You've seen price drops and "offers" for PS4 Pro going all the way down to $360. Sony has a good bit of wiggle room in case Scorpio hits the streets and starts selling gangbusters.

I doubt Sony will even let it launch with price parity given the performance difference, presuming they have a choice in the matter.

I wish there an alternate universe for each on these people like Timdog where their fanboy choice companies puts out the weakest hardware in comparison to their competition. Aka the 10k or SMD experience.

Pretty accurate.

I'am pretty excited about the Scorpio. Just thinking about what some exclusive software made for a 12GB 6tf + system would achieve whether its 1080p or 4k is very exciting.

I hope it does have a bit better cpu for better physics in games and maybe better Ai. Iam happy to pay $499 after all it is a premium console.

I currently have a Panasonic VT65 plasma tv, now this is amazing tv colours and blacks. Looking at a 50 or 55 for bedroom 4k tv, what would be close to my vt65?

To be fair, Sony hasn't touched the MSRP of the Pro. Lower prices are offered by the retailer.

I have a feeling we're going to see similar results between PS4 pro and Scorpio comparisons compared to PS4 and Xbox One comparisons, with games running at 4k.
40% performance advantage has definitely helped PS4, especially with exclusives, but I give developers a lot of credit for getting the Xbox One versions of games up to par with PS4 for the most part.

But I fully expect, PS4 Pro checkerboard games will look very, very similar to Scorpio games running at native 4k. And then you take into account that the vast majority of consumers will be making their comparison decisions based off of IGN comparisons videos from YouTube.

I don't think Scorpio isn't going to be a driver of gamers back to Xbox, even if that is the goal of the console or not. I have a feeling that all of this speculation is going to disappoint a lot of people. If you are already into 4k and a console gamer, you'll be happy to have your games looking pretty on a nice new TV. For everyone else, it's probably not going to blow your mind.

Agreed. The masses don't care exactly how powerful it is, they will only pay so much for a console regardless. $450 is the max they can release the console at and even then it might be tough to generate good sales numbers. $399 is really what they need to target, but I could see where that is not possible depending on the spec target they are shooting for.

If it's a premium console for enthusiasts, it's no problem. But if it's a next gen console, then it surely is.

Sony will play their cards close to their chest on price. Consumers might think PS4 pro and Scorpio are somewhat interchangeable if the price is close. Besides, slim is the budget console they'll be aggressive on price with. PS4 pro is their margin booster. If you're spending money on a 4k TV, then you'll probably fork over the money for a PS4 pro.

It seems fake, but why would you get confirmation of this from someone whose only qualification is being a rabid fanboy manchild on twitter?

EDIT: Yes, you, BeastFireTimdog
wow
, someone on NeoGAF just referred to you as a "rabid fanboy manchild". Please retweet this.

I concur the rabid fanboy manchild.

I think the Scorpio has a different advantage going into its release vs the pro.

PS4 sales are something like double the XB1, so there isn't as much of a market for the pro. Most people already have a ps4, mostly just enthusiasts will buy.

Where the Scorpio, if executed properly, has a chance to persuade a lot of PS4 owners to buy an Xbox Scorpio as a second console.

I strongly believe that MS should create a $500-650 console, and sell it for $350-400. They need to play the third party card hard, and having a console that plays them the best for 2-3 years (whenever ps5 releases) will help gain some market share back.

I realize they won't actually do this.

Only if they get credit from Sony. Margin on consoles for retailers is usually less than 5%, so retailers are not going to lose money to sell consoles outside of the holidays. Last time I looked I think the margin on PS4 was 3.5%, which is nothing and leaves no wiggle room for retailers unless they make bundles where they make up the margin. The PRO launched like it was a stealth launch and they did not advertise it at all. If anyone things MS is going to launch Scorpio without any fanfare or massive advertising they are delusional and that it one of the reasons its first 60-90 days of sales will blow Pro out of the water. After the holidays, who knows what will happen.

If you want to know how the masses will absorb the knowledge of "if" they should buy a Scorpio, think how joe sells TVs at bestbuy, walmart, target or whatever electronic store. Or basically anything of competition. Each product is given some type of bullet point for them to repeat. Scorpio native 4k* xbox one games can play on it and look 4.5 times better. Xbox 360 back compat also works too. Etc.

Example:
Look how many people here give 2 fucks about hdr10 vs dolby vision or if dts:x is better than dolby atmos. Some dont even know if their 4k is actually capable of receiving hdr10/dv. "What, we needed a sticker?"

We can apply that level of curiosity to people who like game consoles but dont want to bother and research it.

I screen shot the most pathetic thing ive ever seen in life and some how that equates to me caring ?

How many scorpios you got on twitter ?

😂😂😂😂
I do.

And? I can understand the dislike of MrX lies or the ways Crapgamer has expressed himself, but Tim? Dude is a genuinely nice guy that enjoys xbox. Just because he's become a social voice for xbox fans is not a good reason for the constant hate that gets thrown his way. Some of ya'll looking like straight up jealous ex girlfriends. Its...disturbing. Let's be fair. Your post is fucking embarrassing. "Most pathetic thing Ive seen in life" GET.OUT.MORE.

