Cool. I enjoyed that game for the most part.Literally Mass Effect: Inquisition.

Nope, its a terrible thing. Inquisition was a generic pile of hot garbage
I miss your Tali too.
It's looking more and more likely there are going to be no Quarians in MEA.
I want my Quarian squadmate.
Talk about hyperbole. DAI had issues, but was still an enjoyable game overall in spite of them.
It mainly suffered from poor encounter design and overall spongy enemies, poorly developed antagonist and rushed plot resolution and underwhelming side quests that were a bit too MMO fetch questy.
But it was still a massively beautiful game world that was fun to explore, rich with lore and a large number of interesting characters, factions and companions to interact with throughout the adventure.
Two of those three main issues are pretty easy to fix as long as they try. They've at least been pretty transparent about player dissatisfaction with the side quests in DAI and ME's combat is far more straightforward and digestible than the tactical RTwP gameplay of DA that they struggle to bring to the mainstream. Whether or not we'll have a compelling main story and antagonist is the real question.
This is pretty lame. I've been down on the game ever since I heard the ridiculous premise and I gotta say, these story trailers aren't doing anything to change my outlook. The writing is atrocious.
The generic dialogue and bland characters remind me so much of Tomb Raider. It has the stink of "AAA+ corporatized game writing" all over it, with no soul to make up for it. And it still makes no sense to me how the Andromeda Initiative is supposed to work when they already spent 600 years to get over there. Won't it take an additional 600+ years to get the rest of the humans there once they find a good place for their new society?
It's a 1,200+ year long mission??
Literally Mass Effect: Inquisition.
Also, they're seeding another galaxy.
Seriously, when was the last time a BioWare game had good quest structure? People bitched about shitty sidequests in DA:I? People have been criticizing their lazy content design since Mass Effect 1, for fuck's sake. I love that game, but good god, there were literally four bunker designs on planets that may as well have been randomly generated.
Just because the mistakes are easy to fix doesn't mean they'll be fixed.
I think the Quarians had such great backstory and design, it will be a shame if they are not in this game.
Tali was my favourite since 2, she was the cutest being ever.
Is it just me or does Scott Ryder look and sound almost exactly like Nathan Drake?
When you think about it, Quarians would have been the most obvious choice for colonising a new galaxy.
And it's the only major race from the trilogy missing.
I ain't romancing Jon & Kate Plus 8, fuck that.

We can't customize the faces like in past Mass Effects?
Everything you said up there adds up to hot garbage. So the world is pretty, big deal. I have never been so bored playing a DA game, IMO it was not a good game and definitely not worthy of the praise it was getting when it first came outTalk about hyperbole. Whether or not we'll have a compelling main story and antagonist is the real question. But it's not exactly something many games are able to get right. The much lauded Witcher 3 had a pretty shit main plot and antagonist, people just forget that because it did have phenomenal side quests and Ciri was a great character.
So why are people complaining about the faces then?Yes you can
So why are people complaining about the faces then?
Agreed. Not that it was ever stellar in ME, however the voice acting has taken a huge dive too imo. Takes me right out of it.
So why are people complaining about the faces then?
We can't customize the faces like in past Mass Effects? I don't really see a problem with the faces.
ME1 was dramatically affected by the limited development time. They had to cut a ton of shit last minute. An entire main mission planet was cut. Despite that the game had some really memorable and interesting side quests, despite the rather barren copy paste locations.
ME2's N7 side mission were generally all of good quality and featured unique locations. The varied a great deal in style and substance offering up a solid array of experiences. It was a massive improvement over ME1, despite the loss of explorable planets
ME3 did take a step back in this regard, with a lot more fetch quests via system scanning and such than ME2 style N7 missions, but that was at the expense of a lot of meatier story missions than the past two games.
DAO and DA2 both had a huge range of unique side quests along with the normal fetch quests as well. Though not many used unique locations for them, especially DA2.
So why are people complaining about the faces then?

DA 2 had abysmal copy-paste locations. Like maybe worse than ME1-type stuff.
I guess my frustration, which you've outlined here, is that they always seem to hit on one or two aspects of quality design per game, but just have never been able to fire on all cylinders and really bring it all together in one game yet.
We already know what Bioware dialogue is like. They've been establishing it for what, 10+ years now. If you somehow think you're not going to like it now, then you've never liked it.
Also, they're seeding another galaxy. They're not bringing the rest of humanity over. It's a severed tie.
Do you remember when EA were like "female Ryder will be the default in all our promo material". What a bunch of horse shit that was
I don't think the dialogue from Mass Effect 1 and 2 is anywhere near this bad except for a few select spots. It was Mass Effect 3 where I first started to hear such an overwhelming amount of generic BS. "It's not about strategy or tactics, it's about survival" will always stand out in my mind as being particularly offensive.
It seems like the change in writing staff is probably to blame, which doesn't bode well for this story.
As for them going out to seed a new human society with just the individuals on the ship, isn't 20,000 way too small of a number? I have to think that's not enough diversity for them to not be missing huge chunks of the species.

Literally Mass Effect: Inquisition.
Sucks you didn't enjoy it. Lots of other people did. Tastes, they're crazy.
I can't stand playing Souls games at all in just about every regard that people praise them for, doesn't make them shit in my mind just something I obviously don't enjoy.
I can't argue with that feeling at all. It sums up BioWare very well unfortunately. I've still been able to enjoy each of their games far more than I've been disappointed by their shortcomings thankfully. Despite it all, no one makes games in the way they do.
Disappointing, but exactly what I expected it to be.
And it looks like another stop the bad guy, assemble an army plot. If there is one thing BioWare should have taken from Dragon Age II, it's that a low-stakes story can be a lot better than drowning in epics. Something akin to Deep Space Nine, in which the game could focus itself in the various cultures, politics, and the economics of the various civilizations and races.
That's where we diverge, heh. I think Obsidian and (especially) CD Projeckt have been beating BioWare at their own game for around a decade. Though I get Obsidian is definitely an acquired taste.
(Honestly, every person who loves Mass Effect 1 needs to give Alpha Protocol a shot.)
Don't be so sure....Disappointing, but exactly what I expected it to be.
