Nioh Review Thread

Even though I'm just focusing on tech coverage of the game, I want to chime in and say that I absolutely love it. Just an incredible game. The best thing Team Ninja has made in a very long time. An absolute return to the greatness of Ninja Gaiden in my book.

:D or you the guy who made that Gravity Rush 2 video? you have a good taste friend ;)

Games like this are hard to say how some places will review it but from what I played before it was easily a near must play title if you like the type of genre then an obvious must play. Good overall visuals, style and fun to progress in.

Roughly how many levels not counting twilight missions? How is the level variety?

Shouldn't have entered this thread. The wait was already unbearable, but now it turns out it's actually reviewing well? I need this game now.

I wish this game were up my alley, sounds great by all accounts. I just really hate the souls style of difficulty where you get punished for dying. I have no issue with hard games that make you keep trying, its just when I get punished for continuing to try that I get super tilted.

This type of game isnt niche any more. DS2 is 90+ on metacritic because From Software are critical darlings. Team Ninja have credibility with action games... I dont think it was ever going to be one of those misunderstood games. Like Monster Hunter early on.

I need to stop thinking of Japanese developers as this small, injured, little animal. They are packing quality heat.

Seems like an other great PS4 exclusive.
2017 is starting with a bang.
Japanese developers are finally getting their act together.

If any reviewer is here. Is the stats scaling still broken in the final game? (eg. Secondary stat gives you more damage than the main stat after the first few level).

If it had ended up too hard, reviewers will dock for that imo

Wow, pleasantly surprised by the initial reviews. They must have improved the game significantly since the alpha.

I played the Alpha and was not a fan at all. Then I gave it another shot and played the recent Last Chance Demo and I really enjoyed my time with it. I am still on the fence about picking it up right away, but these reviews are definitely making me lean toward getting it sooner rather than later.

I really want everyone to know how much more Titanfall 2 sold than Nioh. It was a staggering amount.
Sony publish this games out Japan, there are tons of games but they chose Nioh, now we know the reason

I think it has more Dark Souls than NG (level design, items etc)

I think a Dark Souls fan may like it but a NG fan could like it as well though. both can also hate it so, you do need to try it at the very least as a fan of either.

Same... I am playing the game for my review.. but I have yet to finish the game.. It is a giant game. And it is fucking great,,

Nioh should be presented by it's real name.. Last name: Year. First name: Game. Middle name: of the motherfucking.

I love this game. My biggest problem is that I love it to much. lol. I simply can't finish the game because of it. Yes, I could rush through the main missions, but no fucking way I will do that. The sub missions, twilight missions and all the other stuff is simply to great to skip past.

Yes this game has a lot of Soulskind elements, but it has a much better fight system, and it actually makes some of the Soulskind elements much better. This game is simply amazing IMO.

I will post some more stuff later, but for now.. If you enjoy a good challenge and love action games.. Go get Nioh, it is simply amazing.

Great alpha, improved beta, phenomenally polished final demo and now great reviews. Feels good to have been there from day one.

Gamereactor Spain: http://www.gamereactor.es/analisis/366653/Nioh/ - solid 9/10

Our guy is pretty happy with the rewarding combat, says this is to Dark Souls what Burger King was to McDonald's, as its got it's very own personality but makes the genre grow with healthy competition. Lol I don't think he means those brands are healthy, but you know.
