Come confess your gaming sins, child.

I used to think Zelda sucked for a long time. It always seemed uninteresting to me and never understood the praise. In middle school I played Wind Waker and got far into it. (Beat the boss after the Tower of the Gods), but the whole time I just found the gameplay uninteresting and kinda boring. Over the years I'd see more and more gameplay of other Zelda games, see people freak out, and just wonder why lol. It legit kinda bothered me until like 8th or so grade where I really came to grasp that people enjoy different things, and things that I freak out about would have people looking at me in the same way I look at them when they freak out about Zelda.

I then played Twilight Princess in 11th grade and also found it boring. That was maybe 3 or 4 years ago. Now I'm playing WW HD again because I had a hunch I'd enjoy it more now than I did before, and I do. I knew my tastes have changed a bit, and when I look back on it, a big reason I found WW mediocre before is because games that I was used to playing around that age had a lot of RPG like progression where it came to stats, skills, and that kind of stuff. (Ratchet & Clank, Phantasy Star Universe, Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy). So it was always off-putting to me that WW didn't have any of that.

I still think the combat is uninteresting most of the time, but I appreciate the other elements more than I did when I played it in 6th grade. I'm not crazy about it but I think it's a good game and worth playing.

The new Zelda game is the first one to really interest me.

I bought Red Dead Redemption 4 or 5 years ago. It's still in it's original wrapping today.

I liked Uncharted 3

The Megaman series terrible

Don't understand the appeal of the Zelda franchise. They're kind of fun but nothing incredible.

Edit: Oh, a big one. I've started and gotten through about half of Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas and Skyrim but have never actually 'finished' one of them. Finish meaning beaten the final storyline mission.
All ok except for RDR. What's wrong with you?! Play that thing man!

  • The Witcher 3 is highly overrated. The game is decent but the writing isn't as amazing as people make it out to be and the game only has about two memorable side quests (the
    Vampire
    and
    Giant
ones which was disappointing considering the way people hype the game up.
  • FFVII is an average-tier FF and Cloud Strife is a terrible protagonist.

I had a N64 but never played Ocarina of Time.

I thought The Witcher 3 was the most overrated game I've ever played.

I just beat BioShock on easy because I've grown tired of bullet-sponge enemies in FPS games.

  • I think JRPGs are trash
  • I think most GOTY games are bad (witcher 3, dragon age I, TLOU to name a few)
  • I think ND is highly overrated
  • I purchased the Dark Angel Video game, worst game I've ever purchased. still ashamed of it
  • I've spent real money in F2P games and purchased Microtransactions at times

I bought the Metroid Prime Trilogy 3 times (2 Wii, 1 Wii u). Haven't even played more than hour of Prime 1 everytime I played them.
Even had it for the GC.
In fact I haven't played nor finished any other Metroid game.......

- I used the soul glitch to platinum Bloodborne
- I sometimes play games on easy
- I always buy handhelds and hardly use them
- I never play online
- While never being able to finish my PS4 backlog and having several games pre-ordered, I im continuously buying new games

These days I'm now open to playing games on easy and just the other week I started playing Persona 4 Golden on very easy. However three hours in and I wish I'd been a bit braver.

  • GTAV is bad from gameplay to writing
  • MGS series have bad story because all of the retcons, logic leaps and narratives left open. MGSV is just culmination of it all, even with missing Chapter it would have been kinda middle finger to players
  • Bethesda can't create engaging narratives, but they create good sandboxes to explore. Walking sims with loot.
  • Naughty Dog is overrated studio

Half-Life's opening was revolutionary in 1998, but yeah, I would never blame anyone for finding it boring after its time.

You still should have stuck with it, though, shit kicks off in a big way after that opening and never lets up.

I think some day I will give it a try. At least now I can put my perspective on when the game was released.

This is an old school sin that seems to no longer be a sin anymore.

I jump right into the multiplayer without even touching the single player.

For those that don't know there used to be to a long standing unwritten rule back in the 90's early 2000's that you played campaign first then played multiplayer. But that's not me. I bought this game for the MP. The SP is only there for when the internet goes out.

I go around saying I've beaten Final Fantasy 1,2,3,4,6,7,10,12,and 13.

The truth is I've only gotten to the final bosses of FF 1,2, and 3. I tried so hard but it was too frustrating, especially 3's Crystal Tower.

I'm still counting them though.

- I played The Witcher for 22 hours then watched a walkthrough of the rest.

- The only way I've beaten Flamelurker is getting him stuck in one of the pillars around the boss area.

- At the end of my Battlefield 2 days, I basically only went after our team's commander with C4 or TK'ed with jets. I'm so sorry
(I'm not)
to all of you who wanted a serious match, but shit was just too fun to let go.

I've never understood what it was about Zelda that gripped everyone so tightly. Jumping in with a Switch and BotW on day 1 to try and find out.

I've never finished a Zelda game, and despite enjoying and appreciating the series, I had never finished a mainline Final Fantasy game until XV.

I tried and quit XCOM 2 multiple times, cause I'm too bad.
I really, really like Witcher 3 and love to hail it as one of the best RPG's ever, and I LOATHE SO many aspects of Skyrim.. but I have more fun playing Skyrim than W3.

[*]I hate Mass Effect. Like, tried it, and turned it off in 5 minutes. Terrible game.

The first Mass Effect game I played was ME3 on Wii U. There was some kind of a "recap comic video" to show the story prior to this game. It was very boring. Soon after the video I couldn't remember any of it. Then the game started and it was awful.

Later I tried Mass Effect 1 on Steam. I thought maybe the first game is better. It wasn't. I played it for about an hour. I probably will never play it or any other Mass Effect games again.

