The “event series” — Fox’s words — will air during the 2017-2018 season. Production is slated to begin this summer.

Edit - Hope it's not about those new agents. Those guys did not work for me at all.

Let's do this again

Please wrap this shit up with a proper conclusion finally because who knows if we're ever going to get something after it

Great news, that cliffhanger would've been an outright atrocity to end on. 10 episodes this time hopefully leads to better material and pacing overall too.

Really happy with this.

I just hope we get more of the monster of the week episodes as the mythology ones were pretty damn bad in season 10.

Real talk, when was the last time the mythology ones were actually good? Season 4 maybe?

I just want them to finally put a dagger in that dumbass self indulgent plot line and go back to hunting weird cases and reviving the series every couple years to hunt more weird cases until both characters are old enough to retire.

Yeah, they'd be smart to drop the mytharc stuff, stick to clever MotW eps, but have the season arcs be character-based rather than conspiracy based.

After not hearing anything about more episodes for over a year I assumed Fox wasn't interested in more X-Files episodes.

...Is Fox going to try to use those new agents again? I didn't really like them tbh.

exactly. The monster of the week episodes were so much better compared to the mythology ones last season.

The episode were Mulder gives his conspiracy speech was one of the most laughable things I've seen. It was like a parody of the X-Files.

Wish it was bigger seasons like the older seasons, but can't complain too much. Season 10 did end on a cliffhanger, so its nice to see them further the story.

I have been marathoning the series with two friends and currently in the middle of season 6. There's still good mythology episodes at this point, but there is a few stumbles starting in Season 5. However at this point some are very good, and some.are eh. But there's certainly some very good ones.

I personally really liked the first X-Files movie (the one with cornfields, terrorist bombs, and hidden tankers), which is basically a high-budget more cinematic mythology episode that takes place between Season 5's ending and Season 6's beginning.

Ugh, as much as I used to want this, that little season they made recently sucked out all my enthusiasm for the series.

A few good episodes with a terrible over-arching story that did everything it could to screw with the older season's plot.

If they're able to make enough quality episodes and improve the main plot line then I'm on-board.

10 is better than 6 but if Carter is still involved I have no faith in this being any good. Given the last scene of the season the whole
mytharc being a lie
better be just another fake out, though at this point I'm not sure it could be resolved with any proper depth/closure anyway.

Those shitty d-grade agents better not be back either.

I thought it was done.

It is.

And yet they keep churning out liquid shit after liquid shit anyway.

That last 'season' honestly had some of the worst written TV I've ever seen and I have no reason to believe that this will be any different.

On the one hand, yay for more X-Files

On the other hand, last season was generally pretty bad, with the only episode I really liked being the comedic one about the reverse werelizard guy, and even that one seemed to be mostly gleamed from some other show or script that was floating out there.
