I'm playing Nintendo Switch tomorrow at PAX, what unanswered questions do you have?

I was thinking weight. How heavy is it and does it feel sturdy but also sophisticated?
The demo units are bolted down but even with that, they feel light.

Units feel sturdy, especially the screen, I gave a few harder than normal taps as I would be comfortable in my phone but not a Wii U pad.

The screen is amazing, pretty sure that's gorilla glass coated or something similar.

How the grip feels vs the pro controller.
Not sure what you mean by the grip, but the Switch Pro Co felt great, was shocked. It's feels more like an Xbox pad in quality than say, the plastic toy like feel to the Wii U on. It's got some weight to it and just snugly fits.

It reminded me of the small OG Xbox pad.

Second favourite pad now, first being XB1 elite.

Are the arrow buttons close enough so you can hit diagonals easily with a thumb?

Is it comfortable to hold in portable mode?

Much appreciated.

Well, disappointing to hear Zelda looks unanimously ugly on the big screen so far.
I'm going to assume it's partially due to the massive screens and standing less than a meter from them. The screens were huge, at least 55.

Looked lovely on the tablet screen though and from a distance too, looked better.

I assume it's an old but stable build of the game as opposed to the launch version.

Easily, if you're talking the ol' hold one to run and bottom of thumb to jump. That's fine.

I was surprised how comfortable the right Joycon was, despite the nearly center positioned analog stick.

Tried it today and Splatoon 2 undocked looked and played amazing. The screen looks great and the neon definitely looks better than the grey. Arms was super fun also.

He's the first person I heard say that. Don't let one single impression change your whole opinion.

I didn't play it personally, but watched someone else for about 20 minutes. It looked alright. The frame rate though... hopefully this is an early build or something. Really bad. Like really bad.

Edit: OK, didn't know about standing a foot away from a gigantic screen, lol

Yeah it's a pretty bad setup they have for games like BotW, apparently the calibrations practically non-existent so the sharpness, contrast and colour are all jacked up as well.

Poorly calibrated TV's at events like these are the norm I believe. Overly sharpened etc
I worked game events for years, this is sometimes an issue, I often started my day checking 50+ screens but at a busy event this can be overlooked.

Again, it was ugly but I should have mentioned that I was about a meter away from a 55" screen.

The frame rate was bad, so bad I just figured it was an old build. Only when hitting large clumps of grass, combat otherwise was silky smooth and a real joy to partake in.

I believe you played the E3 demo on Switch. The final built runs much smoother and (almost?) always stays at 30 FPS.

I assume so, it was the 20 minute demo. Terrible idea to let so many people play a ropey demo as a first impression of the Switch though!

#1) One you can answer now: how large are your hands? :) And the related Switch question for tomorrow: how comfortable is the Joy Con grip in your hands? Can you easily reach everything and not feel cramped? Does the Grip fill your palms or do you have to "claw grip" it because it's so small?

#2) Also how large are the face buttons on the Joy Cons compared to, say, the Wii Remote 1 and 2 buttons? And are they clicky or mushy when pressed?

#3) Try to feel if the fan is running in portable mode or not. Feel for air coming out of the top vent. If unsure, please lick your finger and see if it feels "cold" when you hold it over that vent. If any airflow at all it will feel cold against a wet finger.

#4) If you play Zelda, see if the version is "12S" or "1.0" It will say on the bottom right corner of the start screen.

#5) Also if you play Zelda, if you find an area with bad framerate, please try to stay in that same spot and see if the framerate gets smooth again or if it stays choppy while in that spot. If it's the demo where you start in a cave, it will probably get choppy in the area where you get the axe from the stump right after talking to the old man. It's unlcear to us if that is a streaming issue or if it is just because that area has so much geometry on the screen (grass). If it gets smooth again then it was probably only a streaming issue.

If you can answer any of these you're a hero. If you can get to all of them you're MY hero! Lol. Thanks in advance for offering. :)

Not sure if that's already known but, can you see if the grip has a micro USB or USB-C connector on the top/bottom to charge the Joy-Con's? I know we need a special grip sold separately to charge them wirelessly but I'm curious if the grip that comes with the console has some kind of direct charge via USB in the same way we charge the PS4 controllers...

As indicated in the Nintendo Switch hardware thread there does not seem to be a charging option on the default grip. If there was I'm sure Nintendo would have put a bullet point on it.

The charging port is on the bottom of the system. Can we charge while the Switch is sitting with the kickstand out?

Assuming you played the first Splatoon, can you give impressions of how the placement of the right analog stick affects controlling Splatoon 2? I have a terrible amount of worry that my beautiful gyro+analog stick control scheme has been made slightly less beautiful with this change to where the right analog stick is placed on the Switch.

1-The right one felt small, and my hands are about average at 6.5-7 inches

2-Buttons are about 1 and 2 on wiimote size but feel nicer, clicky.

That's all I can answer from my time playing arms

Edit: Whoops double post

If a boy: is it possible for the skin of your penis to get caught between the Switch unit and the Joycon on either side when playing naked?

If you are playing with one joycon in each hand can use just one of them for gyro aiming(lets say your right, while you don't need to move your left) or do you have to use motion with both.

HD rumble. Does it function at all in Zelda, Arms, etc? If so, how does it feel?

When placing the unit in the dock is it likely you can scuff the screen?

Will there be eshop games at launch from then likes of nes snes n64 or even gc games ?

Cheers.

The temp they hired to stand at the booth will answer all your questions about stuff only engineers at NCL and NTD will know and PR would never let them tell anyone.

They won't (and can't) answer that.

That's an easy no, even without official comment.

How are achievements an easy no?

Try to see what the map limitations are like in Zelda or go to any cities or locations we haven't seen.

Any virtual console or online functionality information would be nice.

I want to know how the Joy Cons feels while you're holding them in each hand playing in a traditional style (Zelda: BOTW) for example. Compared to the cost of other consoles controllers, I feel like they are well worth the price (will need to get another one for my son when we play ARMS).

If there's any chance you can ask them about the 8 user accounts per system, if these accounts can be different regions like the PS4, say US, EU and Asian.

The grip is the controller shell that you put the Joycons in that makes it look like a dog.

Good to know about the pro controller though. I got one pre-ordered.
