Is Zelda really bathing? To me it looks more like she's hugging herself, kneeled down in front of something important to her. Sad memories and all that.
It's the same fountain from Skyward Sword where Zelda bathes to remember her past lives.

Ign portugal published their interview with aonuma, but there wasn't anything new unfortunately. Only talked tidbits about the development that we already heard in past interviews.

Please tell me this guide is coming to the US, and not a prima guide

Also what's that third version on the far right? Paperback?

Of course a guide is spoilerlish. I don't really see the point of this when 1) everything will be available online for free 2) the way the game is designed is the perfect opposite of a guided routine 3) it's overpriced, especially for the "premium" editions

Thats great honestly, seems like this game will handle the story well. Wich is not super common in open world games imo.

Cutscenes are not the only way to convey a story in a video game. That's a rather lazy way to do it in fact, most of the time absorbing all the efforts to create a narrative... ESPECIALLY in an open world structure, it's the laziest of ways (even if the cutscenes can be directed with talent)

Is the guide available for preorder? I want to order it but I heard that the description page has spoilers.
It was up for preorder on amazon UK and then taken down, it's not available for pre order on amazon us but apparently you can find the listing with the "spoilers" there

I would never use this on my first playthrough, but I would totally be interested in having a catalogue of the game just to satisfy my curiousity and for subsequent playthroughs where I'm looking for everything.

Of all the footage we've had so far, which video would you say demonstrates all the things you can do in game the best?

I haven't kept up with every bit of gameplay footage, and many videos are 20+ minutes long, but I wanna hype myself up :D.

This plateau video is pretty good with an experienced player and Anouma talking through it. Doesn't cover horses or paragliding or shrines or runes but good for everything else you can do from the start

Translation that I did of the ign portugal interview:

The video doesn't show questions, but rather aonuma just talking about the game:

"As you know, this game started out with the Wii U in mind, and when it was decided that we would also release it on switch there was some pressure. One of the reasons was that we had to release it on launch day, but in the end, we started to see the development of this version as something positive, since it would be offer an opportunity for even more people to play it."

"When we started the development of the game, where the experience is divided between the tv and gamepad, the game was developed with the two screens in mind. As we started the development of the switch version, where the experience is only one screen, we had to adapt what we had done up until then, so we could unify both the TV and Gamepad screen experience into one screen. This was the main challenge for us"

"If you look at past zelda titles, Skyward Sword for example, the feedback was positive, but we were told that the game was extremely linear. Even considering the size of the game, you couldn't hop on epona and explore freely. In Skyward Sword, we developed each area independently, one at a time, then we put them together side by side. You as player had to complete the objective of an area to then go to another. All of these areas form the game's world, but since you have to follow a specific order, the adventure felt linear. In this new game, we wanted the player to have total freedom.

"Instead of following the formula of creating multiple areas that when combined create the whole game, which we traditionally used in almost every zelda title, we went back to the model of the original game, where we first create the world and then we fill it with a lot of activities and secrets. For this reason, this is the zelda that offers the biggest amount of different playstyles that a player can have."

The last part of the interview has the following question: "Besides Zelda, which other game would you like to make?"

"Hmmmm.... i don't think i have any energy left (laughs)"

This interview was weak compared to others, but since deckard chapel asked for a translation, here it is. Sorry if the translation doesn't sound natural, since it's not my first language.

I love how Nintendo has approached responding to feedback and criticism in recent Zelda games. After Skyward Sword there was a lot of criticism of its linearity but also of Zelda games in general being slow to start, clogged with tutorials, etc. Then Nintendo released ALBW which started very briskly and gave the player more freedom with items and dungeon order. ALBW was a great Zelda game and hugely refreshing. Now BOTW is taking that freedom even further and responding to criticism in a different way with the open, natural world being such a contrast to the linear, almost stage-like design of Skyward Sword's overworld zones. And there are so many other changes they made as well.

Yeah, it's not like they just made open world, they took to heart every single complaint that people had of past zelda titles and gave us even more than we expected. Super Mario Odyssey feels very similar in this regard. Shows that nintendo does listen to the fans, even if sometimes we don't feel that. I just hope kensuke tanabe hears the fans about paper mario and metroid and give us what we want too!

