no I really doubt the Vita version would make more money (especially in 2017). The fact that there is a PS3 version is also mind boggling. The truth is that these games are made 100% for Japan and Atlus considers revenue beyond that purely as a bonus and don't try to depend on it for whatever reason.

But it's a fact though. This isn't sarcastic or ill manered. Hardin is in a though position. Do people really expected him to come out and say "Yes it's happening !" if it wasn't announced ? I'm not saying it's happening or whatever. I'm saying that PR have to stick to strict disclosed informations. They either don't know OR they have to wait.

I understand all this. Like I said it's not the first time he talked about it and last time we had the same kind of posts. That's why I don't understand why he wastes his time on something that surely won't solve anything. On the contrary, it just make the situation worse cause people just believe in what they want.

I mean maybe he probably doesn't know all Atlus plans, but he surely know more than us. He has the means to know what's going on right now, but it's not like he's lying which is the situation I adressed as sarcastic and ill manered behaviour.

How else do you go into threads about games not coming to your platform to say "YESS 1% chance it is coming!!!! NO NEED 4 PS4 lol sonyyy" to that extent.

Not true for Yakuza and not totally true on the marketing front for P5. At least in Japan, they did some noticeable ads tying the PS4 price drop with the release of P5. It'll be interesting to see if they made any deal to do some kind of NA marketing.

This is a surprising opinion to hold. FFVII, VIII, and XIII sold ~2.5 million copies on PC despite being old and having some questionable porting in areas. The thirst is real.

Compare that to a completely dead portable, I don't see a comparison. Not to mention the margins PC sales are able to command due to the negligible physical presence.

Wait, what? Do tell...
Someone from 8-4 (maybe johntv) let slip that MS didn't pay for the localization as was long assumed to be the reason for it's 360 exclusivity. We probably just didn't Vesperia PS3 because it fell in a dead zone for Tales localization efforts (along with Graces Wii and Hearts DS).

It bombed in the west everywhere. All DQ games seem to be bombing outside the mainline installments though, probably because those are the only ones getting any real promotion. It's been this way since DQVIII so it really shouldn't come as a surprise either.

We don't know how it sold in Asia either. It did well in Japan.
