oh my :lol

This is the worst I've seen yet -> https://webmshare.com/Dm0Nz

i can't even. How that voice acting got a pass by anyone is beyond me.
And "my face is tired" what the fuck does that even mean. Even in context it sounds hilariously odd and out of place, not anything ive ever heard an actual person say.

Lol that pause before......"pathfinder" is amazing.

What has me baffled is some of the dialogue. At times some of what I have watched sounds alright, but then there is stuff like this:

That literally sounds like some cheap text-to-speech type of deal. I mean, what the hell?

oh my :lol

For a game that is supposed to be an epic and immersive adventure, this is a dealbreaker for me. I am hoping this is an outlier, but it is not looking good so far.

For those interested, A Youtuber named xletalis did a comparison yesterday contrasting ME1 to Andromeda.

They certainly most likely did, but something must have gone wrong during development

Just how ...

How can anyone take the story seriously with these animations...

Bioware diehards are pretty crazy when it comes to defending their games.

I mean I like Bioware games but these god awful faces and animations are a real immersion killer, I don't know how I'll be able to take the game seriously.

I do not understand how they have gotten worse. A 5 year dev cycle and one of the biggest devs in the industry and this is the quality we get? the fuck.

Gonna try the trial when I get home from work, but I am not optimistic to say the least.

This is facial animations in current gen.

ME:A just shows lazy devs.

For a game that relies on character interaction and storytelling. This is one big failure. I watched the opening 6 hours on a a couple of streams, and I do not care at all about any of the characters.

I'm actually wondering what the end of the story in this game is. I hope it's just a walled off, clear cut end. That way, they can wait several years and start clean with a different entry, hopefully with their A-team developing. This is embarrassing. I was excited to buy and play it after seeing one of my favorite streamers play through the first trilogy recently. At this point I may just watch her play through it and save my cash.

NPC: "Your father... is dead "
FemRyder: :)))))))

It's awful; just so bad. Addison seems incapable of emoting and Ryder constantly looks like she's verging on that fucking grin. If there was one thing Bioware needed to get right it was fucking character faces, and they've totally fucked it. How can these characters be less expressive than faces were last gen?!

Nope. Just bad project management.

This. "Lazy devs" is silly. What, people think animators just kick about at work 4 hours a day, go home, get paid?

Management should absolutely take responsibility. If this has actually been in development 5 years, then serious questions need to be asked about the development milestones, and the quality approval process that let nonsense like "My face is tired" through multiple stages of development with no-one asking what in the actual fuck it means.

No doubt there's some on the dev team for whom (ah hah! :p ) this was their first project. But in that case, those animators were fundamentally let-down by senior staff - this is embarrassing for all concerned.

The craziest thing is how easy this would have been to fix. All they had to do was darken the iris and increase the iris size. That's all I've done to the following image and she all of a sudden doesn't look completely insane.

It's just like one of my japanese animes!

If the game tanks in reviews on Monday and general player feedback will be negative, sales might dive, and it may cause considerable damage to the brand. Who knows what EA will choose to do - probably give it another shot like they did with DA:I after DA2?

If game development has been rough and there's something rotten going on in Montreal this might also deter EA from allowing them to head another major project.

If it bombs, I would be incredibly worried about Mass Effect as a brand.

The ME3 ending (which was bad) did a lot of damage despite the game not actually being bad because it became meme status and now pretty much everyone (including those who didn't play it) think it's terrible.

Another entry with that reputation could seriously end it, for now.

GiantBomb is a huge fan of the series and they are not digging this game from what I can tell. They were frequently pointing out the facial animation and writing and how hammy it is.

One thing they pointed out earlier in the stream is that people pull out their scanner and interact with it without even looking at it. I figured it was just an out of cutscene idle animation and would give it a pass, but then later in the stream in a cutscene:

Was thinking this would be my first ME game but i not so certain any more.
I was not expecting UC level animation but this behind HZD or TW3 and they have problems to begin with .

Sometimes the scanner doesn't activate and they're tapping their arm lmao. That's happened twice in my playthrough so far.

None has ever said: "Sorry, my face is tired...". Who the hell writes this?

I actually don't know who the writers are for this game except for the Halo 4 guy (whose only written work is Halo 4) and that Mac 'shit the bed so bad we had to go to another galaxy' Walters is the creative director.

It still a strong brand I think, but if they hand it over to inexperienced studios with bad project management and a lack of a unique identity, then you're most likely right.

After playing an hour-ish of the trial, I think this is maybe a bit overblown:
- the animations aren't great, especially the facial animations. (the scene on the bridge is absurd).
- Cora's model seems to be bugged somehow.
- there's a few other oddities, eyes 'roaming' around the room etc.
- the default Female Ryder face looks weird, and makes everything worse.

However, the 'run up stairs' gif seems to be a bug (which I couldn't replicate) and IMHO different female face options look better during animations.

It's clearly something that Bioware have to get to grips with, but I strongly suspect that the UI is actually going to be more of an annoyance in the medium/long-term.

I'm glad you made this thread. It's light hearted. Too much drama lately with all the Zelda stuff and the racist YouTubers.

Nothing brings people together like some laughably bad animations. And holy hell, does this deliver.

Man, Andromeda Galaxy's environment sure fucks you up..

But seriously, what happened to Bioware? Even ignoring the abysmal animations and writing, there seems to be a whole lot of glitches, bugs, etc.

What. The. Hell.

I'll try the trial later this day, but even though I'm having a laugh at some gifs, I'm actually kinda sad to see this happening to the franchise.

Yeah, looks like this might be the end of the franchise, which is a huge bummer for me. Maybe they could give it a rest for a whole gen while focusing on thir A team new IP, then try again later after they've regain their good image as video games developers. Andromeda might haunt their reputation for years.

That "my face is tired" clip is actually unbelievable. I cannot believe it's in the game.

I've played a couple of hours of the trial, the eyes are so off-putting, like two little robots puppetting a corpse.

Also holy shit I can't wait for the crowbcat video on this one.

Muscle memory brah

Is it just me or does she look half baked?

It's almost as if the game set out intentionally to be meme bait xD

Think along the lines of the glitch articles you'd get accompanying Skyrim upon release and afterwards.

Part of me wants this to be widespread for humor related reasons. Then the other half, not so much. If only they added an option at the menu screen to enable "jank".
