Honestly, what does Microsoft need to do with Scorpio to solidify your purchase?

Hey guys,

Time and time again I see the constant theme with Scorpio is that most people are in the wait and see mindset and are genuinely excited to see what exactly it is. I am curious as to what people are really waiting for. I get it, most people will say games and rightfully so but even that seems like a poor excuse.

In terms of games, what would push you over the edge and make you a day one adopter? Even if Microsoft has a killer E3 with new IP's announced are you willing to risk buying a console and said IP's day one without any previous history of these new titles? And, is it realistic to think that Microsoft will sell their new console to the masses using unproven software that may not market that well?

in terms of hardware, we know it will be more powerful that is a given, and so is more than likely a premium price tag. With the associated cost what are we really gaining? we can watch 4K movies with the One S currently so they cant really tout that feature as "new". I feel they should have left 4K for Scorpio as many people would purchase for that reason alone.

For me? I need Microsoft to take a gamble. I need them to have a too good to be true reveal with the system to make me a buyer. I want them to swallow the cost of the system big time, have this thing release at a price point that makes it a no brainier purchase, even if the software is lacking. They need to move hardware and have people excited for the system again and yes games are a huge part of it but I expect to see 80% standard tried and true xbox exclusives and 20% new IP. This is why the hardware needs to be the main appeal.

More interesting exclusives than what they have now. One I was really interested in was cancelled earlier this year.

I feel like Halo just doesn't do it for me as an exclusive anymore.

At this point, for me, nothing. I don't want to pay another subscription and I have more games than time as is.

Just pricing, for me. I've always preferred Xbox for multi-platform console titles and would be happy to pick up a Scorpio just for Red Dead 2, Destiny 2, etc. But I couldn't justify spending $500 for just a half-step console iteration. Even if it does play 4K movies or w/e.

Games!!!

It can have all the power in the world, be sexy as and it means nothing without first party games.

Sony is killing it just now and Microsoft are resting on the main franchises too much. A recore every other year isn't going to be good enough.

Not much. Just let the price be right and I'm sure it will be a good console, just like the Xbox One currently is.

I like MS's big IPs so I'll buy one for those, but I would like more new IPs too - I do hope though that they don't just go with the same cinematic action/adventure 3rd person style of stuff that Sony has nailed.

Honestly I don't see myslef buying one I'd rather just wait for PS5. If there would be some amazing new exclusive I would want to play I would just upgrade my PC.

I dont know.

I have a PC and a PS4 and feel really good about the games I have access to.

If I had or was planning on getting a 4K TV I could see myself getting a Scorpio but I am not anywhere near upgrading TVs. I dont think I will be until well into the next real cycle.

There's nothing they can do at this point.

They've just lost it on the bone, where was all that pep and great exclusives they had on the 360?

Literally games, although truth be told with all 1st party exclusives going PC only I'm probably not going to buy one regardless.

I haven't turned on my OG Xbox one in months since I got a PS4 Pro and now that I have a Switch there's even more competition for my time.

Just release it.

I don't have a PC, so now most of my 3rd party gaming will be done on Scorpio and not on Pro. That alone is a big plus for me.

Hoping for some solid 1st party announcements. Maybe some good will towards MCC.

I think sadly I'm done with Xbox this gen. They have do exceptionally well with software to impress me enough to buy the Scorpio.

There's really nothing about the Xbox brand that appeals to me, not sure what Microsoft can do at this point short of a total overhaul.

Launch with Banjo Threeie. And make it be an adventure/platformer like the first two and not like nuts and bolts. I would have bought an Xbox 1 just for that game.

If all 1st party games are still going to PC, then I have no reason to own one

Yeah my htpc, already connected to my tv, is already more powerful than Scorpio

If all exclusives come to pc there is no reason for me to get a scorpio

I paid good money for this Dynex!
Frankly, I don't think they can. I'm only interested in exclusives, I don't like any of Microsoft's first party offerings, and I'm primarily looking for Japanese-developed stuff, since Western devs always put their stuff on PC.

So, I suspect it's too late. They've been losing content I care about for years, and I don't see them coming back.

Microsoft needs to fund and publish unique software.

New fucking IP. I've been an MS fan from day one and by Christ, I see nothing NEW. Where is the new franchise like gears, fable, halo? Where is any risk taking?

OG Xbox backwards compatibility.

I am buying it regardless and the above would come to vanilla Xbox One too but I am going to keep banging this drum in any tangentially related topic until it happens.

Every game is rendering in native 4K, including X360 BC and older games from the gen that were made before Scorpio. I'd buy that at whatever price, assuming it has a UHD BR player since Sony dropped the ball on that.

If it's just a MS PS4 Pro then I don't really see any reason. I'd just pick up a S as a 4K BR player.

More console exclusives not named Halo, Gears, & Forza. i'm looking forward to State of Decay, they need more like that and I would love a Fable reboot.
