What a fucking year its been, hell, from November 2016.
Not only have the games been good, they also didny bomb.
Ffxv probably outsold 13 ww despite the japan slump, tlg came and did well, re7 came out on a humble budget and did great, nioh came out did great, even berseria did decent and now a yoko taro game and a persona game both doing this well.

I gotcha. It's just so great to see so much success on Ps4. I hope BotW is a good indicator that the Switch is going to have some high quality games (especially RPGs) that will get some decent sales.

That's huge, good job to the dev team, the presentation is top notch, story has me hooked, the combat is more fluid than ever and I love wandering around and taking the atmosphere in (though I wish the core gameplay of daily life freedom came in earlier on. It takes a while to get there.)

I'm thinking of adding to that number. Got bored of ME:A already. I really want a different RPG and not just shooting people in the face all night. Never played a Persona game before though.

I definitely recommend it, it's very unique so I won't bother telling you it's like X or similar to Y.

I think it's safe to assume the game won't tank at those 1.5 shipped units though, unless it gets some terrible word of mouth going for it. 2m lifetime after discounts and whatnot seems like a reasonable bet. Lets not go crazy now. P5 is probably my goty so far but if xv proves anything, ff's popularity has certainly only grown outside of japan and it was already among the very few japanese games that non gamers are expected to know about in the west.
7 remake is the next mainline FF.
Ill be shocked if it doesnt outsell the entire persona franchise in record time.

No. Even though many people consider FF15 mediocre, or decent for a FF game, it still sold gangbusters for a JRPG. FF16 would have to be a bigger fuck up than FF14's original release to give way for Persona 6 to surpass it in sales and recognition.

Japan is slowly realizing they don't need to exclusively depend on a Japanese audience anymore.

I'm still hesitant to not call them 'niche' though. They are certainly still only appealing to a group of audience.... it's just that audience is now 1 million plus strong lol
