More like:
A certain 1080p/30fps game dipped constantly below 30fps (~25fps) = now (more) stable 30fps.

A certain 1080p/60fps game dipped constantly below 60fps (~50-60fps) = now (more) stable 60fps.
Add...

A certain dynamic resolution that runs avg. below 1080p = now will run close to 1080p most of time.

It is a God send feature for unpatched PS4 games on Pro.

I saw some tearing just now in non-beast mode around 1st fires after the bridge in Forbidden Woods. I did not see tearing in beast mode.

I might be wrong, more concrete testing is needed.

I wonder how this affects battlefield 4. the game was running like crap with 64 players in conquest.

Oh wow, I didn't remembered about BF4. I wanna replay it again in Boost Mode for sure.

Is there an ETA on the public release of this new firmware? (I didn't want to try the FW beta).

Now I believe Sony will put the Supersampling option in a future FW.

Anybody looked the Video Settings of the Beta???

I think this update is going to be so minimal that we'll need DF to use all their fancy tech to see what's really going on.

Capture some video and share on youtube bro (or is that disabled on beta). Let GAF detectives help.

Welcome to 2013.

Apart from the obvious resolution differences we've needed DF and Nx gamer since the console launch lol.
There are a lot of unpatched games with framerate issues on base PS4.

To be fair every game DF tested that had dips in 30fps or 60fps will need to be tested again.

Were you running with the beast rune for maximum beast?

I just went to Old Yharnam zone, the start area with lots of fires on stakes and spamming the Blades of Mercy... and I think that Busoto Modo works tiny bit better. It's still a 30fps game, that's for sure.

I'm off to boot for the first time Until Dawn. I'll play it in normal mode first and then switch to busoto mode.

So even legacy titles are going to have their PvP fucked with now?

So done with this bullshit on consoles.

If you want to test framerate drops in Bloodborne, go into a chalice dungeon in co-op mode, and find one of those centipede monsters.

I'm pretty sure the game drops to 15fps in that scenario.

Lord Error

Insane For Sony
It's not cu though but spe and it's not 2 like i said earlier but only 1. I'm remembering things wrong.

http://www.psdevwiki.com/ps3/Unlocking_the_8th_SPE

Technically 2 are disabled but you only get to unlock 1.
I think the big difference here is that on PS3, some devs would probably manually fine-tune the threading on the CPU, what each SPE would do etc..

No chance of anyone manually tasking the CUs. The task delegation there has got to be automated. This is why something like this boost mode is going to be far safer/stable than that PS3 SPE unlock hack, even if it's not just a clock boost.

Just tested the Gravity Rush 2 demo - No Pro support, but there's a very reproducible stuttering the first time you meet the Nevi in the town.

No hitching at all. Going to try again with boost mode off, just to verify.

Edit: BOOST MODE IS THE REAL DEAL.

So in theory could this help Skyrim on the Pro? It dips frames regularly in swampy/foggy areas and more CPU would help if that was encountered on a PC.

Basically could Pro-patched games see a benefit on the CPU side also or is that not this works?

Or as another example: Fallout 4, which IS getting a Pro patch soon.

Probably can't switch while a game is running I'm assuming, correct?

Hi, I'm nortonff. I spend my life going into threads to say that I don't care about the topic of the thread. It's a really good use of my time.

Can the boost be turned on and off with the game running?

Yes, caps are not removed by this mode obviously. What's improving is when shit hits the fan and the regular PS4 mode can't keep up and drops frames. How much improvement is what needs to be tested.
