Not sure how I feel about that move.

I am going to make it through this year if it kills me
I gave away five copies (well, IOUs) of Bad Rats: The Show back when the game was announced and to this day two haven't been accepted. And I know the winners received them because I PM'd everybody after the game released and I'd sent the gifts. Those poor, homeless rats. :(

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.

Been playing Evoland 2, it's a lot of fun. I really like the throwaways to classic games, makes me nostalgic. It gets frustrating sometimes though

The sequel? thing for alien swarm got released today and it's free and added a ton of new features, didn't see anyone mention it yet
It's really fun!

Ooh that's cool! I have to tell a few real life friends that played hundreds of hours of the original.

Impressive

To a point. A lot of the game can boil down to persistence, even if you're not that good. Eventually you'll get that great run that lets you just steamroll all over everything.

That's one of the things that makes BoI my favorite roguelike: you have to beat the game so many times in order to 100% it and you get so many terrible runs so often, you don't feel at all guilty when the game smiles on you and has you one-shotting entire rooms full of monsters halfway into a run. Sure, that run's going to be a cakewalk, but you've got so many more to do that it never feels like you're being cheap.

As long as it doesnt replace a game its fine.

Also if you ever wanted to give Heroes of the Storm a try, or a moba in general, Goodguy Blizz is running a dope ass promotion next week with the launch of 2.0 (basically 20 free heroes)

Dota2 permanently has 110 free heroes. Just sayin'. 😋

How stupid of me to try and shine some light on a good promotion that people might be haopy to learn, what was I thinking.

This fucking thread is getting more and more ridiculous in its need to be edgy.

🙈 🙉 🙊

You need to use emojis, otherwise people will think you are serious. 😘

It is kind of amusing to see Blizzard so desperate to get attention for one of their games. It must be such an unfamiliar experience for a developer used to dominating any genre they choose to release a game in.

It's fine for me. They keep doing events where you get skins or mounts for their other games if you play HotS. I play it anyways, so it's free shit for me.

About to start The Last Remnant for the first time (thanks again iosefe for the giveaway). Anything I should know before jumping in?

There's a lot of weird bullshit stats, a wiki is your friend.

Also the lead character is like the epitome of annoying JRPG heroes. You will want to strangle him.

In The Last Remnant you have a thing called Battle Rank (BR). Fighting makes it go up, and the enemies gain abilities and stats. You get better stats by fighting enemies with natural BR greater than your actual BR. So, if you grind a lot you'll get a much higher BR and the games becomes harder.

Also, try to choose the attack that uses the most skills, you unlock the better versions by repetition.

Finally it could be argued that you can't play the game properly until you get a certain strategy, and play New Game+ with that strategy.

There was something with PC on it on that thread thanks to someone doing some digging around.

"Consoles" is a way for publishers to divide their business categories. It's just meant to say it's not mobile (and typically not handheld). It's meant to give people certain expectations without being specific. Like for instance, it's from the God Eater devs, but since it is focused around home platforms, people can probably expect areas to not be the 20 feet sections of a game containing 1 enemy (or 1 enemy pack) like a lot of portable MH style games tend to have.

UE4 + Namco. I'd bank on a PC version announced later.

It's a UE4 game by Namco. It is 100% coming to PC. The "consoles" usage doesnt mean anything at all, it's just what the japanese magazines mention and japanese magazines wouldnt ever give a shit about mentioning PC.

I should have known since it debuted in Japanese media, which wouldn't care about PC regardless.

Here's an idea:
Let me register a Steam Controller with my account.

If the controller is registered with my account, it can serve as a SteamGuard provider for the computer it's on.

If you are worried about having your controller stolen, then send login emails if someone uses the controlled as a SteamGuard provider and allow the recipient to remote disable the Steam controller and the account logon.

I haven't played it yet, but I read that you don't gain exp nor levels, so all your stats come from your gear. Maybe he's talking about that.

Thanks guys. I looked for a beginner tutorial on YouTube and didn't really find anything, but I found a nice Steam guide: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=113566410

I liked what little of TLR I played, though I felt combat was a little opaque (as in, I didn't feel like I had a complete grasp of wtf I was doing, lol.) I mean to go back to it, but posts like this make me have second thoughts about that. :x

DO NOT GRIND

Also, don't try and do physical and magic on characters.
Hybrid are fucking awful. Pick one and go with it.

Disabled the punycode setting in Firefox. From reading the Bugzilla thread it seems Mozilla folk aren't keen on making changes to this since they believe it's foremost the responsibility of the registrar (the company issuing the domain name), and that it makes Cyrillic domains 'second-class citizens' or something. I can kinda understand their positions but at the same time they already have spoofing detection built-in for this purpose so not sure why they consider cases like this (where each character is Cyrillic) so different.

*Edit: Question - is this a game where buying items from shops is important? Or will I get weapons and stuff from progressing through the game and defeating enemies?

My gripes so far with The Last Remnant:

- Before starting the game I changed some of the settings, and when I pressed "OK" the game automatically started instead of taking me back to the title menu. I wasn't ready for the game to start just yet, and wanted to change some more stuff. Not a huge deal but that's just bad interface design.

- You get sent back to the title screen when you get a game over... wtf lol.

- The controls are very... dated feeling. I get this game came out in '08 but still, it controls like a PS2 game.

This isn't a fault of the game but I didn't realize it had turn-based combat. I could have sworn I read it was an action-RPG. I probably wouldn't have entered the raffle if I had known, since I don't really enjoy turn-based combat anymore. But I'll stick with it for now.

TLR is still king of turn-based combat presentation. It looks active in a way that I've imagined since I played my first turn-based game, Final Fantasy 1, way back on the NES. The only other game that comes close is Persona 5, and even then it's a different beast.

TLR sequel when?

Thank you, Knurek!

Does anyone know if there are many/any legit websites using that kind of URL that would be affected? I just know I'm going to forget changing that config setting and wondering wtf the URL is.

IIRC, you have to craft weapons starting from the bases they sell on shops. And to craft weapons you have to farm enemies, and to farm enemies you have to farm other enemies to unlock the area where the enemies you want are, etc.

It's somewhat tiresome.

On the other hand. if you stick to the story you don't need to farm a lot. But to do everything, a NG+ and lots of patience is required.

Halo wars is so random and unexpected. when was it announced? I wonder if the og Halo games still have a chance. Does it use some Microsoft or any 3rd party drm?

I think it was kind of "leaked" in the AMD presentation, then later I remember the store page being posted there so I'm not even sure if there was a big announcement.
