And the story is always interesting? It never feels like it's dragging to much?

Yep it's brilliant and the topics introduced and handled here are so grounded in reality and relate to real problems in Japanese society.
Remember how P4 gave you the impression of living in Japan? It's even more so here. P5 Tokyo is so similar to the real thing.
As for the plot, it's very well written. The story keeps you on your toes and has its memorable moments.
Also, the main villain here is probably my favorite in the entire series. It's so well done.

It drags in the way Persona games drag with the introduction of the social life system since 3: if you want to play as efficiently as possible by clearing dungeons as quickly as possible, you'll end up with a ton of spare time before the story picks up its pace again. And when it does, it's reaaally good.

I do have some problems with the plot, but I completely agree with Soulhouf here.

I do have some problems with the plot, but I completely agree with Soulhouf here.

It definitely has some pacing issues and the the coop which is completely out of sync with the story.
Example:
I had the event with Sadayo being hospitalized but next day in the main story she was teaching and as if nothing happened.

I understand that making it has an impact on the story would be so difficult as it is but c'mon, this is the 3rd game where they do it and still didn't figure out how to fix that issue.

On a different note, I've beaten the game.

I have a few complains such as the crappy dungeons, the childish animé clichés, all the modern Atlus BS with the characters who never shut up and will continue telling you what you should do and what you shouldn't. Yes I'm pointing my finger at you Morgana!

But it's one of the best new games I played in recent years. Like I said the story is well written and compelling and I love the villain in this game so much.

Another interesting fact that they went back to some of the bases introduced in P1 and they scrapped the hideous and endless palette swap shadows of P3&4 and put back Kaneko's design. Most of the new personas are still hideous though. I wonder who designed them because their main inspiration seems to be sticking geometrical forms together. Very uninspired but that's a small complaint compared to all the good things this game has.

I think P1&2 are still my favorites though but P5 is nevertheless a masterpiece. It had that weird love-hate-love effect of Deadly Premonition on me.
It left me with a very strong impression and I will gladly replay it when it comes out here.
What a beautiful game!

There was a location I unlocked that I never had a chance to go to which upset me

Motomachi Chukagai (Chinatown in Yokohama)

Are you able to walk around there or is it just like a restaurant or something?

I promised myself I'd bail from Persona stuff until release, but I do have one question for you guys/girls with game: Can you adjust the music volume in the game? I'm trying to turn them shits up and make the music louder than the sound effects. Thanks!

It's a social link only spot, you can't visit it on your own.

Is the hard difficulty a good choice for seasoned MegaTen players (I've played and finished virtually everything) or is it mainly for NG+?

The first two bosses are really tough in hard difficulty, and the difficulty becomes more managable for most of the rest of the game.

Sounds awesome. I finished Digital Devil Saga 2 on hard (first run) in 2016 and it was tough as shit. Really looking forward to the challenge.

I played on normal until the penultimate dungeon, where I bumped it to hard because it was getting too easy. There's probably something to be said for starting with hard.

Honestly, I'd say that on normal it wasn't much of a challenge, but at the same time I felt it was more punishing than P3/P4 if you made mistakes or didn't focus, if that makes sense.

So I've been meaning to ask this for a while - partially out of worry, partially just for clarification....

I've managed to be largely spoiler free when it comes to Persona 5, but some things have slipped through the cracks. Those being:

  • A piece of art depicting Makoto & Haru with different personas behind them.
(Milady? Had a gold guilotine blade for a head. And Makoto's Persona? was red and black with yellow eyes.)
  • The fact that they go to
    the US
at some point in the story.
  • The ESRB information that explained a portion where
a character is shot through the head, and blood splatters onto others.
How fucked/non fucked am I? Is this pretty minor, or should I be worried? Has too much been spoiled for me?

  1. Absolutely no bearing on the main story. More specific information:
They're their ultimate personas, and they're optional like they were in Persona 4.
  2. You could've picked up on that had you paid close enough attention to the official Japanese trailers, but it doesn't seem to factor majorly into the story.
  3. You should be fine as long as you have no other context. You're misremembering what the description actually said, which is better for you.
All in all, you're fine. Less than a month left.

Is this real?

I'd say you could make an educated guess about your first and second spoilers if you've played P3 and P4. I'd actually say those are not spoilers at all.
Third one: based on some trailers you can get an idea of the kind of imagery they were going for in this game. I'd say you lack the context to know when or why this happens and its importance or lack of importance. I think you're good as long as you keep your media blackout.

For those that have played the game, I have 2 questions.

1. Are the teachers in this game funny characters like in P4 or are they just normal?

2. What is this game's Yoshitsune and Trumpeter? Aka, broken as shit Personas.

ULTROS!

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.
Questions:

1. How long/hard is the platinum compared to P4?
2. Is the game much meatier than P4?
3. Will I get attached to the characters and have separation anxiety towards the end?

1. One of them is a confidant and she's the best teacher character in the whole series.

2. Still Yoshitune lol

2. What is this game's Yoshitsune and Trumpeter? Aka, broken as shit Personas.

1. Teachers look kind of normal this time.
2. There are some personas that you can get early on that are immune to physical attacks, yes; but you have to fuse them sooner or later to get more powerful ones.

