NS Pro Controller tidbit: 40h on a single charge, autoparing when connected with USB

When I refer to "build quality" I'm not referring to durability, but how premium it feels. DS4's had a defect, but outside of that they feel a lot better by comparison.
Build quality is not great on DS4, the Xbox One controller is a lot better in term on materials used and quality, the Wii Pro controller is not bad either. The only thing i am going to miss is the headphones input in th Switch pro.

Disagree. The buttons didn't have the same quality as the other systems, and the plastic felt a tad cheaper as well.

The Analog Sticks also were rather a step down and it felt as if the Wii U Game Pad had better quality plastic and rubber on the sticks.

All DS4s i held so far were either squeaking, bending, had rattling touch pads and/or the rubber falling off the analogue sticks.
I love the DS4 ergonomics, but the build quality is absolute shite.

Is there any other wireless controller that last longer than a wiiupro ?

I'm not sure. I can definitely tell you that nothing in the last two generations has beaten it, so that really only leaves the Wavebird which I haven't had any experience with. It's definitely a beast though.

Wow, that's a lot. Does this mean rumble is gonna be shit like the Wii U pro controller? That lasted forever but rumble is weak.
I always found the rumble in the WiiU Pro Controller just fine. But maybe I just appreciate it because W101 on the Gamepad with rumble is impossible. It's so unbelievably loud!

Skipped the Wii generation just wondering what tech in this controller outclasses the competition. I get it has great battery life but is there other things ?
Not counting the IR camera, it packs the same tech as the joy-cons. So NFC, motion/gyro and HD rumble. The only thing really missing is a headphone jack.

Never used a Dualshock 4 or Xbone controller I assume??
Not you who quoted, but yes I own one and I've used one. Dualshock 4 has garbage tier build quality and I strongly prefer the 360 controller over it (garbage tier d-pad not included). However the guy was specifically talking about the battery life.

Is there a particular reason why the DS4's battery life is so garbage?

Stupid useless Eyetoy light stays on.

EDIT: I just realized you could use the Wii U's Gamepad larger battery to increase the battery life of the Switch Pro Controller even greater.

It has potential to be a great PC controller. The battery life is much better than the DS4 and it has better tech than the Xbox One controller like gyro.

That's quite an assumption!!

I doubt it'll beat the Xbox Elite controller which is what I'm currently using. The lack of analog triggers is also quite a major issue, you can count driving games out without those.

that doesn't seriously affect the ds4's battery.

digital triggers kills that stone dead for me.

Is the USB-port on the controller itself Type-C? I don't see it mentioned on the back of the box.

IIRC Yes

I was really disappointed by trying this at a preview event last week. Build quality and design (that transparent part seemed right for a 10$ 3rd party PS2 controller) looked horrendous in person...

Wondering if the controller communicates through the USB cable when wired to the console or if it's still using Bluetooth.

It'd probably communicate through the cable and turn off the Bluetooth.

Actually, maybe not because we need to see what would happen if you were gaming and you pulled the USB cable out during gameplay.

The wording used for the instructions seems to indicate that the USB cable is only used to charge the device and synchronize/pair it to the console.

Wouldn't be surprised if it used wired when connected as there is a wired only third party pad in existence

Very nice, do we also know if that cable is USB 3.1? I need a Type-C to Type-A cable if I want to charge the Switch with my powerbank, so that would be nice to know.
All Type-C cables are USB 3.1, as that's the version that adds C support to the spec.

I haven't tried one yet, but the buttons look huge to me (in a good way).

Good to hear. Regular controller battery is the one technical area where Nintendo completely out-classes the (major) competition.

But you won't hear any of the usual suspects that normally yell about power disparity and "lol nintendo" acknowledge it.

Sorry! Posted very quickly, the buttons felt small (especially triggers and bumpers) on the regular Joy-Cons, which conversely feel extremely high quality in terms of build. Got mixed up

I'm hoping this gets PC support. It'll be great for fighting games due to the d-pad and digital triggers, like the Wii U Pro before it.

It's just a shame it's got digital triggers and is only available in grey-ish black.

I'd love one in white or red. Until then, I'll try to make due with the Joy-con grip.

This is very good indeed, cant wait to try this Switch Pro Controller.

The DS4 uses an 1000mAh battery and its bad. I replaced mine for an 2000mAh and it does ger better, but not twice the battery life.

Sony should make 2000mAh standart for DS4.

I'm a big fan of the Wii U Pro controller, and I enjoyed my short experience with the Switch iteration.

Still, it is expensive, and I wish the battery was accessible.
