I know you're poking fun at me.

I didn't want my post to become the central discussion. I had just hoped there would come more discussion out of the movies we've already got as part of the MCU.

Sure, but there's a difference between trying to add some structure to a discussion and trying to dominate it completely.

Anyway, I'll drop this too. It's all good!

Is Alex Pierce the boss of the Council? Or is he part of the Council with Malick?

The Council is the boss of Pierce. He reports to them and kills or at least tries to kill them to take out their override commando in the scene in Winter Soldier when Hydra is stepping out of the shadow.

So Pierce reports to Malick. Cause Malick is Hydra and on the Council.

Winter Soldier is also one of those films I can't remember much about. I should rewatch that next.

Also I'm a light-hearted fella, I don't take too much seriously. Although I did get a little sidetracked by the Darkhold in the last page. I love that SpaceWolf took the piss on me earlier. It's funny.

OK, thanks. I think I should start the show... Season 2 just recently released on Blu-Ray but I am still a bit afraid of the first half of the first season.

Don't be. Some people like to make it sound like season one was some crime against humanity but it's not. It's biggest sin is being mediocre but I wouldn't say it's actively bad.

Edit: plus, I say it's (mostly) worth the background for when it starts to get rollin' in the second season.

Just power through, it should be much more tolerable for someone who can move on to the next episode immediately. It was worse when people had to wait a week (or multiple weeks, with ABC's terrible scheduling during the first season) when it aired live.

And if you really must, you could skip episodes 2, 3 and 4 and not miss anything important. In fact, you'd be skipping some of the worst episodes of the show.

BTW, keep in mind that Thor: The Dark World is meant to be watched between episodes 7 and 8, and Captain America: The Winter Soldier is meant to be watched between episodes 16 and 17. (Or at least remember that those movies happen between those episodes.)

Dude, go through it with me now. I literally started up Season 1 today and it's a rewatch.

Watch the 1st season. It's rough in places, sure, but it's fun and it actually marathons much better with no breaks or commercials. The set up for Winter Soldier is just great.

Watch all of the show. I don't remember having a rough time with it when I binged it a few years ago. And also Malick, is a big character in the scheme of things. I appreciate his character much more on Agents of Shield.

With all these rewatches I'm trying to remember and reminiscing the lesser villains and putting a spotlight on them. I believe there's so many out there in the MCU, some of them being better and some of them being worse.

I still remember Graviton when I watched the first couple of episodes. Has he ever returned?

I think that I am really gonna watch it, but I have to finish Scrubs first, I never watch more then one show at a time - But I am almost through, I think I have 1 or 1 1/2 seasons left

Long detailed post
The one thing that stands out to me, looking back on all these screen caps, is how relatively muted the color palette of the movie is. While a lot of the more grounded MCU movies focus on that same set of colors, it's just kind of a surprise to see the aliens and alien tech not be the Technicolor showcases they are in Guardians. With that being said, "The Avengers" is still a solid movie. It's intimate in the right ways and then goes all out with the explosions and the scale at the end. I can't really believe less than 100 people died as a result of aliens invading Manhattan, but hey maybe the Avengers are just that good. As a capstone to Phase 1, it's great, but I hope Marvel ditch the Chitauri for a more unique alien race.

Those death tolls in Civil War was total bullshit. Whoever came up with those numbers should be fired.

I would actually like to see the Chitauri operate in space and someplace else than Earth. Against some other foes.

I also can't remember who Graviton is.

Synopsis for Black Panther

After the events of Marvel's Captain America: Civil War, King T'Challa returns home to the reclusive, technologically advanced African nation of Wakanda to serve as his country's new leader. However, T'Challa soon finds that he is challenged for the throne from factions within his own country. When two foes conspire to destroy Wakanda, the hero known as Black Panther must team up with C.I.A. agent Everett K. Ross and members of the Dora Milaje, Wakanadan special forces, to prevent Wakanda from being dragged into a world war.

Synopsis for Black Panther Infinity War

As the Avengers and their allies have continued to protect the world from theaters to large for any one hero to handle, a new danger has emerged from the cosmic shadows: Thanos. A despot of intergalactic infamy, his goal is to collect all six Infinity Stones, artifacts of unimaginable power, and use them to inflict his twisted will on all of reality. Everything the Avengers have fought for has led up to this moment - the fate of Earth and existence itself has never been more uncertain.

There's also a new synopsis from Thor: Ragnarok, not that it reveals anything new:

Thor's world is about to explode in Marvel's Thor: Ragnarok. His devious brother, Loki, has taken over Asgard, the powerful Hela has emerged to steal the throne for herself and Thor is imprisoned on the other side of the universe. To escape captivity and save his home from imminent destruction, Thor must first win a deadly alien contest by defeating his former ally and fellow Avenger... The Incredible Hulk!

The Defenders only takes place over a few days:

"It takes place in a very short amount of time." Finn Jones revealed. "It's 8 episodes but it takes place over a couple of days."

