Actually, Duke Nukem in 2017 seems lame as shit in general.
Why does anyone still care about Duke Nukem? Talk about a relic of a bygone age.

The same could be said about Doom prior to the reboot.
There's nothing wrong with the character of Duke Nukem, just the way he's been portrayed since Duke Nukem Forever.
The delivery of voice lines and all around characterization of Duke since DNF has been extremely different than his original portrayal and in my opinion waaaaay worse than the original. He seems like a joke taken too seriously now whereas he was just a joke in general in 3d.
Doomguy didn't have any character prior to Doom 2016 and Serious Sam isn't so serious. Duke Nukem is just a fucking asshole I don't want to ever see again. I feel embarrassed that I had a slight fondness for him growing up.Well, I think Duke's cool, just like Doomguy and Serious Sam.
It's just Gearbox being fools and mismanaging the franchise
Borderlands 3 will surely clear our good name!
Accurate.Looks like Gearbox finally delivered a good game with Duke in it
Oh hang on its DLC? I thought it was all packaged in on the disc?Accurate.
Really weird that Duke DLC costs more than I paid for the original game.

lol While you joking I'll be copping BL3 on day one. Don't really see Destiny as a competitor when BL3 won't require an online connection to play.Borderlands 3 will surely clear our good name!

I'm not really getting the hostility towards this, it's a harmless mode intended to add value to an overpriced remaster, it isn't meant to be a full on Duke Nukem remake. Gearbox aren't going to bring all of the voice crew back in to make the script specific to Duke Nukem. You can argue that Duke shouldn't even be in this but I don't see the harm, seems like Gearbox are aware of this too judging from this Destructoid quote:
"While this might be initially funny (with Duke asking, ”Who the hell is Grayson?"), it becomes a big problem later down the line. Like I said, Duke has a huge ego, so he would never stand for not being addressed by his actual name."
If they called the entire game "Bulletstorm: Duke Nukem edition" I might see an issue but as it is there's hardly anything wrong with this. I have a problem with the pricing of the game though
I wasn't aware of that until just now, apparently all copies come with a code for a limited time though. It also costs money so... yeah.
While all of Graysons lines are redubbed
He's only an asshole in the most recent games though like I said ¯\_(ツ_/¯
Alot of games change the way their characters are characterized between entries but the difference between how Duke is portrayed in Duke 3d and Duke Nukem Forever is one of the biggest I'm aware of. The closest example I can think of is the portrayal of Frank West from Dead Rising 1 to Dead Rising 4.
Uh. Yikes. That is pretty rough. Is this a fucking joke? It looks shockingly awful.
Gearbox doing something half assed... who'd have thought?

Duke was always portrayed as the dude you still love regardless of his lame one liners and crude humor. A game nowadays just needs to throw him under the buss without trying to justify him.
I 100% agree that Duke in Forever is literally "Asshole, the character" but he doesn't come across that way in 3d. In 3d he comes across as a cheesy action movie hero that makes bad puns while kicking ass, like Roddy Piper in They Live or Ash in Evil Dead but in Forever they intentionally made him as unlikable as possible.
But it doesn't add value. It's a extra Dlc you have to pay for. There is no value added to the remaster whatsoever. If it was included by default I'd agree with you.I'm not really getting the hostility towards this, it's a harmless mode intended to add value to an overpriced remaster, it isn't meant to be a full on Duke Nukem remake. Duke Nukem is the guy from Duke Nukem 3D.
The one from Duke Nukem forever is known as Douche Nukem
If by that you mean overpriced, under-developed, and undetailed then yes!Gearbox gon' Gearbox?
Should've put #DukeInBattleborn
The said thing is they could have easily just went full joke dub with this but instead they half ass it and sometimes have Duke act out of character to avoid being clever with the script.
