Ghost Recon Wildlands Previews and Beta info

I'm not sure why none of the "default" Ghosts used in the marketing is female. Even The Division had a female agent in the marketing materials and on the front cover. Instead, to show off the customization there's a man with a ponytail who looks just awful.

It actually raised some consternation because it suggested there would be no female ghosts at all. For some reason the other recent GR game, Future Soldier, saw fit to make the team all male, even though female operators have been with the Ghosts since the beginning.

Only thing is that faces aren't fully customizable. Presumably a sacrifice that had to be made for the cutscenes.
Well the faces look good compared to The Division.

I would like a proper body building editor too but this is fine.
How is that possible? Because I'd really like that!

"Wildlands is designed to give the most limitless and open experience technology will allow. Practically, this means that there's seamless drop in/out co-op for the entirety of the game, with zero enforced boundaries. If you wanted to, you could have 4 human players completing missions in 4 separate provinces simultaneously."

It is an odd omission in the early marketing materials. More and more of the trailers have been showing off playable women though.

Yeah this is looking more and more like the co-op MGSV I wanted.

Always love character and gun customization options, and it doesn't look like theres any microtransactions in the way of these, which is cool

Hope I can get in that beta

All I can say is despite a lot of pessimism by some. I am totally stoked for this. These videos are exactly what I needed to show that the game has been polished up since their E3 showings.

Tactical, free roam, approach how you want, gameplay with customization and friends?
Count me in! I just don't understand how some people are still asking why anyone would be interested in this.

I'll be on PSN. James_b0ndjr. Add me if anyone wants to squad up and sneak into camps together on the hardest difficulty.

Do you know if you can disable the go to FPS mode while shoting?

I dont like that.

Without access to the menu, most games does

-Normal TPS aim but zoom takes you to iron sight/scope

-Aim down sight first person on/off

-Click to TPS / hold to FPS (or the other way around)

In my experience.

I've been underwhelmed by the graphics of what I've seen for everything close up, while the big open views look incredible. But it might be for the better if more focus went to nailing the gameplay. The draw distance and size of the world is impressive and should make some impressive vistas to look at.

Signed up for the beta. Pretty excited to try it.

Can't wait to try out the beta. I assume they will also give us friend codes to disperse? Should be a fun code begging thread.

I can't believe how fucking huge this map is.

I've watched multiple gameplay videos, I have to say the game looks and feels more arcade-y than I expected.

And then you wear full body armor and no one sees this :D

Division wasn't too bad in this respect. The meaningful pieces (armor or weapons) did not cover up the cosmetic pieces. So you could be personalized while also carrying the top stats.

Very curious in how it handles long distance sniping. Draw distance would seem to support it but I can't get a clear look at how it functions.

If you had any expectations that Ghost Recon Wildlands would play anything like its predecessors in the tactical shooter series, it's probably best to put them to one side. This is a very different take on the formula.

Alright, any optimism is gone again.

Snipers have bullet drop and can aim from quite a far distance away from an enemy camp.

It seems if you want even a semblance of actual Ghost Recon you have to play on the hardest difficulty with friends and ban use of the drone. Lol.

So you don't have to ADS?? That's awesome, I really prefer staying in third person unless I'm aiming down a scope or something.

Yeah, I feel like PVP didn't really become its bread and butter until GRAW.

I wonder of some younger people only played GRAW which came a full 5 years later. So they think that's GR.

Man did I groan at the start of this UbiBlog video about the game.

"We start of with one of the things I've been really looking forward to getting my hands on, which is character customization."

Character customization? In a tactical military shooter? That was your first agenda?

Not if the A.I is competent, if the gunplay feels good, if the gadgets are fun and useful, if sneaking is a viable and rewarding option or if its just as good or even quicker to go stupidly-guns-blazing into missions and just not care about being smart.

Nono, top priority was to see if the pre-fab tattoo options are any good.

I was excited for this game since the initial preview..but man.....

the game looks like such a slog. It does not seem that interesting at all....not for me at all right now but maybe the beta will change that.

I wonder about that too. I've been playing GR since the 1st one that came out in 2001 and it's mainly a squad focus game.

Pretty sure he was talking about in the context of GR:W specifically because it's something the devs have talked about quite a bit.

This game honestly has me excited. I've been a fan since Ghost Recon 2, but this looks like the co-op game I've always wanted. I don't want to get too caught up in the hype of a Ubisoft game, but I'm very interested.

I don't get the negativity towards the customization here.
