Need to shop a pro on this.

i would assume so.

If a game has a hard 30fps lock, 'boost mode' or whatever it's called might prevent certain drops from happening, but it's not gonna deactivate the framerate lock.

Well, The Witcher 3 would greatly benefit from 3-5 extra FPS in certain areas.
Yes. But locked 30 is also great and if it fixes frame pacing then game changer.

So for games that drop frames and is vsyncd to say 30 or 60 it can help push it up to those more? Hmm

This won't turn Bloodborne into 60FPS, lol. But it's interesting to see what it does.

I imagine it breaks some games completely.

which means that - just like controller remapping - they should make us able to configure these settings on a per-game basis.

Hype Train conductor. Works harder than it steams.
So any games with a unlocked framerate or runs at 60fps most the time will be either near 60fps or locked 60fps

Probably allows the CPU to run at 2,1GHz. Not sure if they can utilize the extras CUs for games not programmed for it, but there's a possibility. Or they can boost the GPU/VRAM clock speeds.

Why would games need to be programmed for the extra CU's?

Do games suddenly stop working when you upgrade your PC graphics card?

It's the same thing.

Bloodborne at 60? Insta PS4 Pro buy.

Nope, Bloodborne is capped at 30 FPS. And I doubt Pro could run it at smooth 60FPS without any optimization anyways.

The problem with Bloodborne's stuttering also isn't an incostitent framerate (it's at 30 FPS most of the time) but frame pacing issues. And those won't get fully fixed just by increasing the power

In terms of framerate (does it do anything else? Maybe auto-downsampling?) this option will be mostly for games that can't hold their target framerate very well, but it won't make 30FPS games run at 60FPS.

Anyone who can read japanese willing to translate the full text of this function, btw?

Yea, this would be cool.

Fantastic news. Can't wait till DF comes in and has to analyze every old game in this mode! Lol
It shouldn't be the same games they keep doing like Shadow of Mordor or Project Cars like why those no one even plays or cares about those lol

Seriously why it wasn't implemented from the start is mind blowing.

Probably because it will break things occasionally, but assuming enough testing has been done, compatibility is good enough to let users turn it on.

Will be interesting to see what the one game is that is unplayable with this option or whatever!

This is most likely just having PS4 games run at higher CPU clock. Would not affect GPU bound games, as the GPU on Pro has different arch but CPU is the same.

Wonder what that means for games with dynamic resolutions such as Doom?

I don't get why it would break something, when there are frame rate caps in every game?

So does this mean non Pro patched games can utilise the extra power to be more consistent? Like will games with variable resolutions stick to 1080p more often?
