That IGN review has me a bit concerned. Very surprised to hear about the controller issues. Hoping they can patch that ASAP. Still though, I'm not backing out. Day one! I'll always support Nintendo.

Basically yes. There really isn't even anything to review. It's basically the hardware could be promising, if Nintendo does a whole bunch or right things going forward. On day one, it powers on and can play Zelda, that's it. It also may have hardware issues with the JoyCons.

Those are valid criticisms. Some Nintendo fans here need to take off the shades and realize the system isn't perfect and is a disappointment in ways that really could have been avoided.

See, the problem is that when someone points out a valid criticism and you have no valid response, you resort to a attempt at humor. A failed attempt and a flawed one, but what else can you possibly say?
Nothing I said was factually wrong.
I'll get mine on Friday (hopefully), and I will enjoy it for what it is because of a single game.
I already know all the things I can't do with it and obviously I can live with the shortcomings, but this device is far from acceptable in the state it's launching in.
It doesn't matter is they didn't launch with it. Those are established services and should have launched with the Switch.
The real online system doesn't launch until the fall.
Joycon issue is significant enough that multiple review sites have mentioned it.
Where is the 3rd party support? You know what the xbox one and ps4 launched with? Everything that was available that fall.
Switch is all about exclusives. PS4/Xbox had big 3rd party games. You can't just compare launch week exclusives.
LOL who cares what the PS3 did. It's not the PS4. The only reason PS3 did great is because it had 7 years to get it's act together. The ps2 was AMAZING, and that didn't trail into the ps3's launch. Conversley, the Gamecube was pretty lackluster and the Wii took off to epic proportions. The predecessor has nothing to do with the next system.

I expected 8/10's. Has flaws, but it's a great system...and it's a work in progress.

I don't get the issue with Launch games honestly, the only gripe I think is the lack of sports titles.
This is what I'm picking up in the first week. I don't plan to be buying anymore games until the summer most likely. This is way more then I expected to get a couple weeks ago.
Zelda - This game is going to occupy most of my time over the next 2-3 months
12Switch - This is my drinking game with friends
Snipperclips - this is my snipperclips and chill game
Fast RMX - my arcade racer
Blaster Master Zero - My 2D action platformer

At launch the PS4 had Battlefield 4, Madden, Call of Duty, Assassin's Creed 4. All games that sell more than the typical Zelda title.

Nor were they for me. What the hell are you arguing? You said "at launch" to my 3rd party on PS4 and Xbone comment implying there weren't any 3rd party games on those systems at launch. And there factually were many.

Below 70 is a D in the american grading system, which is basically a fail and you would most likely have to retake that class.
Which means Nintendo has to redo the Switch.
As for the criticism of there's only Zelda have those people not been paying attention? There's tons coming out and that Nindie Direct yesterday just reinforced that. Perhaps people think that only AAA budget retail games count? I'd rather have Shovel Knight 2 and Owl Boy over Assassin's Creed Egypt and Call of Duty 14, but I guess that's me.

The difference is people have different tastes and there was more variety on PS4 and Xbox One at launch. Not everyone cares about Zelda.

They do, but two of its best/biggest hits are coming out within a few months (Mario Kart 8 and Splatoon 2), both of which will likely kill a lot of their online action on Wii U. And *very allegedly* a new Xenoblade game this year.
There are plenty of Wii U games that will likely stay on Wii U, and if the console was cheap, I get it. But Nintendo hasn't really fire-saled anything so it feels a bit expensive to do some catching up, especially since it apparently wasn't worth it all these years to you.
It was 65 where I went to school way back in nineteen-dickity-four.
I don't think you should use the American education system as a benchmark.....

Nintendo is in a lot of trouble right now with their hardware. Follow me if you will...
1. Nintendo hasn't announced a solution for connectivity issue yet
so...
2. either they are scrambling for the major backup plan (recall/hardware replacement)
or
3. they are double confirming until last minute that a firmware update they have does fix it and they are still testing
BUT, if #3 was true...
they now missed the system review embargo date where if they announced yesterday they have a firmware fix, they could let reviewers test that fix and at least mention it in their reviews.
Which leads me to believe they DONT have a connectivity solution fix yet and they are in serious trouble

I didn't spend a dime on the switch after trading in my Wii U, but I'm concerned about the supposed portable power issues. I don't want to be playing this thing for like an hour or two before it needs to charge again.
I don't get these reactions at all. What did you expect them to say? Don't you already know enough about Switch to judge the system for yourself?

It will certainly be much cheaper than buying a Switch + the controllers that I want + the games when they come out during the years. Especially since I already own multiple Wii motes for couch co-op. And I don't play Nintendo games (even Mario Kart 8 or Splatoon) to play online.

It really does. Battlefield, Madden, Assassin's Creed, you know, the biggest games in the industry. Who cares? Now Snipperclips, there's a game for you.
Battlefield 4 was a completely unplayable broken mess at launch. Cod ghosts is without a doubt the worst call of duty game released to date. And both madden and assassins creed were available on 360/PS3.
Both the PS4 and xb1 had horrible launches.
