Nioh |OT| Stamina is Ki

This is ridiculous. He's out of ki but is just backstepping away from me and I can't catch him. So you're meant to not be able to punish him for that? Why does the game teach you to play a certain way but then just absolutely throws that away

That's weird. So this is purely because the framerate is uncapped on menu screens?

I mean in assuming that's the cause. It's the logical conclusion given the evidence but I can't say with 100% certainty without frame rate testing equipment.

Can anyone confirm if this is a Pro-exclusive problem? It seems like an oversight if the game was designed with the original hardware in mind but I want to be sure if I should be switching to movie mode for the menu on my Slim or not.

Can't say as I only have a Pro at the moment. Listen for increases in fab speed while in menus especially at the starting point and that should give you your answer.

OK, NOW the game really is finished and I have to say these last few missions were underwhelming. The stages were harder than the bosses in them and I'm specially disappointed with the last two fights. They felt rushed and badly implemented.

The last boss specifically was a fucking joke, I had no fun at all with that fight. The conclusion scenes were what I was expecting them to be, which is mediocre at best. That credits' music was completely out of place too, what were they thinking?

Anyway, it's still one of the best games ever made, exclusively because of the gameplay. Now it's time to face everyone again on NG+.

Yeah, the massive bosses are ass. That one in particular plays like the dragon boss in Ninja Gaiden, but worse.

NG+ twilight in a nutshell

First time I've summoned someone. I don't even know if I'll ever get geared enough to do this alone without wasting an hour of my time whittling away at multiple health sponges at once while always 2 hits from dying.

Stuck on the 4th level with a
bunch of poison things and vacuums to suck up the poison. I got the the 2nd shrine and killed all enemies on the top, mid, and bottom levels. I can't find a path to the next area.

Please help

Hah, that's exactly where I'm at right now.
I'm not stuck (yet), but man I hate these obligatory
poison cave levels

Don't get overwhelmed by the poison. The key is that each room has its own poison generator (or two). Just turn on the poison sucking machine thingy, then destroy the generator. You can freely roam around the area after it's gone.

Beat everything in the main game without sloth, and now re-specced to abuse that shit in NG+. It's literally playing the game in slow motion, and it's still sooooo slooooow with the hp Tengu's and shit have.

Oh god I don't look forward to this.
So I'm doing this twilight mission and getting stunlocked by multiple enemies is...annoying.

I mean, yes, fighting two Onyudo at once plus other small enemies is not easy, but you also got grabbed by a grab that has one of the longest wind-ups in the game.

Uchibana? Tell me about it, the fight negates the use of living weapons

I didn't see it in time because I was targeting the one who ended my last attempt with another 2k hit, the skeleton with a RPG :(

In true Matsunaga clan style, I've taken quite a liking to blowing shit up. Shadowround Talismans and have plenty of bombs to go around equals me being able to settle into a nice niche for myself.

It even worked quite well on Yuki-onna aka
Nouhime
. Who knew that blowing up her icicle missiles was an effective way to neutralize them and make it so I could win pretty damn easy? Naomasa didn't fair much better afterward, either!

I've been playing on a Pro exclusively on action mode for the last week and 5 straight plus hours this evening and I just went over to feel mine and it didn't feel overly hot at all and sounding just as quiet as ever as far as fan noise goes.

also I know Spotify doesnt work with this game yet but can you use the media player w/ usb stick for tunes? I honestly can't see myself playing too much NG+ until they implement Spotify integration.

By rpg do you mean the hand cannon douchebags? Those are a pain. I remember in the Last Chance demo, my co-op partner got one-shot by one on Twilight.

I think the game has finally overstayed its welcome for me. At the last region, now, and I can barely work up the urge to continue. It's just so boring fighting the same monsters over, and over again. I've been doing every side-mission up to this point, and while I recognize that doing that is signing up for a certain level of tedium, it has kind of soured the challenge and excitement of the campaign (the fights are all I look forward to, since the story in this game is utter garbage anyway -- the cutscenes are just there for me to skip them).

I still enjoy going back and helping friends with coop. Still enjoy getting cool armor sets and fighting most of the bosses. But yeah, the levels aren't really getting better anymore (the end levels actually seem like a step back), and the encounters are well-tread ground. Having more missions and stuff will be good for any post-game grind that goes on, but yeah, I'm just sick of seeing the same enemies I guess.

Hot damn, y'all weren't kidding about the blueprint drop rates!! I killed
Muneshige
dozens of times, yet nothing. In the end I stopped since none of his gear or weapons are a part of my build. Got a sweet bow (was trying for that blueprint and the katana).

Really enjoying the game. Got one question, what happens if you quit the game mid level? I just got through a mid boss in a level and just put my ps4 in rest mode. If I closed the game instead, would I spawn where I left off or have to do the whole level again?

As long as you prayed at a shrine. You'll resume there.

Maybe I just got baited by the extreme hype, but this game is really easy so far. Like, I don't even think I'm particularly good at the game....you just have to have an ounce of patience. It's not really even a complaint. I adore the game so far...just a little confused.

Man, they changed the Kodama distribution from the Alpha. Have only found 2 so far lol.

Game is the shit, best TN game since NG:B easily.

Itagaki making Devil's Turd, while Hayashi kills it with this game. You lose this round Itagaki, back to the drawing board.

Most of difficulty stuff came from the Alpha, which was punishing as fuck. The fatigue animation that only happens now if you block an attack without any stamina left or if you get attacked and the stamina is depleted, would always trigger if you ran out stamina, no matter how. And it lasted longer iirc in the Alpha also enemies hit like freight trains too back then.

How far are you in? The spike doesn't really come until the 2nd boss.

Man, what the hell is going in with the cutscenes? It's like I'm playing an arcade game with random short disjointed scenes in between. It hardly matters here but damn.

The Alpha was tense as hell, that's where the rep came from. I'm only 3 bosses in but they've really toned down regular enemies from the cutthroat mobs they used to be.

This guy actually is allowed to get staggered but while you're attacking him from behind he gets his guard up

And he can do that sheath attack but if you run backwards away from him, no matter how far you run, he will continue following you and then even do a 90 degree turn to attack you

how do prestige points work? when i click something say vs yokai realm it disappears and is replaced by something else. does that mean i 'reforged' what hidden abilities i have or do i get the bonuses i put points into

Edit: figured it out

You can't just put points into the same one over and over, you'll see it rotate back in and you can add another point though.

A question to people who finished the game and all side missions:
How did you like the 2 last side missions -
Oda and Ice Lady
and
2 annoying samurai near a rock
?
I don't use a build based on a living weapon, but if it wasn't for amrita charging my Suzaku, I wouldn't have beaten the latter for a while, since I think I died somewhere in the middle.
As for the former, I expected it to be even worse, but thanks to the arena being larger and my Axe having fire damage, I managed to beat it on the 3rd or so try without dying (I think).

I think the main thing which helped me get through both was the Onmyo mystic art allowing for instant self buffs (regen) and fast casts on enemies (atk/def down, sloth).

Those 2 missions were way harder than anything else in the main story.

The music in this game...is sooo fucking good. Although it's too bad that most of it seems to only play during the boss battles for the most part aside from "urgent" themed missions or big Yokai fights. I just reached
The Defiled Castle (after the initial sewers)
and it's one of my favorite mission tunes, although a bit short. The area and the song remind me so much of Ninja Gaiden. Can't actually find the song on Youtbue yet either.
