Only four dungeons?

Yeah, it's disappointing. Don't buy the game because it's going to suck like Majora's Mask that only has 4 dungeons.

I wonder if you have 4 main dungeons, but then the 4 bio-mechanical Guardian bosses/dungeons as well. The dungeon they approached in TGA gameplay segment was vastly different from any of these 'colossi' bosses.

You're right. Majora's Mask's dungeons do suck.
I always enjoyed the path to the dungeon more than the dungeons themselves.

Saw that trailer on Facebook. Man, that almost made me buy a Switch. Seriously, what a good trailer, and holy moly at those locations. Kinda brings back memories of riding through Ocarina of Time for the first time.

This is going to be a classic.

Why didn't Link break down tho?

Not going to lie. Making Link more of a character with his own motivations/emotions and less of a "tool" has been something I've hoped they would do for a while. They have gone slightly into it from time to time, like I think I remember a scene from SS that was similar to this but with the rolls reversed, Link breaking down and Zelda not.

That's looking very likely, but it hasn't been confirmed yet. We've seen a lot of structures that look dungeon-esque, perhaps there are medium sized dungeons to go along with the 4 giant monster dungeons. Alternatively, the giant monsters might not be dungeons at all, and you can only beat them after you've completed the dungeon(s) in the area.

Wait really?

Hype majorly diminished. Dungeons were always my favorite part, and why Twilight Princess is my favorite game of all time.
The shrines are like mini-dungeons and there's 100 of them. If the dungeons are truely epic then having only 4 will be really impactful and leave a lasting feeling with us.

I think the dragon and Ganon's castle could be dungeons too, so 6.

It's almost certain that castle is a dungeon. If the 4 number speculation is true and you count the possible ship then 6 is a decent number. We're not even factoring in how big of difficult they could be. I'd take fewer harder and longer dungeons over more of them. Especially with the over 100 Shrines that are get harder.

Ganon's castle is almost always a repeat dungeon, sometimes with repeat bosses as well. It shouldn't count.

Not the best comparison, but I took some screenshots from IGN's switch footage and compared them to some of Nintendo's Wii U footage from E3.

Wii U first in pair, Switch second (with IGN's logo in the corner)

IGN's footage seems kind of washed out, but draw distances seems to be a lot better. Switch is higher res (obviously), but there are lighting changes and texture quality seems muddier (possibly because of the quality of the direct capture, but I don't think so). The second set of images favors Wii U in my opinion, especially since the open door doesn't even cast light in the Switch version. The clouds above the volcano also seem to differ in both versions, as well as the clouds in the sky in general.

Outside of that, in other videos it seems that grass pop in is a bigger problem in the Switch version than in the Wii U version and that the frame rate is inconsistent in both.

There being four main objectives tied to dungeons doesn't mean those are the only full-fledged dungeons in the game.

I think it's best not to expect more fully fledged dungeons than 4 tied to the Colossi and Hyrule Castle itself. 100 miniature dungeons with minor side objectives is good. The Overworld already looks by far the best in the series. There's no reason to expect more content than that.

Probably been mentioned already, but I noticed on the Treehouse stream there's an affection mechanic for the dogs in the world.

I think this probably tells us that you can have dog companions -- much like how you can have Wolf Link as a companion. The moment we saw a dog in a previous trailer I suspected this would be the case since Wolf Link seems like a MASSIVE feature to be locked behind amiibo. In reality it's just a special version of the dog companion feature which already exists in the game.

Like you said it's not a good comparison, but i'm not seeing what you're saying. Switch looks better in every comparison, and it's not true that the door doesn't cast light. It's a slightly different moment, you can see that lighting behind Link looks different. Draw distance is massively improved in the last shot, and frame rate was better on Switch compared to Wii U in any footage i've seen. It had really few frame drops, despite running at a higher res with better AA, shadows, textures and draw distance.

This comparison video shows the Switch version looks better.

As for pop-in, even Dragon Quest 11 on the PS4 has popins. That's an unfortunate reality of open world games.
