Mass Effect Andromeda Graphical Downgrade

:/

Hahaha! Over the last week I've gone from being hyped for Andromeda, to deciding to wait for a price drop, to suddenly wanting to buy it again for the comedy gold thanks to this thread =P

Hopefully no one will come in here (again) and tell the guys that subconsciously we have our ideal woman against which Bioware can't compete therefore all of the criticisms are actually coming from a place of bias and thus are invalid.

Honestly, if it wasn't for my roommate (who really wants to play this game) I'd have cancelled the preorder and picked it up sometime next year after perhaps multiple patches and DEEP discount.

As a ME fan, I have to wonder what in the world were they doing for 5 years? Is EA planning to make better character animations and better hair choices payable DLC?

Increasingly I worry that it's been through troubled development. New studio with a new engine, the ongoing departures by various positions, the weird, unclear and quiet marketing, the re-use of animations from ME1-3, the incredibly poor facial animation, and the long development time, the shoddy character creator. But the game hasn't been released, but there have been a couple of worrying warning signs.

Man I've been watching a stream of the game for the last hour and the eyes are just fucked. They don't look right and they don't move right.

Why can't bioware update their animation? It's pathetic that they are barely better than little european studios.

Guerilla Games is not "little" and employs hundreds of people, both in the Netherlands and in China.

CDProjekt RED is likewise comparatively big and huge with hundreds of people working on Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk.

I hope the reviews are just, especially EasyAllies one.

Those eyes are freaking me out.

see, the face there looks fine to me

the problem is the eyes. I don't know how they fucked them up, considered all of the preview things dating from months back had really good eyes.

I mean I hate to be too picky but the face is like plastic ..... shiny , no lines to speak of, kind of bloated too, meh.

kinda looks like a crazy botox obsession.

As a ME fan It's really disappointing to see BioWare's facial animation technique gone backwards, not saying it's bad or anything but It just doesn't seem as natural or convincing as previous games.
I don't know if this is a budget problem or just them simply not understanding the engine well enough.
I would be lying If I say I am just as excited about Andromeda as I was about ME3 back in 2012. That makes me kinda sad.

Still day 1 though.

Game looks like a mess. RPS took the preview to the woodshed.

Aside from shiniobi's preview, I haven't seen a positive one yet. And shinobi is not what I'd call credible.

Still, early days yet. Maybe in a year with all the dlc and patches it'll be a good game. Buying this day one would be silly.

There are more positive previews than negative ones, though.

You're basically only caring about what confirms your bias.

Hello, my name is Yves Guillemot, Vivendi S.A.'s Employee of the Month!
so remove the euro studios part from my post. it's still pathetic that a AAA studio owned by EA still uses shit animation.
Based on some comments from insiders i'm thinking this game had really troubled development and we're now seeing the results of it come to light. Some of this animation is blatantly unfinished whether it's that gif that Lime posted or stuff like really bad motion capture cleanup that looks like the guys barely had anytime to even get this remotely cleaned up to what I assume an animator would deem ideal:
The joints are popping and jittering all over the place, they have the mocap sausage arm thing going on, like...whoever did this scene certainly did not have enough time for it.

Maybe they bit off more than they can chew in the time allotted for development?

I only pay attention to the people I like, not the whole enthusiast industry. Shrug.

I hope it's a great game out the blocks as a lot of people's livelihoods depend on it, buzz doesn't seem great however.

Who actually says 'my face is tired'...? I mean the only time I can think of when somebody might say that is when their muscles have gone slack...after a stroke...

Robots wearing a layer of flayed human skin say stuff like that.
Took me a second but what the fuuuuuuuuuuuu....

It took me a couple of watches too as I was concentrating on animation quality, not the completely lack of it.
