Nintendo switch UK price £279.99

I'm happy waiting on Amazon also, although hoping the 31st is an overestimate like it was with the pro controllers.

My copy of Zelda and pro controller are now on the way so i'm going to be sat looking at them for 2 weeks if the 31st does turn out to be correct, but I still have Horizon to finish so....

Joycons seemed ok (never really play with them outside of cradle or in portable mode) - but I did notice one playing up the other day, and it felt laggy when I was far from the screen playing 1-2 Switch. So just incase, I contacted Amazon...

1st Amazon offered me replacement console (no thanks, I'd lose my saves)

2nd Amazon offered me 15% refund (I mentioned this wouldn't be enough to get a
replacement set of joy cons, but ok if that's all they can offer)

3rd Finally offered me £70 to get a new set. Yipee!

I've tried twice no luck so far.
First time they offered £40, then I requested £70, came back and just referred me to Nintendo.
Second time just referred me to Nintendo straight away.

Both myself and my friend are having massive issues with our Neon left Joy Con. He's sat a bit further away than me, at around 6ft from his dock, whereas I'm probably sat 2-3ft away from mine.

He bought a second set of grey-cons and uploaded a video of him testing the two out in the same conditions. The difference is night and day. With the grey one, he can put his dock inside a closed wooden entertainment centre and it still works perfectly, without a hiccup, the Neon one will not even connect to the system.

We've both been on the phone with Nintendo and are sending our Joy-Cons back. I think it's a bit of a piss take that I'll be without my Joy-Cons for 3-10 working days. I even offered to buy a new set, and have them refund me when they get mine. No dice. I understand they can't just send out new ones to everyone on good faith, but really, it's their shitty manufacturing and now I have to wait potentially 10 days to get my shit back that should've been working in the first place? Man, that sucks.

If the save for Zelda could be transferred off the system, I would 100% be returning my switch and waiting for all this bullshit to be sorted out.

Out of my friends, 6 of us bought them and only 2 of us have had no issues whatsoever. Some of us have bent docks, I and one other have a dodgy left con. My right Joy Con also makes a horrible grinding sound sometimes on the analog stick too. QC FTW.

Let us know how you get on. I'm going through the same process with sending mine back, just waiting on the shipping labels. They said they've got a repair service, but I full expect them to throw them in the bin and send new ones out.

You should secretly mark them to see if you get the same ones back :)

Just got my physical copy of I am satsuma and my BoI has bee dispatched :).

Shame that I've ended up importing both. I will probably have BoI before it even releases digitally here.

I've just decided to send my system back. It's being collected next Friday, and I'll pick up another when they sort it out. Bye Zelda save >:|

definitely Amazon. wouldn't trust anywhere else. at a push maybe tesco. had bad experiences with GAME + Argos. Amazon have always replaced or refunded items no hassle. They once even offered a full refund of £460 on my old laptop after 2 years because Acer wouldn't deal with it but luckily i fixed it and didn't need to return it. and they replaced my 3DS XL twice because of a faulty analog stick/dead pixels.

i'll happily wait until the end of the month and know Amazon will sort anything out should it happen instead of going to the likes of GAME, argos, tesco, smyths, etc.

Yeah that seems like a sensible bet.

I haven't been following this stuff too closely - but is the joycon issue across grey and neon machines?

My friend and I both have Neons and the ones in our group with no issues are Grey. I wouldn't say that is conclusive, though.

Considering buying a Switch Pro Controller even though I only play my Switch in Handheld or Tabletop mode (I don't own a TV). Can't see myself playing Splatoon 2 with the Grip. Is anyone else in a similar situation ?

I've just been referred to Nintendo and to go back to Amazon if there's no luck with Nintendo.

I know I have the right to return them to Amazon so I will wait and see. I've sent them a follow up email saying that I don't want to be without them and why can't they ship replacement left Joy Cons for my 2 sets.

This makes it sound like Amazon is the place to go for Switches. Anyone have any experience dealing with refunds etc with anyone else?

Amazon CS usually very helpful as long as you are super polite and don't try and railroad them into a decision.