Except it's not just a 40% GPU advantage is it? Convinent how the massive memory and memory bandwidth advantage gets left out of so many posts that try and downplay the difference between Scorpio and Pro. Anyone expecting a generational leap is sure to be disappointed, but expecting nothing more than a resolution bump is short-sighted and ignoring details in order to fit a narrative. Assuming Scorpio is 12GB it will have a 4GB advantage over the Pro in games, possibly more if they include some DDR3 for the OS. That combined with the >100GB/s memory bandwidth advantage is going to mean a lot when it comes to system capabilities.

It's amazing how much the narrative has shifted since the beginning of the generation when a resolution difference was night and day and non-native resolutions looked like shit. Hell, in April Quantum Break was getting shit on for using reconstruction techniques instead of being native 1080p, and six months later checkerboard rendering was amazing and barely distinguishable from native 4K.

PS4 also had a bandwidth advantage over the Xbox One. It also had bumps in areas other than resolution, but by and large that's the most noticeable one. The same story will play out but in reverse, and the diminishing returns on increasing resolution mean it may matter less.

The narrative hasn't really changed at all. Native resolution is preferable, however there's a much larger different between 900p vs 1080p than 1800p and 2160p. The higher the resolution gets, the less noticeable those jumps are.

People like someone you don't? Oh the horror!

Tim can come off as a rather aggressive fan at times, but he's just that, a fan. No different from someone who is passionate about a sports team. Tim is also on a few podcasts and he is a pretty reasonable and nice dude. He also does a lot for building a community of Xbox fans on Twitter, and in a strange way he is a bridge between the community and the Xbox execs.

But hey, that's cool if you just can't accept someone being a fan of something you're not.

Tim is not an insider nor claims to be.
Tim does not associate with MisterX.
Misterx has made claims and i can say i know too much about that and he definitely doesnt know jack shit. ;)

Lets not start attacking the xbox community. Let the shit go already. :/

I'm genuinely pleased to see you on here, away from that...disaster of a place.

What is this now? Tim and NICE in the same sentence?

God be my witness. I have seen it all.

He is NOT my social voice. Never in a million years. Not this tool.

I'd recommend you get out more, maybe you'd see how actual NICE people look like.

Just kind of creepy that you care this much.

You're talking about the guy with that cringeworthy twitter sig, right? Oh, you're not.

I get that BeastFireTimDog
wow
is in your tribe, but he's a real piece of work that should be defended by absolutely no one.

EDIT: Never mind, I didn't know that this is what we were dealing with.

Is this what integrity and dignity look ?

People go through shit and change. Those days are long past and you dont know what i was put through by those fans i was talking about, going after my personal life. You are still wallowing in it by proof of what you just posted. Enjoy your misery. My past is just that, son. The past. Grow up.

I also find it very odd you post that first pic. Was you the one trying to impersonate me and send out personal info? Hmmm... And you are trying to justify what you say? Mmmkkk then. :/

This thread has devolved quickly. There are certain people on both "sides" if you can call them that who want to pick fights at every opportunity, usually over complete nonsense, and their side has to always be right. Reminds me of US politics. For the sake of everybody else, please stick to the topic or have your conversation somewhere else. The personal attacks being thrown back and forth are incredibly embarrassing, but I guess we should all be used to them by now.

The libraries are too similar. If you really care about the MS exclusives which still are mostly powered by the big three, then you most likely already own the One.

Scorpio is going to need to have some really great console exclusive games people are going to want to play, if they want to attract PS4 owners en masse. Personally I don't think they can do it. They never made the investment in first party studios (not counting Halo/Gears/Forza) and it seems as though 3rd party exclusive deals are drying up or going nowhere.

80+m 360 sold, there are enough Xbox fans left to get, they don't need to convince anyone else.
Hola, Forza, Gears will do.

No they won't. If they did, European 360 players would have bought them already. And most of the 80 million people are not Xbox fans. They are just consumers who bought the cheapest and best console that all their friends had. The sales for the OG Xbox were incredible at least in my country, and nobody seemed to care.

Yeah I know what you're saying. Realistically outside of a couple surprises, nothing much besides the usual exclusives are coming to Xbox. That's why I suggest that they take a big loss on consoles, make it very powerful and hope to ride the "we have the best looking 3re party games" for a few years. If they want to grow their ecosystem, that's how they should do it. If they won't invest in first party, invest in a killer console for very cheap.

Consumers are buying the slim instead of Pro (including me). That tells you how little the power difference or better looking games matter, if the console plays the same games.

Well, that difference could play out on screen if Microsoft were to decide to pull the plug on the Xbox One shortly after the release of the Scorpio, allowing the latter to be shine through exclusive titles. If they stick to their original plan and pursue a similar strategy to Sony and its PS4 Pro, I am afraid that the technical superiority on paper will not translate that well in-game. Again, there will be improvements, surely, but somehow I doubt that they will matter that much to anyone other than the enthusiast fringe that has proven willing to drop hundreds of dollars on shiny and relatively expensive tech...

I'm sorry but a developer would have to willfully fuck something up, to get worse performance, when faced with such a gulf in performance.
Arkham Knight PC. It doesn't really matter if the game isn't optimised in the higher configuration. This is exactly the issue the contentious PS4 Pro titles have, like for like the gulf in performance should mean there would be no additional drops. But in reality games are upgraded and these new modes need to be optimised in order to reach a similar level of performance. You will see a load of this on native 4K games on the Scorpio.

Hoping 399 and also hoping MS run some incentive to get Xbox One owners to upgrade. I am sure the local retailers will do something but it would be great if MS did one.

Curiously optimistic about Scorpio. E3 cannot come soon enough but I suspect we will find out way before that.
