Confessions That Destroy Your Gamer Credibility

ITT We confess the things that, inwardly, we think would destroy our credibility in circles like these (GAF, enthusiasts, games journo, etc.).

I'll begin.

In my friend groups, I'm the Nintendo guy. I've always loved everything Nintendo, and always been the Nintendo defender through every console generation. I also (mainly) cover all Nintendo content for the website I write for.

I've never played a single Metroid game in my entire life. I've only ever gotten like an hour into Earthbound. I've never played a Pikmin game. Feels bad man.

Now you go.

I'm playing Nier Automata on the easiest difficulty level and let the game basically play itself. I don't care about the fighting, and I just wanna enjoy the story and the drama, while winning some trophies without any effort.

I've never properly played a 3D Zelda game and I've never played RE4.

I was planning on buying Majora's Mask and OOT for my 3DS until it broke. Now I'm planning on buying a Switch probably next year, and getting BOtW.

I never beat Ocarina of Time nor do I have any desire to. Just never clicked with me. I tried so, so hard to like it.

PS4 is the first Playstation console I actually got to own for myself. So yes, that means I missed out on soooooooo many classics that you all know and love.
Yes, this means KH3 doesn't mean nearly as much to me, and FFXV was my first experience with the FF franchise.

Don't worry, I approve.

I struggled with The Last of Us on normal difficulty. Also played through the Uncharted series on easy because I think it improved the pacing.

I think I'm just shit at shooter games.

and FFXV was my first experience with the FF franchise.

Ouch. Please don't judge the series too harshly. :(

I have to use summons every single time to beat the twin princes of Lothric. I've played Dark Souls 3 for 180 hours on various characters now and every other boss is fine, but that fight remains a thorn in my side.

I don't like any of the 3D Mario, Zelda and Metroid games. Only one I liked was Super Mario 3D World, which a lot of people say isn't even a "real" 3D Mario.
I just think they all 3 franchises lost something in the transition to 3D. Both in gameplay and aesthetics.

I obsess over boss battles constantly, created separate save files for each boss in each KH, & have filled my youtube channel with about a thousand different bossfight videos & counting.

Have not played any Souls game, Shadow of the Colossus, or Monster Hunter, despite these being games that have redefined the art of the boss.

I think The Order: 1886 is the second best AAA game of the generation. (Horizon Zero Dawn being #1.)

I really enjoyed No Man's Sky, so much so that I platinumed it.

I really enjoyed Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One.

I thought Haze was a solid game.

As a kid, I played a lot of E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial on the Atari 2600.

I don't like Final Fantasy, Metal Gear, the Soulsborne games, or Elder Scrolls.

I only mildly tolerate Gears and Halo.

I've never played Mass Effect, Call of Duty or the countless other realistic or military shooters, Pokemon, or Minecraft.

I've fallen out of love with Nintendo.

I consider myself platform agnostic and own all consoles (Switch, PS4 Pro, XBox One) but I fucking hate Halo and Gears.

I have every single Silent Hill game. I've never finished any of them.
I have every single Metal Gear Solid game. I've only ever finished Snake Eater (unless Twin Snakes counts).

Used to browse the saturday/sunday newspaper's ads from bestbuy/frys/etc, when I saw a game called "Half Life 2"

Though the name was dumb, and never dug any deeper until December 2008.

Age of Empires II is one of my favorite and most played games, but probably 80% of that time was spent making stuff in the map editor because I was just generally terrible at the game.

Despite having played most of the Final Fantasy games, X-2 and XV are the only ones I've actually beaten.

I've created dozens of characters in Morrowind and have sank probably 150+ hours across both PC and Xbox, but I've never actually gotten maybe more than halfway though the main quest.

I play every Zelda game. Not because I enjoy them, but so I can voice my dislike for the franchise on an informed basis.

That said, I do actually like OOT and WW. But not nearly to the same level as they are heralded.

I vastly prefer handheld gaming over console and PC. Portability, convenience, and easy access to a headphone jack takes priority over everything else.

Same vein: I prefer using a laptop over a desktop for gaming for the same reasons.

Some people are naming like 1 or 2 classic series they've never played, but I've probably never played a hundred of them. Too many to count.

I have never finished a resident evil game.

Despite owning Cv, 4, revelation, 5, and 6, remake HD and 0 hd. I purchased none of those full price. Most were gifts.

And another one: i've never beaten OoT. Or MM. I never owned a N64, and didn't buy them for wii the brief time I had one. Played a bit at a friends house once, but that is it.

My only attempt at breaking into Baldur's Gate ended after getting horribly mauled by wolves during the first real combat encounter in the game. Dragon Age: Origins is the closest I've come to getting into that style of traditional CRPG

I don't even know what gameplay from the Half Life series looks like, let alone played it.

I have no problem with cosmetic DLC and microtransactions because I know games are getting more expensive to make and developers and publishers have to offset the costs somehow

I pride myself as a jrpg fan and ive never finished chrono trigger. Also i mostly just play cod battlefront and overwatch these days despire buying every single notable rpg to come out in the last year and having completed none of them besides ffxv
I dont mind dlc at all and i haven't turned on my 1500 dollar pc is over 6 months
I liked oni more than any halo and i think urban chaos > gta
