If Trump is truly an egomaniac with fascist tendencies, then it kinda makes sense that the temptation to actually expand government influence will get to him more and more as problems go across his desk.

Don't see any of that getting past Congress though.

I don't trust Trump in implementing such a thing, nor t he GOP being okay with it, but at least I can show this to some Trump supporters I know to piss them off because their idiotking is saying something they strictly oppose.

Well it'll be attached to a white guy's name this time, I think that' the important part.

It was when it was Romneycare.

Affordable Care Act is what it was eventually called and GOP was on board with it. It is their design, afterall.

Demonize it as Obamacare and suddenly they shit their pantaloons.

I have zero faith in anything good happening. Even if he has some actual good ideas the shitstains in congress won't allow it.

He needs to be careful about these drug prices. Depending on how far he wants to go, he risks taking the incentive for pharmaceutical companies spending money for r&d to innovate. There should be price controls on drugs that have been around a long while, like Daraprim and Eli-pen.

So he wants ACA?

ACA forces people to buy healthcare or face a penalty. He wants to make healthcare more affordable (which, ironically, the ACA makes *less* affordable despite its name) so that everyone will be able to afford it without being strongarmed into it.

If he can somehow accomplish it (which I highly doubt), get prices down and whatnot, then I'm for it. But yeah, I really don't expect a damn thing.

This man just blurts out words. Every policy is just random shit depending on whatever topic the interviewer leads in with. Whats going to end up happening is that other countries are going to start testing him, nay they are going to outright roll over him and he wont do anything. Countries like China and Russia have never been in such a strong position as now to take over as dominant leaders in all aspects of policy throughout the world.

Hilarious how he wants everyone covered but is against single payer. Yeah, it doesn't work like that. At all. And do you really think the pharmaceutical companies will listen to you? Hell, they're the ones lining the pockets of the people in charge of Congress. You're going to kill the ACA and replace it with a worse system than what we had before the ACA. Fuck you Trump. It's going to be a dark time for the next 4 years.

It sounds good until you remember Donald Trump has a different threshold for what constitutes a person, and thus who is grouped together as part of "everyone".

Look up how health insurance actually works. Unless he goes single-payer there is no alternative. If he did try and go that route, congress would never allow it.

Won't they just change their position and say it's a great idea now?

the mandate is what made it more affordable to more people. Stop drinking the koolaid.

Trump and the GOP care more about their relationships with the pharma and insurance fat cats and lobbyists than they do about the health of the american people. They don't give a fuck about poor sick people. Their goal is to dismantle Obamacare, get the short term bump from people who think they accomplished something, and never replace it with anything, and hope the idiots just eventually forget and are distracted by something else.

The ironic thing about trump is that he really isn't a conservative.

Democrats could get the infrastructure package they have wanted for years simply because it will have Trump's name on it. Trump wants a more activist government something that democrats in congress never had the balls to do in 2008. They bent over backwards to the 2 main republicans and Ben Nelson.

Problem is the people surrounding Trump and his views are fucking nuts but he wants to be a FDR type president whos willing to flood the supreme court to get his things through.

He's the Fox News President. Its every view from an email a family member has sent you with no solutions to fix anything.

Guys I want affordable health insurance for everyone with a pre-existing condition allowance without mandating that everyone is covered, as well as a pony, a genie and world peace

Come on, you know he's not going to do that. Health insurance for everyone means buying insurance across state lines, which will DEFINITELY result in lower prices for everyone and not just less regulations because all the companies move to whatever state has the least.

“It’s not going to be their plan,” he said of people covered under the current law. “It’ll be another plan. But they’ll be beautifully covered. I don’t want single-payer. What I do want is to be able to take care of people,” he said Saturday.

He doesn't have a plan. He's saying absolutely nothing at all.

Oh great....I'll just wait patiently to hear this plan.

I bet it will be those health saving accounts bullshit

Yep.

Paul Ryan said tax credits, lol

And yep.

Both are shit for regular people. "Hey everyone, I put $5,100 in my HSA this year (10% of the median US HOUSEHOLD income), and I'm getting a $5,000 tax credit in April! That only leaves $60,000 to pay for that $70,000 bypass that I had earlier this year!!!"

ugh.

Ok.
And how do you suppose that's done?

kind of hard to trust a single word he says considering he has done literally nothing but prove that he cannot be trusted in any way, shape, or form

Lowering prices. The devil will be in the details, and like the ACA, there'll clearly be parts people hate. Part of lowering prices is putting pressure on the consumer to bargain shop for non-emergency services, the rest will involve the government using its bargaining power on things it purchases (Medicare already has tight caps on what providers can charge, for instance, but this also causes some providers to simply drop out of the program).

If the Republicans had been willing to work with Obama all of this stuff could have been in the ACA. If it takes putting a Republican stamp on the plan for them to actually add these features that should have been there all along, then I guess that's one positive of a Trump presidency.

But somebody's going to take a hit, the money has to come from somewhere. And no, it's not as simple as "let the poor folk die." That's a good chunk of Trump's voter base in some key states.

Let's see what has in his sleeves.

piss

You are right because poor Republicans would never stubbornly vote against their own self interests...

How exactly do you magically lower prices? And why are you so trusting of Republicans to not make poor people take the hit when they have spent the last half century fucking over poor people?

Naw dude the 16-20 million people who were previously uninsured were just forced into it because of the mandate they can't afford. It has nothing to do with the fact that they could now afford it or that rules protecting them from being shut out due to having previous conditions or anything.

Or something.

I dunno what the out of touch excuse is for how ACA is both more expensive and yet 5% more of our population is now ensured.