That's not really confessing anything though, I'm sure we all know that by now. Anyway, for me:

1. I've never played a Zelda game
2. I've never played a Metal Gear game
3. I've never played a Resident Evil game
4. The only FF I've played was X and I never finished it
5. I found the Half Life games boring
6. I don't like the weeb JRPGs

I don't necessarily consider the latter half of those "sins" though.

very fitting gif choice.

in fact, this should be 99% of the peeps in this thread... I said damn

I thought The Last of Us was sappy and too violent. I knew his daughter(joke bot 5k I think that was her name) was gonna die as soon as she started sprouting off jokes non stop.

I didn't like OOT

I've never played a 3D or RPG Mario game

I don't care about 60 FPS (unless I'm playing that game's MP competitively)
Stable framerates matter more. Yes, higher framerates look better and can play better but if it's a single player experience it's a true nonessential for me.

  • I never liked Mega Man. Not one bit (heh!)
  • I've never beaten a Metroid game. Started a few, hated them all.
  • I hate Mass Effect. Like, tried it, and turned it off in 5 minutes. Terrible game.
  • I've never particularly enjoyed Halo, though Reach was ok. Crucify me now.
  • The only Zelda I've touched is a LttP, and I never finished it. Currently trying to play WWHD, but not feeling particularly compelled to move our green-clad hero through the journey that awaits.
  • I haven't beaten a Mario game outside of SMB3 & SMW.
  • The only MGS game I've played is Ground Zeroes, and I dropped that one about 1/4 of the way through.
  • I've never played any of Valve's games other than TF2, and I abhorred how that game controlled and played.
  • I dislike just about any RPG I've ever tried outside of Chrono Trigger. Especially FF games. Gave them a shot, but can't stand them.
  • As soon as puzzle games (Limbo, The Swapper, etc.) start getting difficult, I bail out.

What DO you like?

I can't grasp fighting games for the life of me. There's so many moves and inputs to learn it's super overwhelming.

I'm decent to good at nearly every other genre.

Edit: Here's another... the first Final Fantasy I managed to finish was 12.

The first sentence is reasonable, but I have no idea what you're on about with the second.

Oh I've got another one:

I haven't played RDR. I started playing it after MGSV and the framerate looked like such trash in comparison that it actually hurt my eyes. Couldn't do it.

I never owned a nintendo console until the ds/wii (i thought i didnt like nintendo until then too chilidish, my younger sister had a NES for example/ MK on snes didnt have blood so i saw then as childish oops haha, course i had played them all since the nes but felt to childish to actually own a Nintendo console, i do now and havent looked back)

I own lots and lots of games but hardly play them (again probably due to feeling slightly awakward when hearing people saying games are for kids co workers etc, like i shouldn't give a fuck and i kinda don't, but sometimes something at back of my mind always blocks me, but recently i been enjoying myself more since the Start of 2017, fuck feeling guilt for playing games)

Im not much of a zelda fan and i only own a link between worlds, cos it reminds me of the time i played my sisters Zelda on the NES and the the Snes Zelda 3?

Hitman is my Current favourite game (finding it hard to go back to other games currently though i do) and use it as a stress reliever after crappy week at work, now the weekend i destress by offing people in this game, feels so good, its wrong but so right and fun, who am i going to kill next? I'm glad we can use games to destress and do stuff we wouldnt in real life.

Splatoon is great, i just love the entire look of the whole game, it shouldn't appeal to me but it does, i never have nostalgia for the 90's stuff, the whole bright nickleodeon, slime, mtv bright popping colours etc never appealed to me at the time, but yet there is this game and it does make me feel good

I'm having the realization that maybe in my late teens - late twenties i felt guilt, and maybe became shaped by society and started to become boring towards Life, maybe i grew up to fast and now, now i'm starting to not give a fuck and have fun, maybe i'm a bit too much of a manchild though now, maybe i'm not, but i aim to make up for lost years, whatever though, balls to people.

I stayed up all night playing Left 4 Dead on Survival Mode. I'd found a little nook that kept me invisible from the AI and I just hid there all night as the timer/points went up. The only problem was that it kicked you if you went idle... So I watched the entire LotR trilogy while simultaneously crouching over and over again.

Yup.

Guys, this isn't the controversial thread.

Reminder:
  • Post games you wish you'd enjoyed but couldn't for one reason or another,
  • post regrets you have about selling consoles, rare games, etc.,
  • post about games you missed out on,
etc.

See, that's a shameful sin lol.

I've never met a Blizzard game I've truly loved. I've bought and played many of them, but they just don't do a damn thing for me, even though there are so many qualities that should appeal to me. But I hope that one day that changes.

I lent my copy of Twilight Princess (GCN) to somebody and never got it back. This stings because the resale value would have been good.

I think Halo, as a series, is mediocre at best.

I still haven't finished Chrono Trigger or FF6.

I don't really like multiplayer in games. Seeing games without campaigns win GOTY kinda bugs me.

Revengence manages to be extremely repetitive despite being like 6 hours long. Really don't get the hype.

Platinum as whole are vastly overrated. I roll my eyes when I see the rampant fanboyism around them.

Desite knowing I will never finish my backlog, I continue to buy games just because they're on sale and I tell myself I'll get around to them some day.

Tales from the Borderlands was only okay.

Twilight Princess and Majora's Mask are the worst Zeldas.

I find people who obsess over stats and builds in Souls games obnoxious.

Chie is the WOAT, friend material only.
fite me irl

I have never completed nor played more than an hour of a legend of Zelda game and the idea of them and most fantasy games(Skyrim and the Witcher come to mind) bore me to fucking tears.

Most open world games turn me off entirely.

I've never completed a Jack and Daxter game but I got halfway through 3 when I was kid. I tried playing it again a year ago and it controlled like garbage so I gave up