I never once mentioned a refund until they already offered me a partial refund, and even then I didn't outright ask for £70 I just said "I don't think 15% will cover the cost to replace the controller, it that all you are authorised to offer right now? (Think they retail for 69.99 currently on Amazon)" or something like that and they made the decision themselves.

I just railroaded, got a supervisor to end the chat on me.

Lmao I find being polite usually helps. Even if you don't get anywhere with one supervisor, try again with another and be nice to them too.

Being nice is good! :)

Amazon customer support is bizarre, tried a fair few reps before one offered me something towards replacement Joy-Cons. I got a tonne of "contact Nintendo sorry" before one rep offered me £10 credit. I said it doesn't really come close to the £70 a pair costs and after going to his supervisor a couple of times, came back with £56 gift credit.

I think it depends how much money you spend with them on the regular. And how regularly you return stuff.

At the end of the day, you can always return it. Even though at this point in time, that makes the situation inconvenient.

But, it's all logged. I've usually had stellar customer service from amazon, especially when I was blowing insane amounts of money on them when I got my first high paying job. Like once a console didn't arrive overnight like I had paid for, so they just sent me another one, free of charge. Bozos just sent me two, lol.

I do start that way, but once brickwalled I end up a bit matter of fact... Guess the lesson is just quit and try again. They arent backing down once they quote policy.

I was refused on the live chat and by a supervisor. They both directed me to Nintendo. I guess I'll start another live chat and have another go

I can't stomach losing my Zelda save so I'm just sending the Joycons back. anyone seen this and tried it?

Man, I know. I've flip-flopped twice already on this. Raised a ticket for JoyCons, cancelled and raised a ticket for a refund. I really don't want to send it back, I like the system for what it is, just I know how annoyed I'll be if I get either a new set of defective Joy-Cons or if Nintendo tells me "you're holding it wrong".

Tried again and was denied anything other than 'contact Nintendo'
My first two were pushing me to Nintendo but the third guy on chat asked if I wanted a partial refund to which I replied yes please. They initially offered me £45 but I told them you can't buy a singular neon joycon and asked for £69.99 and he agreed. This was only about an hour ago.

Keep trying!!!

First rep said that they can't offer partial refunds for the Switch.
Second gave me £70 straight back to my bank.

I've ordered a replacement set of Joy-Con, so I'll just keep the original pair as a spare.

The left one is fine when connected anyway, and the right was ok. At least now I'm set up for 3-player Mario Kart :)

i'm tempted to just cancel my order now. reading all this is putting me off. i really want to play zelda and i've already paid £100 towards the switch. i guess i could always just spend it on something else or keep it there until later.

Picked up my switch earlier, and I think it has problems with the left joycon. It disconnected a couple of times while I was using it in TV mode with the controller adapter.
I was sat about 2 meters away and the dock was partially blocked by a brick wall, but I'm assuming it's the same problem everyone else is having.
I will try that disconnecting the joycon solution and see if it works.

It's weird, the blue left joycon that came with my console has issues but the red left joycon I bought separately doesn't, I can use it behind my back with no issues.

I've been finally trying my alternate set this evening and doing them gripless (which seemed to be the way the originals desynced most easily), got a desync after a few minutes and was thinking here we go again but then nothing for a few hours, then again only got like 1 or 2 desyncs a day normally with the originals (apart from when i played gripless and got a few straight after each other)

My orzly screen protectors came today and well I destroyed the first one(same as I destroyed the Nintendo one ;_: ) but I managed the get the second one mostly straight(it's ever so slightly uneven but you can't tell if you don't look really close) and I managed to get the one corner bubble out without messing it up! YAY!

It was really satisfying to snap the first protector.

Yeah - mine is on too. It's good, only one speck of dust in the corner which I'm fine with. The kids will scratch it soon enough.

In other news, anyone looking at a Car Mount? Any links?

For another AC adapter?, any reason you couldn't just use the one that comes with the console?

Please don't tell me there's a separate charger to charge the console itself in the box.

Edit: I'm an idiot. Thought the handheld required a separate charger and could only charge in the dock. £27 quid saved if they accept my return.

The charger that came with the system is the charger and can charge the console both in and out of the dock, so you didn't need to buy another charger.

My only problem with it is that the cable is quite short.