2. Is the game much meatier than P4?
3. Will I get attached to the characters and have separation anxiety towards the end?

1. Don't know, I didn't play Golden.
2. There are a lot of things to do, lots of places to visit, many activities, I didn't get to see all of them during my first playthrough tbh. The game is super long. The longest Persona I've played and the best of all is that you don't feel the length of it. There are 3 confidants that can help you to save time to see all the game has to offer if you don't neglect them like I did. To help you understand how long the game is: in an interview Hashino or Soejima revealed one of the confidants was supposed to be part of the phantom thieves but the game was getting so long they had to cut that content :/
3. In my opinion characters are much better than P4's but you must know I consider P4's the worse entry in the series.

So, while looking for assets for a thread, I came across a curious cut-in, then later that night, came across an unfortunate sentence.

I now know that
Goro betrays the party
. How fucked am I? There are other twists.... right?

It pains me to see people getting spoiled this close to release, but fortunately I wouldn't consider that a huge spoiler. I wouldn't worry about your experience being hindered by it too much, it's actually pretty easy to see coming, and not treated like a huge twist anyway. There's a lot more you could've been spoiled on but weren't, so just be careful not to spoil anything more.

wouldn't have been better if you asked us to provide you with spoiler free pictures rather than searching them by yourself?

That's a twist but fortunately it's both a pretty obvious twist you can see coming hours away and also a pretty minor one in the grand scheme of things.

It pained me to see it - but I'm really glad to hear it's rather obvious, not massive, and won't hinder the experience too much.

Knowing there are other, bigger spoilers out there, could you maybe help with the request below?

The post above the one you just replied to was originally a request for English Screenshots (1080p), Gifs, and spoiler-free assets for a thread.

A request that went unanswered.

So I had to look for them myself - and we know how that ended.

So, again: If anyone who has played the game would like to help me out in gathering HD Screenshots & gifs for it, it'd be very, very much appreciated. I rather not see any other/bigger spoilers if possible.

Is there a loot system in these games and if so how does it work?

Somewhat. Enemies drop items when you beat them, and throughout the dungeons there are small treausres you can "steal". The dropped stuff is mostly used for crafting items like lockpicks and antidotes, which can be done at a table in your room, and the treasures can be sold to a vendor for cash.

I'll do my best to help, but I'm not exactly sure what sort of images you're looking for. The line between non-spoilery screenshots and spoilery ones is pretty blurry and many people would have different classifications for what's what.

First off, thank you very much in advance!

If I were to put general guidelines on screenshots...

  • 1080p+ Please.
  • English Screenshots are greatly preferred over Japanese Screenshots.
  • I'd consider gameplay screenshots (outside of bosses) from all dungeons shown in English Trailers to be fair game.
  • School Life & Overworld Screenshots from general, non-story scenes are preferred. (Story Scenes can be used if non-specific. [i.e: No Reveals/Important Names Used/Included])
  • UI Menu Screenshots of most main shops & menus would be appreciated to show off the UI.
  • Screenshots of animated (Anime) portions used in trailers are fair game. (No Unrevealed Events/Characters please)
  • My Previous Screenshot Gallery for NieR: Automata's OT has 96 Images, so 80 total for Persona 5 should be fine.
If I were to put general requirements on GIFs...

  • Higher Quality (Resolution/Length) GIFs Prefered.
  • 'Rules/Requirements' for Screenshots carry over. (Gameplay/School Life/Menu GIFs Needed)
  • My Previous GIF Gallery for NieR: Automata's OT has 40 Files, so 30 total for Persona 5 should be fine.
I wish Atlus had a press site like Square Enix does - I wouldn't have needed to worry about spoilers if I could get the majority of my assets from that...

Feel free to compile everything in an Imgur album and link it either here or in a PM.

Anyway, thank you again, and if anyone else would like to help, please let me know.

I'll try to help too. I'm not very good at this but maybe I can get something useful but mostly during night time.

Thank you very much, either PM me the results or post a link to the album here.

Maybe you two could split things up? One does GIFs, the other does Screenshots?

Again, if anyone else wants to help gather them, it'd be very much appreciated, and whoever does will get a special thank you in the thread once it goes live.

I'll try for screenshots, since I'm clueless on how to go about finding gifs.

you can also pick up "dirty clothes" that you need to put in the washing machine to identify/turn into real gear

i don't think there's like RNG stats on gear tho if that's what you're asking about

It's a shame i only have the JPN version and my capture card i can't get 1080p screenshots with it.

It's trully a shame that this game prevented share options.

Here's what I've got so far. Finding English screenshots that aren't poorly compressed or watermarked due to being video screencaps is kinda tough with the game not out yet, so there are quite a lot of Japanese ones in there too. I tried to limit it to stuff mostly from the first three dungeons, and the exceptions to those are very minor cases.

So do people still like this game now that it's had some time to stew?

Freaking love it. Been making my way through a New Game ++ from all the excitement that's been drumming up in advance of the western release, and I'm still in love. It still feels fresh, I'm still making new discoveries and finding connections, and I'm still getting impacted just as much by the big story stuff. Back at launch when I was playing, while I was loving it, I was definitely mindful of how I'd feel in a few months time, but I can safely say my opinions haven't changed much at all.
