Although LA Noire is a deeply flawed game I still appreciate and enjoy what they tried to create. I would play a good remaster in heart beat, warts and all.

Actually it makes sense.

It's the Wii all over again.

The Devs at Rockstar probably despise Nintendo hardware like they always have, and thus, since management is telling them "put something out on it to test the water, it has some buzz", they'll go with L.A. Noire. When it predictably bombs, they'll say "see? We can't sell on that crappy Nintendo hardware" and then they can go back to not supporting it.

.

Out of all of the possible games Rockstar could remaster they'd choose LA Noire?

How many of those 5 million were at full price? I may be misremembering but it seems that game was stuffed in bargain bins for a while.

It was the best selling new IP of that year in the US. It outsold Arkham City and Saints Row The Third in the UK.

I highly doubt that most of the sales were from bargain bins.

Why tho? It's not like the game would heavily benefit from a portable mode

well, there's no real benefit for having engrossing 60hr jrpgs on a portable system either, seeing as that genre lends itself better to a home console sit-down session, yet here we are with 10 years of jrpgs being released primarily on handhelds.

the market will decide what works, not a bunch of internet msg board gamers. :)

I would think that LA Noire would be easier to port over than RDR or Max Payne 3 since it's not running on RAGE, which seems to be something of a fiddly engine that requires some fairly substantial tinkering to get it to work on other platforms. LA Noire would be much smoother and cheaper to give another go on in comparison.

Hasn't it been said that RDR's code in particular is a huge mess? I can't imagine that Rockstar wouldn't port it over to other systems if it was for any other reason.

Well the Wii got Manuhnt 2, Bully and their Table Tennis game so there's a precedent of them releasing their middleware sorts of games on Nintendo platforms.

I never got around to this so definitely would hit it.

Glad to see this game wasn't just forgotten. Kick on that black and white mode and let it pour over you. A real gem.

Sounds like a stupid idea so it is probably true.

Why release something that'll actually make people excited and sell?

"LOL GOOD ONE."

Almost kinda makes sense to launch this game to test the waters. Besides, maybe there's something about it that makes it easier to port.

The game itself is really interesting, though. Flawed but very unique.

Yea I think anybody wanting RDR remaster or port will be waiting forever. Especially since it hasnt made it to PC yet.

But still, LA Noire? I am legit shocked it sold as much as it did. I see some ppl liked it tho and some are interested in playing it for the first time...

I say why not? Might shock everyone and sell a ton on the Switch.

Wonder why they remaster the game right now. Probably it was easy to earn some money. But just doubt it will sell well. Doubt people are so much interested to play it with slightly better graphics.

Kinda strange choice. But makes sense that they port it over to Switch as well, if they were already remastering it for One/PS4.

Eh I see where you're going but this is never really a valid argument well at least not one with a concrete conclusion because all games go on sale and noone really tracks that. If it's widely available like a month after release for 20 then maybe we could figure something

Well, if this is true, I would assume that PS4 and Xbox ste getting ports too. It wouldnt make sense to port it just to the Switch.

IIRC a lot of it was running on RAGE when Bondi decided to try and make it a little "open world" with L.A when that originally wasn't on the cards at all and so Rockstar stepped in to handle those duties.

EA uses this tactic to great success with Nintendo lately.

Generally I would agree but remember Nintendo is in a spot where they are pushing the Switch as a console and a handheld, it's sort of unprecedented. For that reason I could see why they might want to push more "console" style experiences that people might not normally associate with, or want to play, on a traditional handheld.

I remember when this was first mentioned in one of the Switch threads, it was speculated that it was getting remastered for PS4 and XB1 along with Switch. Leads me to think that a sequel is in the works if so.

A remaster of a mediocre last gen game as a current gen console exclusive. This is comically pointless.

Sigh....what's with people not reading the OP? There is no rumour about it being exclusive. We have a rumour saying it's coming to Switch and another saying it's coming to PS4 and XBONE as well.

Knowledge is power, guard it well
This is a worse compensatory port than Mass Effect 3. I mean, I don't even get why they'd waste the effort of putting it on PS4 and X1.

Why LA Noire? I liked the game but wouldnt a remaster of Red Dead Redemption make a lot more sense?

A remaster for Redemption is apparently a no go for any platform as the code is apparently a complete mess. It sounds like they'd basically have to do a ground up remake in order for it to ever see a re-release. And something like that just isn't going to be worth Rockstar's time.

Dudes read the OP, it's not just being made for Switch as a Bail Out Card for Rockstar if it doesn't sell. If the rumors are true it's being remastered for ALL current gen consoles, as in, PS4 and Xbox One as well. If anything this sounds like Rockstar wants to make a sequel and they're doing a remaster to gauge interest in the IP.

Either that or they were forced to do a toe-dip game for Switch and to offset costs they're also porting it to two additional systems. So they can get even less return when it doesn't sell across three systems instead of just one since it's apparently such a tragedy of a game. (I have it for PS3 but it's in the unclimbable mountain that is my backlog)

I'm pretty sure I've seen you make similar claims in other Switch/Nintendo threads. My question: why are you continually posting in Nintendo threads, telling Nintendo fans they have a persecution complex?

And then in the non-Nintendo related threads:

Firstly, I think someone who consistently enters Nintendo-related threads and accuses Nintendo fans of having persecution complexes should have a look at themselves and have a good think about who actually has the complex.

Secondly, I think you are in dire need of one of these:

Seems like it's the perfect opportunity to have an RDR remaster with RDR2 coming up. LA Noire is right out of left field.

Skyrim. LA Noire.

The Switch is bringing in the latest and greatest from third parties. Every gamer must be foaming at the mouth to play these exclusives.

I think this was hinted (by Vern?) also around here.

Anyhow a L.A. Noire remaster is such a poor idea. Who asked for this? A GTA V port would be 1000 times better.

Yes this is the game I heard about a few months ago. Interesting to see it starting to pop up specifically in the rumor mill. Also I heard some pretty cool things about the PS4/bone versions.

I've never played the original, interested to see what they add for both versions.

Is this game REALLY that bad? I've always loved old film noir detective stuff and I have it in my backlog but I've never gotten around to playing it. What exactly is so horrible about it?

If we're talking about R* remasters no one asked for, Manhunt would make for more interesting news

Imagine the circus if they ported the Wii version since Switch also has motion controls.

This is so dumb it has to be true.

LA Noire isn't a bad game. Scratch that, it is a bad game, but if you treat it like a visual novel and don't mess with any gameplay mechanics outside of the conversations it's pretty entertaining.

If this turns out to be true, it could be Rockstar testing the waters for the viability of a sequel.

I'm just trying to imagine what a remaster would entail. The game was fairly barebones, so it would need quite a bit of padding to make it a worthwhile playthrough for me.