"So it has this real-time frenetic energy to it which I think adds to the impending doom." Jones explained. "So we're all kind of brought together not through choice, but through necessity. We don't want to work with each other but our backs are against the wall and we kind of have to."

"That's not Mantis in GotG2" - says creator Steve Englehart

"That character [in the movie] has nothing to do with Mantis," Englehart told Polygon. "I will say that I liked the film quite a bit overall, they're doing good stuff and I enjoyed my night at the movies so long as I turned my brain off to the fact that that's not Mantis up there. I really don't know why you would take a character who is as distinctive as Mantis is and do a completely different character and still call her Mantis. That I do not know."

He enjoyed this movie version though:

"I wasn't impressed with what they did with [the comic book] Mantis, but the Mantis on the screen was entertaining," he admitted. "I liked her, but that's not Mantis."

Marvel brought Michael Rooker to the set of Avengers: Infinity War to trick people.

James Gunn was recently asked to clarify a report about Yondu's revival:

”False," he said. The director then went on to say Marvel brought Michael Rooker to the set of Avengers: Infinity War to trick people. ”No we did it because word was getting out he wasn't in the movie," Gunn explained.

”People were guessing what that meant," he continued, nodding to previous rumors which speculated Yondu's death. To throw fans off, Marvel decided to make it look as if Yondu survived until Avengers: Infinity War. However, fans have since learned that was all a ruse.

It's this photo Michael shared on social media before Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 came out, leading people to think he would be in Avengers: Infinity War.

That must have been a fun day for Michael Rooker.

Hey, good to see you in here, and I hope to see you again participating with the rest of us. Your plan sounds good, although don't forget about The Defenders, that's likely to hit Netflix in November-December unless it'll be delayed. Production have been smooth though.

You also have one heck of a season coming up, I can't wait to read your impressions of it in here. And for Iron Fist for that matter, since that one has really had a mixed to bad reception.

-----------

Chloe Benett has really grown on me as an actress, and as a very decent person. Apparently, there's been a situation where Gigi Hadid made a funny asian face holding a Buddha figure up beside her face, and fans got pissed at it, while Chloe spoke out against anti-Asian "racism". I don't think I would go as far as to say, what Gigi did was racist, but I do like how Chloe speaks up and explains how it is to be Asian and how it is to grow up being made fun of, and that you should not see yourself as a fun face.

Hollyscoop explains the situation

Chloe Bennett explains why she reacted on Instagram

Here's an especially good feature of her talking about Marvel created Quake around her heritage.

Repost from the Guardians VOL2 thread:

Also, somewhat unrelated note...does anyone know the in-universe music that's playing on the snow planet where Yondu and the Ravengers are visiting that weird space brothel? It sounded like an original piece of scorework? I remember really digging it.

must... not... read synopsis

i love the mcu, and now we get so much content at such a steady pace it can be considered a hobby just to follow it but i dont know how long i can stay in this thread

seeing stalone in gotg was such a treat and a surprise and staying here is going to ruin most of those :/

That thread was unbearable. Wish I could kinda see SM2 through the eyes of these guys sometimes.

rose tinted glasses

i think after homecoming, people will revisit sm2 and realize how terrible maguire and dunst are

Repost from the Guardians VOL2 thread:

It's a Jimmy Urine track called "Un Deye Gon Hayd (The Unloved Song)" Jimmy is the main dude from Mindless Self Indulgence and also the Ravager with the long emo cut that eats the spider off the tree. My understanding is that it's not been released yet.

I think that the OP should list how spoilers work in this thread (example):

The community has agreed upon, that discussion and postings of pictures, gifs, leaks, information of past, current and future films are allowed without markings of spoilers. TV shows can likewise be discussed when episodes are airing live in any country, although we recommend participating in thread OTs for each particular show.

But I think a warning like that at the top would mostly scare everyone away lol.

James Gunn posted the "Deleted Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 poster #2" on his Facebook.

Featuring Nathan Fillion as Simon Williams as Arkon. Anyone know the 616 reference? Deleted Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 poster #2. Apparently directed by my assistant Jake, and co-starring our Stunt Coordinator Tommy Harper.

I think the movie itself is mostly great, but God, Maguire was a horrible Parker and Spidey. Full stop.

I feel similarly about Bale in The Dark Knight trilogy.

Bale was a fantastic Bruce Wayne but became increasingly ridiculous as Batman. I was able to tolerate it in TDK but Rises broke the proverbial camel's back.

Medusa's hair makes me feel like this show is a badly colorized version of something like the Addams Family or Munsters.

According to MCU Exchange Mike Colter has confirmed that Wai Ching Ho will reprise her role as Madame Gao in the upcoming The Defenders.

“We saw Madame Gao [in the trailer]," Colter said. "Gao’s in it.”

That said, she's not featured in the latest Defenders trailer, and thus it is said, that he might have seen an alternate cut. Anyway, it comes as no surprise, that the leader of the Hand will return this Fall.
