I'm having way more fun with Victor Vran than I expected. The voiceover helps tremendously in how it pokes fun at the genre. Works well with a controller too.

I wish Raven would make another game. The bunch of games they made before becoming COD slaves are not the best, but they are all fun and have interesting mechanics.

Managed to beat light elemental in Atelier Sophie.
What a shitty boss.
Still need to do the demon king and all that dlc dungeon stuff. I don't have forgotten materials left (and I don't want to grind for rare drops) but I could really use better harmonium weapons. I suppose I'll just enhance them and hope for the best.

Is this what happens when you go full anime?

If I could get a Singularity 2 (or a spiritual successor), Jedi Knight III or a big budget adaptation of Logan based of the X-men Origins: Wolverine formula, I would be so happy. Sadly Activision will continue to use Raven for COD and Destiny until the end of time.

Sniper Elite 4 is some really good fun, it's like a Eurojank™ game but without the Europeans or the jank, it's quite polished compared to the previous entries. The semi-open world formula fits the series quite will. It controls great, performs great and looks great, I'm kind of surprised how much I'm liking it.

Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire ended at 4.4 million. Obsidian managed a fantastic campaign.

Who said crowd-funding was in decline?!
sweet

i didn't back this one for as much money as i did pillars 1, even if i did love pillars 1 and the boxed copy i got, but i did put a little bit

i was kind of hoping that obs would create a new universe or something but at the same time they seem to be playing more with the setting and the pillars universe is pretty dope

now i just gotta play that dlc...

I thought it was. First Total War I never bounced off of. Just start with the normal Dwarven campaign, I think it's meant to be the easier race to get used to.

I mostly like the battles and there's just enough Civ style diplomacy, territory control and settlement upgrading to keep me entertained on the world map.
i would say depends on if you like to play battles or strategc layer more...
for the strategic part TWWh isnt ideal , especially as first TW game ... but as its the first fantasy TW its hands down best for the battles
Yeah it's great. Pretty polished, fun fantasy universe.

I like the strategy elements to the game. Nothing is super overwhelming at first, the game really lets you settle into it nicely. The RTS components are a good high-level overview of epic LOTR style battles, and the turn based stuff is engaging and interesting without being a slog.

It's a great balance.
yes. best ui in the series IMO.

and, because there's a great wargame layered over a cool RTS-like combat engine. it has a lot of stuff to do, too. each faction is 100% unique.
thanks for the impressions, sounds like something that deserves a shot at least

i used to play a bit of warhammer when i was a teenager (tho i had to quit because you need to be fucking rich to play that game for reals) so it'd be nice going back to something like that

Finished NieR 2. Can't wait to triple dip.

What did i miss in the world of pcgaming?
wow is this out already?

Hollow Knight is awesome. Enjoying it as much as Ori.

Night in the Woods was also a day one purchase and worth the price too.

Great week for gaming.

It is indeed pretty great and super fun in coop. Unfortunately a bit glitchy (i.e. one side mission didn't get marked as solved despite being fulfilled, some corpses randomly disappearing etc) but overall quite the blast to play.
Lot's of replay potential too.

That Mankind Divided Season pass is really a bad deal: the new dlc took me less than 2 hours to be completed with no kills, and they ask 12€ for it.
The first dlc at least was 3-4 hours long.

Another Myst-like game. The banner is crap, click to check the screenshots before dismissing the game.
That actually looks very interesting for VR.

You're also missing the most important game: (to be fair, it doesn't have a Steam page yet)

Sheesh. I really thought the new one would be longer given that it took a few months to release. Sounds like the low sales of the game really hampered their ability and/or desire to create good content for the season pass.

Not sure. The Missing Link isn't much longer than both of those DLC. In addition to which they also had to do this Breach stuff among other things.
Not sure why it took them five years to make this one, one year longer then the first one, where they had nothing to start off of. Seems like they run into troubles, had to reduce the scope. Add to this the usual BS from Square, the terrible marketing, and over inflated expectations. Seems like this could have ended much worse, at least the game seems to still live up the basic expectations of a Deus Ex title.

Well, my monitor arrived.

One dead pixel, left bottom corner, shouldn't be a problem.
144 Hz looks rather good, I must say. There's some blurring when scrolling black text on white background (I'm guessing overdrive artifacts), but nothing excessive.

Now to calibrate. Wish me luck. :)

Blurring usually isn't an overdrive artifact, it's what overdrive is designed to minimize ;)
Personally, I find minor blur a lot less offensive than overdrive artifacts (which generally manifest as "reverse ghosting").

Enjoy your monitor!

Well, to be honest if I remember correctly there was other stuff they did for Mankind Divided, originally it was a bigger game but SE forced them to split it into two titles. If this is true, probably there's already a lot of stuff done for Deus Ex 3, but simply they were forced to packed something up in order to sell it. The pre-order dlc is nothing else than a common main mission cut from the base game, and we can say the same thing regarding the first, proper dlc, another little section from Prague.

Gotta admit, looking at the upcoming and recent releases, it's kind tough being a PC only player right now. Yakuza 0, Nioh, Horizon, Zelda not to mention Persona 5 coming up. Who knows when we're getting Nier. Feeling a little envious at the moment.

Edit' Oh right, I still have my PS3 so I'll be able to play Persona 5 at least.

Isn't Eidos working on a new Tomb Raider and some Marvel games now?
Sounds like Deus Ex isn't a priority anymore.

I'm a bit further into 2064: Read Only Memories now. The first screen having some referential humour and a reproducible crash from a very basic interaction gave me a bad first impression, but since then the game's been pretty charming and cute. I like the pixel art, I like all the voice acting I've heard from the major characters, and the game's got a good vibe to it.

Yum!

Yeah, there's some great stuff coming out. Yakuza, Nioh and Persona 5 are games I'd like to play sometime, but honestly there's so much other games that I'm interested in that are already on PC or are coming, that I'm not bothered all that much. And those 3 aren't explicitly exclusive, so there's always a chance they might come over later.
Having been a PC only player with a preference for japanese games during the dark ages of Steam makes one accustomed to waiting.

Not really interested in Horizon and Zelda.

Nier is coming on the 10th anyway.

I find it though for a different reason -- I have no idea when I'm supposed to find time to play Torment: Tides of Numenera when Atelier Firis is releasing in two weeks or so and I still need to finish Sophie :p
And then there is the absolutely required time to be set aside for the second DS3 DLC, also in March.

And I really wouldn't be surprised if despite all the hemming and hawing Nier will release on Steam in March too.

And I should finish Trails 2nd (barely started) in preparation for 3rd -- it's probably a 100 hour game the way I play those :/

Really, there's no way I'll get all of this done.

I probably spent 10 hours just in the casino alone in SC. That poker minigamer is too addicting.

This new VA monitor just makes me realize how *great* my IPS screen is.
The BW contrast (something VA screens excel at) is only slightly better. Dell must have lucked out on a panel.

Not that the VA is anything to scoff at, really. Other than slight contrast loss when looking at wide angles, it's great. Colors maybe not as vibrant as IPS, but really, really close.
Tried Darksiders Warmastered, 100+ fps all the time, with nary a judder (single instance, most probably due to asset loading).

The fact that multiple monitors at the same time is an amazing QOL improvement (browse GAF while watching videos, look up a FAQ while playing) cannot be understated.

If it somehow doesn't crap out in the next few months, that may as well be best €480 I spent on a PC part.
