There's no way Horizon outsells Zelda. Like, both are going to do very well, and Horizon has been wonderfully marketed, but even though the PS4 install base is massive, this game won't necessarily appeal to everyone that owns the console.

Meanwhile, practically everyone that gets a Switch will be getting Zelda, and a reasonable proportion of Wii U owners will get it, too.

I think we should be looking to high numbers for both games, which is good stuff.
How much you want to bet?
Horizon gon do numbers breh

In the US, Zelda > Horizon, however i see the opposite in Europe. France and Germany will probably do well for Zelda, but i doubt Zelda will have legs in other countries.

They can't. The Switch hype is nowhere near the hype of the Wii, and it costs more. Even if they matched Wii sales, 95% of users would need to pick up Zelda. There'll be a very high attach rate, but it's not gonna happen.
Wasn't Wii heavily supply constrained at launch? If Xbox One and PS4 can launch at 150K and 250K respectively, I don't see why they can't hit 100K if they have the supply.

Was just about to post this, all the positivity has really helped Boost Horizon, should have a stellar first week, as will Zelda, but the latter appears to be supply constrained now so I take back what I said about Zelda being the top selling game next week!

Two massive games in one week and both seem to be on the way to great sales, what a time to be a gamer!

I think Horizon will be #1 SKU but Zelda #1 overall (Switch + Wii U).

I think Horizon will do NMS or U4 numbers (the hype for the game is real), and Zelda don't have a chance vs. a higher install base (the Wii U version won't add that mch to the total, that's my bet)

Considering Horizon looks to be outselling Zelda in Japan, i don't think it's that hard to guess what the situation in the uk will be.

where you read it?

Considering Horizon looks to be outselling Zelda in Japan, i don't think it's that hard to guess what the situation in the uk will be.

Sales points at a handful of big stores in the Japanese sales thread seem to indicate Horzion tops Zelda as an individual SKU, however i'll believe it when I see it myself.

If Switch supply numbers are low in Japan then that could make sense as Zelda really should be getting an 75% attachment rate at launch seeing as it's the only "big" game.

Horizon Zero Dawn beats Zelda to No.1

Critical smash hit The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild hasn’t made it to No.1 in its first week in the UK charts.

Instead, it’s Sony’s PS4 exclusive Horizon Zero Dawn that grabs the crown, beating Nintendo’s adventure title by a comfortable margin and becoming PS4’s biggest ever new IP launch in the process.

It’s also the biggest launch of the year so far and Sony’s biggest launch since Uncharted 4.

As for Breath of the Wild, 78 per cent of the game’s sales were for Switch and 22 per cent for Wii U. The Switch game ranks as the third biggest Zelda launch ever behind Wind Waker and Twilight Princess.

Breath of the Wild accounted for 75 per cent of all total Switch software sales for the week, with two others making the Top Ten – 1-2 Switch at No.4 and Super Bomberman R at No.7. The Switch version of Just Dance 2017 also sees that game re-enter the Top 40 at No.24, although Skylanders Imaginators misses out on a Top 40 spot despite the new Switch version.

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare also drops out of the Top 10, while Battlefield 1 clings on.

Here’s the UK Top 10 for the week ending March 4th:

1. Horizon Zero Dawn (Sony)
2. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (Nintendo)

Nothing unexpected, Horizon launched on a far bigger userbase.

How much Wind Waker and TP did ?

We basically have Horizon coming up on top in all the usual store rankings that we use weekly to guess what game sells the best that week. So not sure why this time should be different.

One can attach plenty of reasons to why Zelda was only no.2, but at the end of the day, Zelda, like many Nintendo franchises are franchises that punch above their weight class.

They sell exceptionally well despite their smaller install base and every time a big major Nintendo flagship releases, it's an event. It wasn't a sure-thing that Horizon would outsell Zelda earlier in the year if we look at Amazon charts or whatnot, and that speaks volume to the strength of the Zelda fanbase.

For Horizon to start out stronger than Zelda is no easy feat. Congrats to Horizon for a successful new IP debut in UK. Congrats to Zelda as well.

Now we wait for numbers >_>
