Todd Howard: 2 new games 'bigger than anything we've ever done', also new mobile game

Though Howard was reluctant to give many (well, any really) specifics, he did confirm that the studio has three large projects in the works – two "classically Bethesda" games and a new mobile game.

"We've got a good number of projects on the go," he said. "We're bigger now and we do want to be putting out more stuff. We have two larger projects that are more classically the scale of what we do, but even bigger. We overlap the projects so we're working on them at the same time, but they're staggered," he teased. "I can't talk a lot about them, but I can say that they're bigger than anything we've ever done. They're a bit different, but definitely in the wheelhouse that people are used to from us."
Howard was similarly cagey about the studio's new mobile game, although he did mention that he'd learned a lot from the experience of making Fallout Shelter. "It was a huge surprise to us," he said. "Particularly how successful it was. We've got – what – 75 million players now? The one takeaway was that the game is somewhat unique, so for the thing we're doing next we wanted to continue to do that. We need to not look too hard at what's working well for other people. The game we're doing is a very different style game, unique in the space. There isn't something else we're looking at for style."

EDIT: Apparently both of them aren't The Elder Scrolls related

Elder Scrolls VI and a new IP hopefully.

I wonder what mobile game they could do for ES in the same vein as fallout shelter? Some city building tower defence hybrid where you have a settlement that you make prosper and defend from bandit/giant/vampire attacks?

I was hoping they would go smaller. İ never seem to be able to finish their games, even though I like them initially but become bored after 20 hours orso. Still looking forward to it.

As long as it runs on that busted, ugly, outdated, antiquated, bug ridden mess of an engine - no thank you.

Todd Howard himself lol. There was an interview around last E3 where he said they had two games in production, neither was ES. More specifically he said the tech to create what they want for TESVI doesn't exist yet.

Ooo that's different then

I'm guessing typical Beth formula, completely new setting and IP

Maybe he should ask NASA or NSA for help?

Eh I don't believe his bullshit, especially with the ram and GPUs in the current consoles. That and ps4 pro and Scorpio are decent power upgrades over the base models.Seems his statement is basically code for that they are limited by the shit CPUs in ps4/xb1.

They could simply code the game for a 1080, 16gb ram and skylake i7. For very obvious reasons they won't, but saying the tech isn't there is bullshit.

See the bottom of that ocean?
No?
Ok
No idea why but this made really laugh out loud. Well done sir.

OT - I think there is a little too much hate for Bethesda here. Yes, they have very buggy games, but let's be honest they make some of the most memorable games ever. Do they need a new engine? Yeah, do they need to get their storytelling tight, of course. But their world building is unmatched. Credit where it's due folks.

Assuming they are still not working on TESVI it would probably mean that we have a full console generation without a new TES. Kinda mindblowing - and stupid. Stop treating your IPs like some golden child. It's been almost a decade now since Skyrim. Jesus...

This is a really dense point of view. It's completely possible that the kind of game he wants to build isn't possible yet.
