NES Classic Edition Thread: Now You're Playing With Power* *Sold Separately in Europe

Holy shit, I found one. I had been checking brickseek also off and on and literally never once saw it showing any in stock anywhere near me. Not one since November. So I look yesterday and saw 2 were available, but was too lazy and figured they'd be gone. Out of curiosity, I looked late tonight and the 2 were still there. They were just sitting in a stockroom. Now to figure out how to add games to it if you still can do that

At this point it was more of a grudge purchase since I don't have as much interest/time to play now rofl

What is the origin of the re-translated Zelda 1 introduction? It's weird that they would include a non-NES translation on this unit. I can't imagine they retranslated it just for this release, either.

Was there a reprint of the original cart that included this? It's kind of weirding me out.

It takes out all the " 8 " " GANNON " stuff.

It is accurate for the most part. sometimes incoming shipments are counted towards it for some reason. So like if they expect 10 that day it will show 10 even if they haven't received the shipment yet. If something is stolen or damaged it will also remain in the inventory until a certain period as well so that can mess things up.

this is 100% accurate.

Just got back from a Walmart that showed in Stock / Quantity 0. I checked the walmart app and it said they had Limited Stock in the Nintendo aisle. I head over there and see another guy talking to an employee and correctly guess he is looking for one too. Anyway the employee says that he just checked the back and couldn't find it. He told the guy he can order online and have it shipped to his house. Apparently this employee isn't aware it is hard to find.

Alright how do I get an extra controller (European version)? I know there won't be any restocks so I gotta pay the scalper price, I'm just worried that I'll get scammed and get shipped a bootleg or something if I buy from amazon third parties or eBay.

Take this listing on eBay for example. Seller is from Singapore, has sold more than 54 of these and still has "more than 10 in stock" with 100% positive feedback.

How likely is it that someone from Singapore actually has hundreds of these controllers lying around?

I've seen a few fulfilled by Amazon third party listings on various Amazon stores but even then I'm worried. I guess with Amazon you're guaranteed a refund it the item is fake, but I'd rather not waste my time while these things get rarer and rarer.

edit: Just ordered one from Amazon.de and one from Amazon.fr. I think the latter is gonna end up being a fake because it was relatively cheap and the store only sells three items and has only 28 feedback, but it arrives in three days so I guess I'll know soon enough and can send it back if it does end up being an unofficial product. The one from Amazon.de is sold by Gameshop DE and I'm praying this one at least is the real deal, though I paid nearly 65 euro for it so that's almost eBay scalper levels...

Got one a couple months ago for my Dad. He needs either a wireless controller or a wired extension since the controller is crazy short. Can anyone recommend me the best option?

A good friend of mine who works at a Target about a few hours away got me an NES Classic on Monday for only $55.07 using his employee discount, picked it up from him tonight while he was visiting with family. He said they started getting a lot more the last few weeks at their store around the time of the discontinuation announcement. He told me they have more than a few customers blacklisted from buying it now. Anyways, really happy I was able to get one just at the right time, about to hook it up now. The packaging on this is so nice and the old school red branding looks perfect next to the box for the Switch.

Pretty sure the GameCube Collector's Edition disc used the same tweaked ROM or a similar one.

So on CAG, BB stated they'll have NES Classics available for Monday morning in store. It'll now be a Black Friday bloodbath, but at least BB is letting everybody an equal chance by camping out. I'm out of this game, but can already imagine the lineup now or tomorrow at BB's across the US. Book Monday off GAF, might need to Black Friday it up at your last chancr for this.

Thanks to Brickseek the Walmart near me had four and when I got there I got the last one.

just so you guys know, like 70% of all of GAF's community hate you right now.

congrats!!

Went to Frys earlier today and they had an entire shelf of accessories, controllers, joy sticks, carrying cases...made me wonder if these peripheral companies knew how limited this thing was going to end up being.

I refuse to join the Bestbuy chaos for one of these.

The shitty part is that if the rumor for a SNES version is true, itll be just as bad when it hits, if not worse.

Im going to just go the raspberry route. Im too old for this shit...

A snes will be a bigger shitshow. Nintendo won't learn anything and scalpers will be emboldened by $300 bounties on another Nintendo item discontinued in months.

Was just at BB because yesterday an employee told me they would sell it today. Got there early no line so I knew something was up. Got an employees attention and they said tomorrow. So yeah this Monday thing is real, I work so oh well.

OK. Guess I am heading out at 5AM or whatever to try and get one of these things. :)

I fear 5 am would be too late. Earlier this year when BB had similar store only sale there were at least twenty ppl at my store already in line at 2 am. And that was before the discontinuation announcement.

ok so the whole world is now aware. it's going to be a bloodbath

when do you guys think the lines will start building up?? about mid-night?

selling hthis thing new nets you easily at least $120 bucks profit. this means literally business for a lot of folks

Its reported at around 14 units or so. Which means first three in line are usually people with camping tent that brings their friends and brothers at midnight or even at 10 pm when store closes already taking out half the inventory or more. So unless you are willing to start lining up at least at 1 or 2 am then I wouldn't bother.

Kind of a bummer that it's on a Monday. I have work. I don't feel like camping out for one of these either. Sucks that this is probably the last opportunity to grab one.

I think that is what annoys me even more. People that have to go to work won't be able to even try and those that live of scalping just get more. And off course then turn around and blame those that work for not taking the time to stand in line.

So annoyed right now with this. I know first world problems, but it is just sooo aggravating.

I may call tomorrow and see if they have any at opening. If so, I will swing by. If not, no big deal. I am not dying for one of these things, but it would be cool to have.

My guess is they all went to Prime Now. Had auto refresh on local prime now page for whole week but always missed it between alarm going off and inventory going zero at final checkout page.

Gotcha, thanks.

Who's making the SNES Classic "how to get one" megatread?

Went to Best Buy nope gave out tickets at 8 am.

Swear I thought this guy was so mad that he was going to leave, and come back with a gun and shoot the place up

Yeah, wish the email from yesterday had mentioned they would be handing out tickets prior to store opening.
I got there right when the store opened, there were like 6 other people there, more than enough systems... but they had all been earmarked for people who got tickets at 7AM.

No offense, but how did you think getting to the store right when they opened would be in any way good enough for a product this in demand on what is likely its final shipment? As a GAF member, you should have known that you had to get there a few hours ahead of time.

I figured there would be a line of people waiting to go in.
Not half a dozen people waiting, with like 20 other tickets handed out to people who weren't there.

If there was a line of 25 people, I would've been fine with that.
If I had known I could show up at 7AM, get a ticket, leave, and come back later, I would have done that.

Went there around 9:20'ish and they were sold out. Some lady was pissed cause she said called last night and they didn't mention to her they were handing out tickets at a certain time.

I dropped by Walmart and Toys R Us to see if they had any or are getting any and they said they didn't know. Walmart had one black Switch in stock though.

I'm really not a fan of handing out tickets 2-3 hours before a store opens

But I guess it stops line cutters that show up last minute?

Idk man, lines are a messy thing , especially people that hold spots for people that weren't even in a line at once. If you have to pee/ get food and come back I'm ok with but one person holding like 3-4 spots is bs