It's also worth noting that they have seem to have thought to make the Hero Mode of other Zeldas as the base for this game's difficulty while improving the enemy designs again. While I worry for enemy variety, enemy Quality seems to be quite solid and their willingness to throw like 4-9 enemies per encounter that can easily kill link in 1-3 hits can offer more opportunity to make each more situation notable particularly with the complete lack of regenerating health compared to most action adventure games these days which forces the amount of resources the player has to rise and fall making the journey feel like it has arcs.

I think the durability system really is what is going to make this game exciting because you're going to constantly think about what you should do with each item for both combat and interacting with the environment and systemic emphasis of this game enables many different tools multiple abilities that can have different draw backs.

33 days until 3/3 and my patience is starting to wear thin. Haven't been so hyped for a game release in 2 years. Also the box art for BotW is so, so good.

So I've been playing through some past Zelda games I never played/finished in anticipation for BotW and also to brush up on the story. I'm currently playing Minish Cap and Twilight Princess HD. To those that have played Minish Cap, do I seriously have to complete all these fucking Kinstone Fusions to beat the game? I've been using a guide and I cannot imagine having to do this without one, there are so many and the backtracking is really starting to wear down my patience. I just got the third element infused and the guide I'm using is just Fusion after Fusion after Fusion and I'm scrolling and scrolling and just, holy shit. Skimming I'll see things like "This one is actually pretty important later on" so I'm just like, good lord do I have to just do all of them?

And don't even get me started on that horrible woman that lost all her Cuccos, I will never ever get that final piece of heart from her.

If you just want to progress focus on the Golden Kinstones. The Other ones open up paths and secrets for items.

Amazon doesn't deliver on launch day?

I selected free shipping (takes 7 days or something). I don't mind waiting. Besides, that's an estimate, they usually ship it sooner.

I had DQ8 pre-ordered with free shipping and they shipped it the same day it was released.

Would like the Pro Cont, but I don't have any money left. I might even have to cancel the Switch pre-order if I don't solve some monetary issues by then.

I can always pick a Switch later, but the BotW pre-order will stay no matter what.

If money is an issue you should sell the Switch.

If you're feeling ruthless you can mark it up by a lot.

I'm getting my Switch at a Gamestop midnight release, but I bought the Zelda Special Edition at BestBuy, so I have this agonizing wait inbetween midnight and waking up to pick up at traffic hour. I hate it

Oh I see, I just assumed people buying a Switch online would want it day 1.

Doesn't read OPs, especially not his own
Is the special edition still available? Not the one with the sword, but the one that has the soundtrack? I am kinda short on money so I only have the switch preordered and was just gonna pick up the standard zelda on launch day, but if the preorder that isnt so expensive is still available i want to hop on that as soon as possible

Probably going to avoid Gaming for a while since I want to take it easy and do as many sidequests as possible before diving into the story bits.

They keep him in, not you out.

Likely they'll be something we can activate further to help weaken him in order to truly defeat him or something like that.
Maybe it's like the towers and bunkers in the AV battleground in WoW. If you take down the towers the boss is weakened. If you don't, hes stronger and has bodyguards with him for each tower remaining.

Why would they cancel? Don't freak me out, brb gonna check my amazon.fr order for the second time today. ;)

He he. Some people have had theirs canceled, luckily I was able to preorder right after the presentation, so I guess I'm not at risk.

I want one because it will look awesome on the bookshelf in my office.

I don't even remember Zelda bathing in SS to remember her past lives

It was only in the M rated version.

You get a guide because you don't want to be running around trying to find something. If you're going to find information on the Internet anyways, then the whole 'spoilers' thing is moot.

It's not currently available for preorder but it does show a glimmer of hope that it will be back. At Best Buy the master edition says "sold out" the special edition says "coming soon".

This is an overview of the Faron region from the new trailer. You can see the two statues Miyamoto and Aonuma were riding around shooting bokoblins at the 2014 Game Awards. This is where they said "We must be near a dungeon" and sure enough there's a shrine.
