Still have some DLC stuff to do. Took me 80+ hours on Despair difficulty, but i thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience.

Another Myst-like game. The banner is crap, click to check the screenshots before dismissing the game.

I backed this on Kickstarter 4 years ago. They've built it into a much bigger game since.

I've got a question for y'all - I want to pick up the new Civilization Humble Bundle for my stepfather, who lives in Slovakia. Can I just buy the Humble Bundle codes and send them off to him, or are these codes specific to the region where you buy them? He doesn't have Steam right now and doesn't play any other games, but he's always enjoyed the Civilization series and I thought this would be a nice surprise. I'd just have him download Steam, make an account, and then give him the codes. Would that work, or no?

It should work no problemo.

I wouldn't be surprised if Shenmue 1+2 is the next Sega PC port and it could explain the drought of info. The success of the kickstarter caught Sega by surprise and they then decided to put any other ports on the back burner while the two monkeys they employ part time to slooowly do ports could work on getting Shenmue out on PC/PS4 before 3 hits.

God I hope it's not Shenmue they're working on. I couldn't get into those games at all. Everyone raves about them, but shit, talk about boring.

Man, the character Dan Ryckert voices in Read Only Memories is so jarring.

RsiUKZD.png

I see this guy, and I hear Dan Ryckert's voice come out of him, and I just get this negative physical reaction out of it. I just splits my brain. I can't even. I just can't.

This new VA monitor just makes me realize how *great* my IPS screen is.
The BW contrast (something VA screens excel at) is only slightly better. Dell must have lucked out on a panel.

Not that the VA is anything to scoff at, really. Other than slight contrast loss when looking at wide angles, it's great. Colors maybe not as vibrant as IPS, but really, really close.
Tried Darksiders Warmastered, 100+ fps all the time, with nary a judder (single instance, most probably due to asset loading).

The fact that multiple monitors at the same time is an amazing QOL improvement (browse GAF while watching videos, look up a FAQ while playing) cannot be understated.

If it somehow doesn't crap out in the next few months, that may as well be best €480 I spent on a PC part.
Awesome. So the gamma levels and colours seem alright at the high refresh rate? I might look into one myself, I've recently gotten more desk space having opted out of speakers and going with headphones full time for my PC needs I have more desk space to work with, so I might go for a 27" as well.

How is the voice acting in the game besides that? I played it before they added it.

Why don't you like Dan? He likes Wrestling, junk food and Metal Gear.

Easily the best dude @ GB. .

I enjoy it. There's only one character so far that kind of sounded like they were literally being phoned in, but they're an extremely minor character so it didn't bother me. Aside from that, it's good. Turing is who you're listening to most of the time and they did a good job there, I quite like TOMCAT too but I might be biased there.

Oh no, I love Dan, it's just that as a voice for an NPC like that gives me cognitive dissonance.

Man what, after the first dialogue with him all this guy talks about is wrestling.

Yeah, watching a good deal of GB's endurance run (which admittedly probably makes it look worse than it is) left me rather nonplussed. If they think prioritizing this over say Yakuza is a good idea I would be kind of speechless. I still might get it if it was dual language, mind, and the real reason would probably be that the different branches of Sega are still unable to interact and carry out a cohesive strategy properly.

Oh ok. The way you wrote that made it sound like you really hate Dan lol.

Yea that would indeed explain the drought. If they are actually taking both 1+2 and bundling them together with some type of remastering work it probably took em a while.

Finally forced myself to finish Trials of Blood Dragon, and, unfortunately, it's not a very good game. Artstyle, story and music is great, but gameplay is tedious and very frustrating most of the time. It could be a good game if it feature only usual bikes sections from other Trials games, but they also added walking/platforming sections, and they are terrible. Such controls are okay for bikes, but not for on-foot levels, it's not possible to smoothly run at any direction, jumping is very frustrating too. Also, there is levels were you need to fly around and avoid obstacles, and sections with minikart - fuck that shit, instant fun killers. I just can't imagine how it's possible to clear all levels without failing, some levels are insanely hard, and they are hard mostly because you can't properly control your character. But as i said, visuals and sound in this game are great, Ubisoft artists and Power Glove outdone themselves, i wish gameplay were as cool as visuals.

It's amazing how your view of a game can change when you come back to it with a little bit of patience and a new set of mind. When I first played Momodora: RotM I didn't really like it but now it is probably in my Top 10 Metroidvanias on Steam.

That said, since I'm close to beating Momodora and getting Zelda+my Switch on Friday, I need thee once again, SteamGAF! Again thou shall pick a game or two for me that I can finish between now and Friday.

Here is what I have currently installed:

Seeing Valkyria Chronicles in the list I somehow get the urge to continue it. But then I remember that I'm in the mission with the giant tank and the lady with the blue hair and the big boobs that give me backpain by seeing them always fucks my team up and don't want to touch the game ever again.

LPC is like the definition of all style and no substance
That's pretty much Grasshopper's MO. Shadows of the Damned was their most playable game, and I think that's only thanks to Shinji Mikami making a low rent RE4 out of it. Still has those patented Grasshopper moments of mandatory mini-games that are tedious and go on on way past their welcome.

I had my fun with it despite the minigames sucking. The combat was functional there was enough stage variery and the combat was pretty good when you had everything unlocked. The game would benefit from 60fps and some minor tweaks here and there. Its not a great game by any means but easily above Dynasty Warrior games and Senran Kagura.

Killer is Dead and Shadows of the Damned are the most polished ones gameplay wise but they have the same issue with some unnecessary sections to add gameplay variety. (Big Boner Sections and the Gigolo missions for example)

I like Dan, but as far as I can tell that character is only there to say a bunch of Dan Rykert ass lines.

And yeah, overall the voice acting is pretty good, You can tell Snatcher was the biggest inspiration, even in the voice acting.

Didnt you like ryse son of rome? You cant go around saying stuff like that about another game if that were the case.

I can say whatever I want, you can't stop me!

Yeah the is GM MO basically. But out of those 3 titles I definitely feel like it's the weakest one in the gameplay department. For me I got bored pretty quickly of the gameplay while SotD and KiD didn't have that problem for me. Regardless though it would be nice to see LPC on pc for the improvements you said and of course the mods.

I'd definitely recommend Valkyria. That mission is the one everyone has trouble on, you just have to focus on the tank and ignore the other soldiers completely. Maybe use a walkthrough for that, cos the story is super good. Otherwise, Psychonauts for an relatively easy (barring the final level) but charming platformer, the Swapper for a puzzle platformer with a well paced difficulty curve and a decent story, and TIS-100 for puzzle programming that you can sink hours into. Ittle Dew and Bit Blaster are decent too, I guess, though I didn't really care much for Ittle Dew for whatever reason, and Bit Blaster is super simplistic. Barrier X could've been good, but it's pretty frustrating.

Shantae
Ori
Owlboy
Momodora
Cave Story
Rabi- Ribi
Axiom Vege
Guacamelee
Wings of Vi
Chronicles of Teddy
Cally Caves
Bunny Must Die
Alwa's Awakening
MegaSphere

Am I missing stuff?

Odallus and shovel knight count right?
