Amazon Cancelling Master Edition's of Zelda: BotW Orders

Yeah. That's just sad, because it doesn't benefit anyone in this case. It's "Limited" in fact but just for the sake of being limited. And then some people will resell it at much higher prices.
I have to believe they still make a steady profit on these limited editions so why they produce so few of them doesn't really make sense to me. Are they saying it's more important for people to have a really limited item rather than making more of them which would bring in more money? I just can't logically see what their belief is here.

I really feel bad for those being affected by this. I've never seen anything like this.

No, this is all on Amazon. They took more orders than they were supposed to. Best Buy and Gamestop didn't cancel anyone. Only Amazon. The fault is all on Amazon here.

You're taking quite the leap in logic here. What would Amazon have to gain from selling more than they had only to pay out of pocket when they couldn't fulfill? Makes zero sense. The only reasonable conclusion I can come up with is they were told a certain amount would come in, they took enough orders based on that number, but the final amount was much lower.

Have you seen what happens to most "limited" editions?

I'm basing it on the info that was given here. If what was said is true, that's all on Amazon. That quote sounds like overselling beyond their allocation rather than selling their allocation and then being shorted.

To be honest I never saw any logic coming from Nintendo, but that's just my opinion.

It's still weird that there seems to be no consistency with the ones they cancelled. Like do they just randomly select them to cancel?

The funny part is that those of us that will get the BOTW ME will likely get in in a bubble mailer (Amazon will find a way)

Yeah but Nintendo continues to underdeliver. But like I said, they probably know better than me. All I know is they'd have two more purchases of the NES Mini from me and my dad if they weren't so hard to find.

Unless I missed something, I think we are all still speculating. Has Amazon gone on the record yet?

You're giving me visions of the mailman dropping the thing on my porch when I am not home.

Well guess it doesn't matter too much since I for one am not selling it and package conditon is whatever.

Reminds me of the time I got the limited edition of Deus Ex for PC through Amazon. It was in a bubble mailer, and somehow there was a friction burn all the way through the packaging, and into the side of the box. Which was partially crushed on top of it.

For god's sake, I've gotten pens in a big ass box from Amazon, they can't throw my fragile collectors edition in a box?

I made damn sure to request March 3rd off from work. Straight up told my boss it was for the Nintendo Switch.
Going to Midnight and somehow be awake all day waiting for Zelda. Till then I will maybe only have Snipperclips to play (it better be launch)

Or you could receive a bubble mailer with a big hole and nothing inside.

(That happened to me once from Amazon. In fairness, they did send another copy of the game and all was well.)

It might be finally over guys!

"This was a limited-edition product for which we had an allocation of 2,900 units. We reduced all initial orders(that were larger than 1) to a quantity limit of one and reached out the vendor for additional stock, however none is available. As a result, we have pulled the customers in order of order-placement and have to cancel the 1,235 oversell."

From a thread on another site that I don't know if we are allowed to mention? (you can probably guess the other place where people have been talking about this issue)

Here's a post I came across on /r/nintendoswitch from someone who had theirs cancelled 5 days ago. The numbers are roughly close to those Kolma posted. Not that it makes it true but thought I'd share.

Amazon cancelled Zelda Master Edition preorder 2/15 never sent notification. Just got done chatting they had 1700 to sell and customers ordered over 3k. Check your order if you got one in. :(

I got this e-mail:

Hello,

Due to high demand and potentially limited supply, at this time we are limiting all orders of the following item(s) to 1 per customer:

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Master Edition - Nintendo Switch

We have canceled the additional quantities you requested, but appreciate your interest in the product(s) listed above.

We hope to see you again soon.

Sincerely,

Customer Service
Amazon.com

Which is weird since I only ordered one anyway. The order still shows up fine in my Amazon account though.

Seems like they were cancelling first to try and get within allotment then with the outcry decided to purge multi orders. I doubt there are any extra units

Logic thinking. Cancel a bunch of 1 quantities first, THEN cancel the extra copies.

Dude, my first TLG LE just had shipping stickers posted ON the box and sent out!

Their CS Reps have a book based answer for situations like this regardless of how much sense the answers make. If they can help you, they're all over it, when there's something they can't do, they use the book answer.

So, you order 1 and they don't have it. Part of the statement says they can't meet demand. OK, that part is right, the other part is just a blanket statement regardless of your quantity.

I got an email saying they're cancelling my "additional copies" of the Master edition.

...I didn't have any additional copies. I only ordered one.

My order is currently still intact.

What the fuck are they doing over there?

Makes sense, figured it was just kind of a blanket e-mail to try n cover their asses

See the previous 50+ posts on this for more info. Ignore the email.

Future Order Prevention Unit. Just couldn't resist getting a second copy after the people with bad credit cards batch came back in stock, could you?

Updated the OP.

Why not limit to 1 in the first place? Common sense isn't quite common.

I also ordered as soon as it went live, so I'm pretty confident the cancellation order is bullshit. I managed to get an NES Classic from Amazon, and those sold out even quicker, so I know my finger game is strong.

Or, you know, Nintendo good be thrilled to have the best problem a company could hope to have (too much demand), and do what they can to make more. People could have the option of downgrading to a regular edition, or waiting to get a special as they became available.

Not that this being Amazon's fault is necessarily true btw. Fuck Nintendo, their track record makes me just assume it is their fault.

I didn't even think about this but you're right, the remaining concern for those who ordered it is in what shape it will arrive. How has Amazon been for things like this of late? I know an amiibo we got a few months back was a bit bended at the top.

Sorry, not sure I follow - Zelda won't be available at midnight?

I was pissed at them for shipping the Black Friday New 3DS in bubble mailers, boxes got dinged.

Does any store still have the standard edition available for day one? Amazon just pushed mine a week back. Figure I'll just have to go to my local GameStop tonight for a preorder.

Ugh. Sorry to hear it. :( I think I remember hearing problems with some other limited items last year as well.

yeah unfortunately the people in the warehouse can be real crappy. ordered a plunger a few weeks back. Obviously not a big or expensive thing but they literally just placed the shipping label on the plunger box itself and shipped it that way. No tape on the flaps to keep them shut or anything.

Blegh, that's annoying, sorry. Kudos on the pun, though!
